  • #PeelAndStick Wallpaper... Thats what we are doing this week on #DetroneDoesIt … This week I will show you how to apply the #PropertyBrother peel and stick wallpaper as a studio backdrop for my new CZcams studio. In today’s video I will talk a bit about the difference between this wallpaper and the #Target brand that I bought for my laundry room.
    I like to use a lot of peel and stick products because of the flexibility they offer as well as ease of installation/removal. Join me as I begin to transfer this room into an awesome recording studio, starting with new wall coverings.

    Not to be critical but you're supposed to overlap the pieces, even if by only a few millimeters, it prevents those LINES you see on your walls. That style is pretty cool though.

      Thanks for watching and thanks for the feedback CoopyKat. I checked out Drew and Jonathan’s website as it relates to installing and overlapping and here’s what they say… “Before measuring, determine if your preferred design requires a slight overlap or an edge-to-edge install to pattern-match the panels.” While I think this particular pattern turned out ok with side by side install, instead of overlapping, it is definitely something you want to consider before apply your desired paper. It’s definitely possible that mine could have turned out differently if I had overlapped them.

    Thank you for your time and lessons. We are looking at replacing our wallpaper in our cabin bathroom. Can you use this product to go over existing wallpaper (with no texture) ?

    • @DetroneDoesIt
      @DetroneDoesIt  Před 2 lety

      Hey Mark, thanks for your question and thanks for watching! I would say yes if you are dealing with a wall that is non textured you could, but here are the potential pitfall I see with that.
      If the previous wallpaper is also removable you may accidentally pull off the old paper if you have to “remove and restick” the new paper.
      Also you don’t know if the old paper has some kind of stain or moisture repellent built into the face of the wallpaper, because if it did it may prevent the new paper from sticking.
      I think it’s probably a better idea to remove the old paper if you have the ability to. If you decide to lay it over top, I would love to hear how it goes!

    • @markthomas7808
      @markthomas7808 Před 2 lety +1

      @@DetroneDoesIt The old wallpaper was the glue on kind and I don't remember if it has any moisture repellent built in. I don't recall what type it was since we put it on new drywall 21 years ago. I think I will try the stick on kind and see how it works. Do you think it will cover the old paper without the pattern bleeding through. Thank You !!

    • @DetroneDoesIt
      @DetroneDoesIt  Před 2 lety

      @@markthomas7808 For sure. This property brothers paper was thicker than the peel and stick kind that I got from target (for a different project). You shouldn’t run into any problem from it bleeding through… but you’ll want to spay special attention to you’re edges and make sure they butt against evenly, so your old wall paper doesn’t peek between pieces.

  • @learningtheropes1683
    @learningtheropes1683 Před 2 lety +1

    @detronedoesit, I have a wall texture that is very “spikey” stucco material. I don’t want to have to smooth it down to put the wallpaper on it
    So I was thinking of getting some foam core boards and jus nailing them on the walls to make it as smooth as possible. Then put the wallpaper on those foam boards. Have you ever done this and did it turn out ok or just look bad? Thank you!

    • @DetroneDoesIt
      @DetroneDoesIt  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey @LearningTheRopes I have never done that before… but I assume if you are using a thin foam board and securing it properly it could work (especially if you are just doing 1 accent wall and not a whole room). Definitely want to have a plan for installing it around light switches or socket so that they don’t appear sunken into the wall.

      @learningtheropes1683 Před 2 lety +1

      @@DetroneDoesIt thanks for the quick reply! I'm gonna give it a try. Good point about the light switches, I will have to think about that and make sure I don't botch it up in those areas! Thanks again!

    I am having an issue finding where I should be lining up the second strip so that the pattern doesn’t show the seam. Did you find where the seam matches?

    • @DetroneDoesIt
      @DetroneDoesIt  Před 2 lety

      Because of the design of this sea moss pattern, it was pretty forgiving when it came to lining it up. I never found the exact match but from 2 ft away you can’t really tell.
      With the wallpaper I did in my bathroom and laundry room, they had much more defined patterns… the brick design for my laundry was a nightmare to line up.

  • @angieschulz9437
    @angieschulz9437 Před 2 lety +1

    How has it held up over time? Are the seam still together?

    • @DetroneDoesIt
      @DetroneDoesIt  Před 2 lety

      It has actually held up pretty well. The seams are still together and that room tends to get pretty humid, and the paper hasn’t been impacted by the moisture.

    • @DetroneDoesIt
      @DetroneDoesIt  Před 2 lety

      Not on this project… but for my Half bath makeover… it was rough, the sides came off fine but the middle of the paper was sticking pretty bad. I grabbed a pair of my wife’s best Tweezers and used that to grab and slowly remove sections that were sticking.

      @@DetroneDoesIt yes that’s what I am doing my half bathroom! I just came back to lowes tonight to get more but I am so annoyed! I didn’t think to grab tweezers I am so doing that.

    • @DetroneDoesIt
      @DetroneDoesIt  Před 2 lety

      @@mrs.pettway7506 Yeah the tweezers can be a little tedious but they work, just don’t put too much direct pressure on the paper so they don’t punch through it. The paper is pretty resilient though so you should be good! Good Luck!

    Did this wallpaper hold up?

    • @DetroneDoesIt
      @DetroneDoesIt  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Yes it held up for about a year or so, before it started to come down… probably could have stayed up longer if I prepared my wall better. Thanks for watching!
