You provided the answer in the Old Testament. Just like the Old Testament used it to talk about a new day, this was the same way the New Testament was using it. The post-70 AD world is in view.
Compare how the New Testament uses the word elements in Galatians Colossians and Hebrews. The first covenant system is in view, The Temple, the priesthood, animal sacrifices etc.

The answer is not pitting the new earth versus an inheritance reserved in heaven but to harmonize these scriptures. Put the new earth in the direct presence of God and there is no issue:
Peter spoke of the actual creation of the earth, an actual worldwide flood, the fiery destruction of heavenly bodies, the burning of the earth as real events past and future, and furthermore Peter noted in the same context the promise of God of a new heavens and new earth is real not symbolic (2 Pet 3:1-13) ...
... The promised city and its heavenly homeland are NOT merely symbolic (Heb 11:10, 16). The new heavens and new earth are in the direct glory of God as God is its light in Revelation 22:5. Yes, the New Jerusalem, the promised city in Hebrews 11:16, is reserved in heaven and will descend to the new earth. Harmonize these biblical truths and there is no more debate.
There is a greater threat behind this, and it is denying the resurrection of the body to accept a belief in a "new body" to come. When you understand that the faithful will resurrect like Christ rose bodily from the dead, then the eternal place of dwelling that is compatible to one's resurrected body makes sense because the resurrected will put on a new eternal, imperishable nature upon one's restored and raised body (1 Cor 15:1-58). That is the hope of the gospel.

    • @darrellclark2248
      @darrellclark2248 Před měsícem

There is absolutely no threat. Just the opposite. To believe in a total annihilation, is also to believe in the annihilation of the body of the wicked. If not then why not? Read your text carefully.

@@CindyBaah John 14 doesn't mean what has been preached so often. These passages are metaphorical to a point, put it does refer to something. That something is the new relation we have with God in the end. The New Jerusalem is said to be coming down. The point as noted in the verses, God will dwell with man. This is the consummation of the age when all things come to summation. No where in scripture do you find a total destruction of the creation--at face value the idea is repulsive. If you read carefully 2 Pet 3:7FF, you find it is communicating the judgment of the wicked. The language of conflagration is not a total annihilation. If it is, it is clearly describing a total annihilation of the wicked. They will be judgment they will be no more. Some believe this, but I don't. After the judgment the wicked will suffer because of their sins. The creation will be liberated (Rom 8: 18-26), and the creation will be transformed. Note the Garden of Eden language of Rev 21-22. Fire is often used of refining in the Bible. Just as our bodies will be transformed, God's good creation will also be transformed. Annihilation is not in store for the creation but glorification.

The New Jerusalem (Revelation 21:2-3; 21:9-11; Hebrews 12:18-24; Revelation 3:12) is here now. It's the Bride of Christ, the holy city, the great city, the church of Christ. When the Old Jerusalem (harlot) was executed for her adultery "I am no widow" (Revelation 18:7), which means that this harlot has a husband and he is still living (Ezekiel 16:8-21, 27-30, 46-48; Jeremiah 2:2; Jeremiah 3:1, 3:6-8, 3:14; Isaiah 54:5-8; Jeremiah 31:31-34), the Bride of Christ, New Jerusalem took her place at the marriage supper of the Lamb (Revelation 19:1-9). The Bride made herself ready before the harlot's destruction in 70 AD (Revelation 19:7; 2 Corinthians 11:2). When Jesus ascended into Heaven the kingdom began (Revelation 12:5; 12:10-11; Acts 1:8-9; Acts 2:1-4, 14). It began first for Jews in Jerusalem (Acts 1:8; ch. 2), then Jews in Judea and partial Jews in Samaria (Acts 8:1-5), then Gentiles (Acts 10:33-48; 11:1), but for Gentiles, this was the age of the "Jew first then the Greek" (Romans 1:16), until "the fullness of the Gentiles had come in" by 70 AD (Romans 11:25). After this the mystery of God was revealed (Revelation 10:7), and this mystery is that there is only one body, the church in unity comprised of Jews and Gentiles together (Ephesians 3). The competing Jewish system with it's Temple was no longer a threat to the church (1 Thessalonians 2:14-20; Galatians 2; Acts 15).

@@larrymcclain8874 It is so sad when people are so indoctrinated into a cult they cannot understand basic theological language. Rev 21 is speaking of the New Jerusalem coming down from above to the earth. John is a Jew and Revelation is written in cultic language of the Jews: temple, lampstands, 12 tribes of Israel, etc. The City of Jerusalem is theological language for the people of God where the name of God abides (Heb 12:22ff). Our heavenly Jerusalem. The Bible is replete with this symbolic language. The Hebrew writer is writing about, we are in the process of receiving such a kingdom. This is referring to the consummated end of time (cf. Rev 21-22). This is the NT common language of yet but not yet (e.g. Col 1:13; Matt 6:5-17)). Rev 3:12 is indicating the kingdom of God coming out of heaven, it is not indicating the Jerusalem as it existed in the time of David. Our David is not the physical David, but the Messiah David Jesus (cf. Acts 2:11ff). The rest of your comments about 70AD is pure fabrication that your sect has made up out of thin air. It contradicts the biblical narrative of the Christ and return in the End. AD 70 is at best of God's judgment on the people of the Jews, but he did that on many different occasions in the past and is not a substitute for the eschaton that is spoken of in the Revelation or many other citing in the gospels and beyond. You are not tracking with the biblical narrative. You are usurping it!

If Jesus bodily, physically resurrected-Paul said “our bodies shall be conformed to His glorious body”-WHY are we making New Creation theology symbolic? Was Jesus’s resurrection symbolic? NO!
This old body becomes the old earth-our new, resurrected bodies will become the new earth.
We try to over-convolute the simplistic word of God.
“In Christ we are His NEW CREATION.”
“He made in Himself ONE NEW HUMANITY.”
Our image bearing nature is tightly tied into our humanity. “Let us make humankind in our image-male and female He created them in His image.”
If God created the earth for human beings to physically reflect Him and we messed that up-why is it so hard to believe God will restore this purpose and intention.
In order to be an image-bearer of God you have to be a human being. God is trying to renew us BACK to His image.
God is in the RESTORATION business, NOT annihilation (please be careful teaching this!).
Jesus is ushering in the new Genesis of creation. Thank you, Lord! Deliver us from this body of death to put on incorruptible bodies of righteousness! 💛
Genesis opens up with God creating the heavens and the earth-Revelation close up with God recreating a new heaven and new earth. Follow the ultimate narrative of scripture.

You did not prove your point. You are giving Satan a great victory over God by turning his creation over to the evil one. Symbol, but symbol of something, which is a new relationship with our God. Our bodies will be transformed and so also God's "good creation." The universe will be refined not annihilated. The body also is spoken in the same way in 1 Cor 15. It is not an annihilation, but a refining of his creation (Zech 13:9; 1 Pet 1:7-8). It is interesting that the Kingdom/New Jerusalem will come down to earth (Rev 21:1-4). You are ignoring the biblical narrative. Your discussion of Revelation is irrelevant. You need to actually do some study on Revelation. Read G. K. Beale's Commentary on the Greek text on Revelation. Symbolic language doesn't mean empty meaning it is pointing to something that is related to the symbols. God's ultimate plan is to restore heaven and earth after the fall, even as he is bringing people back into his fold. Satan will not win over God. God will be victorious (Rom 8:18-25). Heaven is where God is, and just as in the beginning, he will be in our midst, in a new heavens and new earth! To ignore material things is gnostic. Our material existence will be changed but it will be from the same substance (1 Cor 15). The same will be with all creation. You will not be able to visit the Grand Canyon, but it will be clear that it came from what was. Rev 21-22 uses Garden of Eden language for a reason. The creation will fulfill its original purpose, as will mankind. Most of your discussion and use of scripture were irrelevant to the issue. You did eisegesis and not exegesis.. you totally ignored creation and recreation that is so prevalent in scripture. You did not contextualize 2 pet 3. The real church will enjoy the new heavens and new earth where God is dwelling with his people and his angels. Your last statement was pure foolishness. Your explanation shows you absolutely don’t understand the biblical teaching.

@@CindyBaah John 14:1-4 I know Jesus was a carpenter, but this has nothing to do with building a structure. His discussion had to do with what is revealed in the remainder of the book. it is his death and resurrection, the ascension and coronation. He went away to complete the salvific work to reconcile man to God. "Heaven" is already complete, it does not have need of being completed. This passage has to do with the finished work of God in Christ by the Spirit. It is less about a place but renewing all things in Christ! Jesus is using metaphorical language to teach his spiritual mission.
