2008 Yamaha FZ6 - Naked/Street Fighter Conversion Overview

  • Wrapped up my FZ6 Naked conversion over this summer. Had a fun time doing this as budget as possible. I think almost all the parts came from aliexpress minus the headlights which came from amazon.
    The headlight wasn't too bad at all, just had to repin the two plugs into a single one and it worked perfectly.
    I purchased a speedo cover for the S2 FZ6 Speedometer to clean up the look. I think the hardest part of this build was making a clean mount/bracket for the speedo mount. This could definitely be improved and probably something I do for next year.

    Looks awesome 👌 Great choice for an easy streetfighter conversion. Ive done a few myself. Sv650, Bandit 1250f, and a CBR954. Just lots of black paint and black shrink wrapping wiring cleans things up. Once you start you just keep going. Id change the sprockets and chain to a 520 kit and drop a tooth in the front to start. Much better then most of the new options at a fraction of the cost. Long live the Inline-4's ❤

    For the speedo get a piece of 2mm 110mmx130mm steel plate and weld it to the stock backing plate that has the 3 rubber mounted screws that originally held on the speedo to the stock bracket and front fairing/lights. You’ll need to cut it off as you only need the piece with 3 holes… then when it’s welded together at the angle and offset you figure, bolt it to the underside of the top yoke. You already have a bolt hole you can use so you only need to drill and tap one hole. You need to cut a half circle out of the plate to make way for the key barrel.

      Based on my search on the forums, people are able to get a good amount of miles on these bikes without issues. Classic Japanese inline 4 formula been running these motors in many of their bikes.
      I don’t have the bike anymore, purchase a triumph street triple, will probably try to shoot a video on that

    Hey! i am having trouble on knowing what to do with my dual headlight with the 2 connectors, i am wanting to use the same headlight that you got from amazon and am unsure of the process. I am needing your help :)

    • @zglgo
      @zglgo  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Its very simple once you start testing and playing around with it. Of the two connectors one will be for the DRL and one for the highbeams. You can test the amazon headlight by plugging in these cables one at a time and seeing if it turns on when the bike is running(DRL)/when you turn on the highbeams. Once thats sorted you want to bridge the headbeam power connector/pin to the connector to the DRL (essentially open the connector and take out the pin and put it in the empty slot for the other connect).This will also the bike's headlight to be on when the bike is on and the highbeam to turn on when you press the button.
