An effective way to start peeling away from the corner of the peel and stick is to use a small piece of gorilla tape that runs across the corner of the backing on the back and it easily peels away by starting to peel away the product from the backing by the tip. It is very easy!

Thanks for the great videos Spencer! I just found you a few days ago and although i looked at CZcams before beginning my project a few months ago, i didn’t find your channel. So i used peel & stick on a wall in my horse trailer which is 21 years old. I prepared the paneled walls and someone mentioned that i use a floor primer (think he thought i had peel & stick tiles not the contact paper type). The peel & Stick went on great, no air pockets or anything. I was so impressed and it looked amazing, about 3 weeks later, i opened the trailer and the whole peel and stick was bubbled everywhere - totally ruined. It’s not a big area so I’d love to do it again. Can you give me any pointers on how to redo this again only right this time? Is there a specific sealer that will seal the wood? Then use the BIN primer? I also live in a climate (Wisconsin) that gets cold in winter, hot and humid in the summer and how will this effect the product? The trailer is not heated or air conditioned so the temperature is whatever it is outside. I’m also looking at doing a wall paper mural on the ceiling but, you can be sure, I’m watching more of your channel first! Thanks for everything you do to help us! I’m definitely subscribed!

Spencer, I’ve learned so much from your videos. I have a new closet in a bathroom. 2 walls are covered with a vinyl Sheetrock (used in mobile homes) with the “strip” removed. The third wall is brand new Sheetrock. If I used Zinsser Guardz over all the walls, is that sufficient to hand peel and stick wallpaper? If not, what more needs to be done? Thank you
It’s not enough. Prime it 2x with zinsser BIN. the next day, prime with Gardz. Let it dry. Make sure There is no texture on these vinyl walls. If there is, SkimCoat over this after BIN. finish it off with Gardz if you have to skim coat.
Then
Apply paste to the back of your peel n stick. Yes. Paste. Dynamite 234. Or. Roman. 880. Hang it like regular paper.

Hello Mr. Spencer, first off Thank you for sharing your extensive knowledge on wallpaper. My question is I have removed vinyl wallpaper from a powder room and apparently it was hung correctly as it came off easily. Other than wiping the walls so I need to prep the walls again. They were prepped under the original wallpaper? I’m using P&S but the original paper was vinyl. Thank you in advance.
Great question! You will need to make your walls flat from the rough texture that dry paste creates. Put gardz over it. Let dry a day. Then patch where rough with j. Compound. Let it dry. Apply Gardz over your joint compound. Let dry 1/2 a day. Hang your paper!!

I have a lot of Klean Strip Liquid Sandpaper left over from a previous paint job, would this suffice as a sizing agent before I hang the peel and stick? If not then I will buy the weld bond off of Amazon, just wanting to be practical with what I have on hand if possible. Thank you for help. This was a Very very useful video! I’m glad I watched your video, I had orange peel and just did a skim coat and was going to paint the wall but from your video I don’t need to paint, just use Roman pro 977 and wait for it to dry. How long should that take?

Considering how labor intensive this is, how do you justify labor to the client? Many clients choose these materials because they are less expensive than traditional wallpaper so they are already looking to pay less. But the labor cost should theoretically be more than installing traditional wallpaper.
Exactly correct! Do you really wanna know? Man, are you actually chose a wall covering that will cost you more in labour for me to hang. I will hang out, I am the only one who can do it in my area but if you insist… 90% of the time they say you are hired… I love this pattern and I cannot find it in a product that is not peel and stick

Extreme bond by Sherman Williams is what I used 2weeks ago to prep freshly smoothed walls with mud. Are you saying this product does not work.
Do you overlap the seams at all or just get them edge to edge?

What if the peel and stick you purchased isn't that sticky? Can you use spray adhesive when installing ?

Im watching you get the bubbles out without creating wrinkles or lifting the paper. I recently started using an activator from roman adhesives. Do you use it?

ok I have not done this YET! I've been watching many videos I skim coated the wall than I primed Bin or Zinsser shellac I thought you recommanded than to paint with Satin /or Eggshell paint. well now I see that you now are using a glue. before you hang and you said to let it dry. But than when you are applying wallpaper the glue is seeps out from under the peal and stick . I have smoothed prime and painted. do I now still have to size the wall over the painted wall now. the wall has now dried 3 weeks . but you are saying to let the sizing to be dry but your PN has glue seeping out I say that again . @@sandramoe6888 Please don’t confuse of water that I put under the peel and stick Product with Paste. You did great Sandra! If you feel confident that you can hang your peel and stick, you are ready to go with what you just explain, you don’t have to wait that long. Unless of course the canna paint tells you that it takes 25 days to fully cure. Then of course, you would have to wait; I will tell you that peel and stick and graphics are very sensitive to oxygen release from the paint underneath it. But it sounds like you are ready to hang your peel and stick. If you have any trouble with, I advise you to to Use a clear paste underneath it with a very thin layer. Please tell me if you understand so that I know you will be OK. Thank you so much for watching.
Hi Spencer which glue did you used for this job ? All regular wallpaper paste ?
Another question about the titebond wood glue 1 cup of glue mixed with 2 cups of water can I use this one like primer R35 for all of my project ?

You certainly can John. Sorry I never saw this question. Also, yes one cup of tight bond wood glue, two parts water; I would prefer that you use weld bond.

In another video from a couple years earlier you said it was not a one man job and we should smooth only with an eraser and do it horizontally only. I wonder if that was tailored for the beginners? Or did you change your mind with years of experience?

Thanks for some great tips. I’m about to apply a faux grass cloth peel and stick. I didn’t know I still need sizer with peel and stick. My one question is in this video you peeled off the entire back, yet in another of your videos you said to only peel a little backer off at a time. Which would be best with the faux grass cloth?
Excellent question! The video that you saw was for beginners and saw my advice to you is if you’re a beginner, do not, do not feel it all off at once; I have been doing this for a long time and so you saw a different method but please, don’t peel it all off at once. Great observation by the way!

On regular vinyl wall paper hanging is it still necessary to spray water on the seal n stick or just when putting up a wall mural?
Same for all slick wallpaper too. P. N stick tends to be super slick.

I recently bought some peel and stick wall paper because I heard it would be easy. I can see from your video that this really isn't an easy task. The wall I intended to put it on seems to be textured which I didn't realize until you mentioned it. It is textured like an orange peel. Should I still proceed? You mentioned a product called BIN. I found some online and it seems there are many BIN products that vary widely in price. Can you tell me specifically which one I should buy? I see the wallpaper you did in this video turned out perfect.
Do not hang that over texture. Make your wall smooth. Then prime with Roman 999 wait 24 hours and then hang your peel and stick

Can I also use this product to fill the vertical lines on 1970s wood paneling? Can I put wall paper over it if I fill in those vertical lines? If so, which product do I fill it in with if it's different than the 999? Or did you say to never put wall paper on the paneling, only paint?

Max. 54” in a bathroom is not easy to do. Bathrooms are tight. I’d be inclined to cut that in half and make it into 27” wide pieces.

The instructions on the brand of peel/stick I purchased said it must be installed over semigloss or at least satin paint .
So do I ignore the instructions?
Marie…. I’m baffled at those instructions. Baffled. You’re essentially hanging a decal. A decal will not stick to a shiny surface.
Here’s what you do.
Cut a piece of a roll off of your material. 2 feet long. Push it on your wall. Give it 2 weeks. See if it falls down. I know I’m asking you to wait so long. But I’m telling you….I have seen multiple failures with peel n stick with people sending me pics of their material falling down.
@@spencercolgan thank you for replying Spencer! The brand is Tempaper- a Genevieve Gorder design called “Feather Flock”. I intuitively thought semigloss didn’t make sense! I’ve been googling just to be sure I was reading that right. And I’ve seen other brands say walls should be flat. Lol. I’m waiting for the paint to cure right now.

I am getting ready to wallpaper an accent wall in my bedroom. It had knockdown wall texture and is blue. I added a skim coat and insured it was extremely smooth. I have peel and stick wallpaper. I have considered adding wallpaper adhesive to insure that it stays. Is there any other steps I should take to insure the wallpaper sticks?
