    I love using shieldz . Some people think it's unnecessary. It helps to move the paper when hanging, also help when removing paper. You're 100 percent correct

    So brand new drywall would you do a coat primer before applying sizing coat?

  • @kbun13

    would you use this first over semi-gloss painted walls. then add roman adhesion then on top of all that, the wallpaper?

    Was researching mural work in oil paints, on primed and painted walls, and reference mentioned the proper preparation on walls for the use of wallpaper hanging. Hence I'm here, since the Artist Handbook spoke of it. You raised some serious points which I'm certain are valid, especially in relation to the destructiveness of adhesives to all painted surfaces. Shield, is it? Okay brother. Point taken. Thank you.

    Can I also use Zinsser 123 as a primmer for wallpaper prep if I can't find the product you are specifically referencing here?

    Great video. The original owner used sizing before applying a wallpaper border over a latex paint. I've removed the old wallpaper border and the white sizing remains now. Can I now simply paint over the white sizing to have the wall paint match again? Or is there something else to be done?

      Please paint over it first with oil based KILz
      primer. Give it at least two hours to dry and then go for it. Paint over it as you like

    Hi, Spencer! Thank you for all of your informative videos. I am about to wallpaper for the first time and am trying to decide if I should use Shieldz “Universal Wallcovering Primer” or Shieldz “Clear Wall Size” as my primer. I am going to be wallpapering over smooth drywall painted with matte paint and I’d like to get it tinted since my wall is green and my wallpaper background is blue. Would either one work for me?

    After spending forever removing old wallpaper inch-by-inch I really want to make sure I prep well before installing a new wallpaper. I hired a drywall guy to fix the damage from the old wallpaper removal- he’ll finish with a skim coat. Do I use a couple coats of paint primer over the skim coat (I have killz 2) and then a membrane like the Shieldz or R-99 on top? Or does the Shieldz/R-99 go straight on top of the skim coat?

    • @spencercolgan
      @spencercolgan  Před 2 lety +1

      After skim coat, have them put two coats of Gardz

    Hi Spencer. Great info you provide in ALL your videos. I'm just wondering whether Shieldz would be ok to go over a skim coated wall. It was sealed (I think with PVA?) by the plasterer. After this I would like to hang peel and stick wallpaper. Is this procedure recommended?

      I have a beautiful wife, and it would not be appropriate for me to be reaching out to women on private communications; please understand… Furthermore, I understand your frustration.
      Go out and get a product called Roman 977; this is what Phillip Jefferies wants you to use, although I don’t always use it and I use RX 35; I called them once about that, and their response was not a ringing endorsement against RX, 35; but I’m telling you to do is good Roman 977 and put it right over your RX 35; there is no reason to reach out to you; this should be sufficient
