As a Turk, I had never thought of going to Greece for a holiday, because I thought that people did not like Turks. I watched a few interviews with the Greeks about the Turks. I realized that they (in general) think that the enmity between the two countries, like us, is political and historical. The world is global now and human life and peace is the most important thing. I want to go to Greece with my wife and child and hug your people wholeheartedly. Greetings and love from Greece.

I spent a summer on Santorini a long time ago and have dreamed of returning ever since. It has everything. Great people, food, shopping, sunsets, recreation, and solitude. In other words, heaven! Thanks for the great video.

Right now one of my freind is there with her husband to celebrate their 20th wedding anniv. Must say they have spent wisely.!
One more thing about the hike from Fira to Oia, once you reach Oia, if you walk through Oia, down the stairs to the Port Amoudi, there is a hidden spot to swim and do some 3 meter high “cliff jumping”. It’s actually a nice reward after the long hike to cool off with a nice swim. Then after the swim, in Port Amoudi Bay you can have some fresh fish in one of the restaurants right on the water. It’s actually a great way to spend a day on Santorini. Hike. Swim. Eat. Sunset.

Thanks for taking me back to the memory lane..beautiful presentation. Santorini is definitely one of moat beautiful places on earth . I missed out a trip to the winery and the sunset cruise when i visited there last but definitely would love to visit there once again ..

We took the hike today (10/22) and would like to correct your assessment. (1) It is definitely not an easy hike because of the steep up hills and rolling pebble down hills. (2) From Fira to Oia is NOT mostly down hill but the opposite. There’s a steep up hill when start from Oia followed by mostly downhill. We started at 9:45am from Fira, made stops to enjoy the sceneries, arrived at Oia at 1:30pm. Hiker should wear layers and a hat. It can be chilly in shade and hot under the sun.
Maybe we didn't realize the steepness because of the beautiful views all around! ;) But thanks for correcting, we've hiked many mountain peaks so this was our personal judgement of course

Santorini is a volcanic island in the Cyclades group of the Greek islands. It is located between Ios and Anafi islands. It is famous for dramatic views, stunning sunsets from Oia town, the strange white aubergine (eggplant), the town of Thira and naturally its very own active volcano.

Santorini isn’t cheap. You’d probably need about 150€ per person per day if you want comfort and not to budget everything (including accommodation/ food / activities).

We were a bit worried that we would be spending too much time in santorini, but ur video shows there is plenty to do in that time period. One question, how do you get around the island? Is renting a car necessary, or even advisable (our hotel offers free parking), or was there reliable public transportation? Again, thank you so much, JR
Thanks! We didn’t have a rental car, but got around by bus or taxi. Taxis aren’t cheap though, so for some places it might be better to have a rented vehicle (with scooter you can avoid the traffic). The public bus in Fira goes to places like Pyrgos and Oia (mostly other towns on the island). Enjoy your trip!!
There’s a high probability of me going to Greece later on this year, if it all goes to plan I’ll be able to make the trip!

We went back by taxi after spending a few hours in Oia. There is also a public bus you can take from Oia to Fira!

We are going to Santorini July this summer by Cruise. I wonder if there is any transportation take us to Oia of Santorini. We don't want to buy excursion trips because it is very rush, don't even have enough time for picture. Any suggestion for first time visiting ? Thanks
From the cruise ships, I think it will be easiest to take a taxi (though the main road is busy and it can take a while to get from the ferry port to Oia because of traffic). There's also a public bus from Fira to Oia, but you'd still need to get to Fira first. Fira is also beautiful btw, definitely worth a visit if you have a few days!
Any advice on tour guide company? I live history and really want to learn more on my visit.
We booked most of our tours through our hotel. Generally you can easily book it there. You can also check get your guide for specific tours by renowned tour companies (see our link in the description!)

Thanks for watching! You can get to the cities by public bus indeed. We stayed in Fira which has a bus station, and there are many buses to for example Oia and Pyrgos from there. Alternatively, you can also take a taxi or rent a scooter!

Hi there! We didn’t do a tour, we just hopped into a taxi and then got a guide at the entrance! 😄 he was super knowledgeable so definitely recommend getting a guide!

In Santorini it’s easy to take a bus or just walk around! We stayed in Fira so there was a bus station. But you could also rent a scooter, which would be really fun!

We stayed a week in Santorini and fitted all these activities in! We didn’t sit as much by the pool though so if you want to have some days relaxing as well then definitely go for 10 days!

I think May will be maybe a bit more quiet. I heard some people who just went and said it was pretty quiet. But actually September isn’t bad either. We were there at the beginning of October and absolutely loved it! 😊 weather wise it should be good in both months but of course you never know for sure!

I have been to Ibiza twice, but years ago. Depends on what you like… Ibiza is a party island and has many beaches to chill and relax. Santorini is a romantic place with cozy towns but less beaches (more like you’d lay by the pool)
Can you swin in ocean october 20?
October 20 is getting late in the season. I swam on the south side of Crete in the first week of October, but Crete is further south of Santorini.
Really depends on the year! It's late in the season indeed but a few years ago we swam at the end of October in Dubrovnik which is more north of Santorini. Last year was also very warm during October. It's really hit and miss these days with the changing climate

It's hit and miss... could be warm and sunny but could also be rainy or cloudy. The changing climate makes it really hard to predict these days.

Nice!! It might be hard to get around with a car as the towns are very narrow. I’d say a scooter or ATV is easier. There’s also buses that go to most places on the island! It’s a fairly small island. But we’ve definitely seen people with a car rental too!

Wondering why they 10K hike takes 3 hours, lots of stopping? Has anyone here run it? And if so, how fast? 😊
It definitely doesn’t take 3 hours of walking! We went to a café half way through the hike, sat down and had a drink! So includes a break like that + pictures. It’s possible to run it but might be tricky sometimes because the alleyways are small and people might be in your way! But it’s an easy trail overall so good for running
