Personally I'd just stay in place in the original field and wait for the authorities to do something about it. I wouldn't assume that their first instinct would be to shoot me, especially since I'd make a point of appearing as passive as possible and avoid any sudden movements. If anything my assumption is that if ever the authorities came across a giant they'd do anything in their power to keep it alive if only for research purposes and the like. Also I doubt they'd legally be able to do anything to hurt me (so long as I'm not posing a threat) since I'd still be technically human and there's no law on the books that says that a person's human/legal rights go away when they magically turn into a giant.
A very good point that I think most people don’t consider. This is some very useful insight for the stories I started writhing.

If someone were a giant, could they be paid really well to build skyscrapers or buildings and still be cheaper than renting cranes and hiring bunch of smaller people to do the work?
In reality you'd probably start overheating in a few minutes and (most likely) die. When you grow, your mass grows far more than your surface area. Because of your larger mass, you have more cells, which has more mitochondria. With your metabolism supposedly still the same, producing the same amount of energy they usually do but multiplied, it won't take long for your cells and body to overheat, causing a heck ton off problems and most likely leading to well, death in an hour, a few minutes, or maybe seconds

If You were a thousand feet tall, you would be loud at two hertz sine. You would vibrate the land via trough after crest two times a second. Frequency equals speed/wavelength. With the wavelength so long, the frequency is low. Besides, since your ear grew by a factor of 100, you would hear 0.16 hertz to 200 hertz. Big ears, big wavelength(which means lower frequency).

Not to be a pain, but your body mass goes up by a cube function with height. In other words, your mass isn't 200x as much because you're 200x as tall, but 200x200x200 = 8 million times as big.
Going from 5'6 to 1,000' is 182x as tall, and also 182x as wide, and 182x as thick = 6,028,568 times as big (assuming you scaled evenly).
This means Mr. 150 pounds now weighs 450,000 tons, roughly the mass of everyone in Denmark. If you ate 2,000 cal a day before, now you need 12 billion calories. In practice it would be somewhat less, since thermal losses to the environment are lower as animals get bigger. But that's still a whole lotta food.

From a real physics perspective, your insides would liquefy and you would die pretty much instantly. Living things have theoretical limits to how big they can get before they collapse under their own weight. Sauropods which were the largest land animals to ever live were pretty close to that that theoretical limit. So nothing that is made out of flesh and bone can ever get much bigger than a Sauropod. in terms of humans that would limit any giants to maybe 25ft (8m) tall.
