As an Army soldier who served along with a company of combat engineers with the 1st MEF in Iraq 2003-2004 for only 1 month, this is still one of the BEST commercials ever! SEMPER FI!
It's impossible to overstate how damned cool this commercial was! I've talked to other people, and this particular commercial seems to have struck a nerve with a lot of people. I was like 5 at the time, and this was the most awesome thing ever- it was during the same time the Borg debuted on TNG!
Same, I was six when I saw this and it burned itself into my mind so strongly that, well, I'm here 29 years later commenting on it. Love the rip-off of Carmina Burana; really makes it! Alas, it didn't convince me to enlist, but it did sell me on Battle Chess!
♥️🌿🇺🇲🌿♥️ This commercial is what both of my kids saw, and instantly they knew what they were going to be when they grew up. They made their dream come true. Thank you to all that have worn the uniform protecting our freedom. ♥️🇺🇲♥️🌿♥️🇺🇲♥️
Dungeons and Dragons was popular then , for one, and this could really speak to that generation. A lot fantasy type movies were still coming out in late 80s, so this fit the pop culture I think. I remember this commercial when I was 3 or so, it was so inspiring and still is.
YESSS! Brings Back memories i Remember this Commercial The Music Is What makes it cool, interesting that I Still remember the song From Such A Long Time ago
If there's one thing I learned is that when you confront your opponent, don't underestimate the enemy. Find your enemy's weak spot then strike the enemy down.
I found my way here remembering this commercial over the past few days. I couldn’t even remember what the ad was for, just two knights on horseback fighting in a CGI fantasy world and how cool it looked in Jr High in the late 80s or early 90s. USMC commercial. Better times for America.
Your brain probably cross-overed with the 1979 Excalibur movie. King Arthur and his Knights ride out of the castle for one last battle, restoring the land as O Fortuna plays. Not a bad thing to cross-wires with. ;)
@wilburfatness Yeah it was weird though, right after I killed him I had magically changed into Dress Blues. Love the Corps but we had some crazy commercials back then.
This song seems to have been composed specifically for this commercial. I can understand most of the Latin lyrics. It starts with “Loyalty (fides), Honorable manhood (virtus), next word unclear clear to me, we have (habemus).” Another line is “You will conquer/overcome (vinces)!” One of the refrains is “Glory! (gloria), Homeland! (patria)”

When i saw this as a teen in the early 1990’s, i was shook to the core. I wanted to be a Marine, a modern day night and fight and kill evil, and fucken make evil ffucken bow before me like in the commercial!!
Funny thing is, this commercial could actually be a metaphor for the Gulf War (Desert Storm) as it came out at the end of that war when they needed to find intelligent and strong Marines (since the Marine's that went to the Gulf War had a little friendly fire problem)
I’m not sure, is this the United States Marines commercial that was animated by Blue Sky Studios? If not, which one was that? Somebody please answer me. Thank you.
While I don’t know the name of the studio that worked on the animation, I can tell you that this ad was directed by the director of Chariots of Fire and Tarzan: The Legend of Greystoke.
That's odd and hilarious. I was born in 1990, joined the corps at 18 and now I find this commercial in the weird part of CZcams. @ Bumbley1, the worst part was the full plate and cavalry charges in 110 degree weather.
Well....this is a sexist, misogynist commercial! I prefer "Emma"!!! An entire battalion of Emma's hopefully!!!!!!! Thank God our military has "evolved"!!!
I distinctly remember fighting a dark wizard in Iraq so this commercial is spot on.
hahaha, dam!! sarcasm at its finest! Semper Fi brother, “wherever you are”
That wizard was no joke especially in that shining armor hot as fuck and I'm not talking about the queen wizard.
That is an EVIL CLERIC!
No matter how many times I read this comment it never gets old!

This is the best Marine Corps commercial of all time...
Still one of the most epic commercials of all time.

This probably brought the most recruits lol

When I first saw this ad on TV, I thought it was a commercial for the video game "Battle Chess".
You too huh?
The bishop was invoking the power of God as they did in the game. The queen was a witch.
YESSS! Brings Back memories i Remember this Commercial The Music Is What makes it cool, interesting that I Still remember the song From Such A Long Time ago
I love how our knight moves as one on the board.
The bishop does too as does the pawn.
Nothing beats the 🤴 calling his knight to battle.
Two pawns illegally attack a knight at the same time, demonstrating the perfidy of America's enemies!
If there's one thing I learned is that when you confront your opponent, don't underestimate the enemy. Find your enemy's weak spot then strike the enemy down.
Alan Bourbeau tl;dr chess

We went from this awesome recruiting video to Emma and my two mommies?? This generation is lost.......
All thanks to the woke bandwagon.
Yes! I remember I wanted to join the marines as a kid just by watching this commercial. I know exactly u mean! People are so lost SMDH🤦🏻♂️
I could have sworn they used O Fortuna for the music to this commercial. That's how I remembered it. But memory is a tricky thing!
Same here. I just looked up this video to confirm my memory. I actually think the song in this version is far more inspiring.

Awesome spot brings back memories I wish I can get the music sounds very crusade like
What a fantastic commercial. I love it. Thank you for uploading.
A month of Hard Crueling nights in February shooting this.
Just came by to watch Major McCormick in this commercial after watching his epic grilling of Fauci in Congress. Honor to have served with you, sir!
I remember seeing this as one of the commercials at the Drive in I used to go to when I was a kid
From the Halls and to the Shores……God bless and protect the USMC, Semper Fi.
Still miss the dragon commercial.
I am having flash backs of that time in Afghanistan when my company was ambushed by a three headed dragon. That ice dragon wiped out my whole company.

Kneel before Zod.
The Marine Corps have come a long way.
Cheesy? Maybe... at least its not a cartoon about my two moms.
One of the chess pieces looks like it came from Babylon 5.
well that was the weirdest thing I've ever seen... i will never UN-see that

Where can I find this specific song title and who sing it can someone let me know please
Does anyone know what that beautiful song is?

How did this get approved lmao

I think the marine cheated to get to the King.
Wow way to lure wow players to join the corps, of course I guess that's the majority of our youth
Haggardsteverudolph this came out before the original Warcraft lol
That horses neck should never be torqued like that. Poor riding skills.
This is bullshit! I was not commissioned as a salty O-2 after defeating BDSM General Zod.
Not sure why I'm getting recommended this on terminal leave. Bye Corps. 👋
someone had to be high as a kite to make this
