You can't burn off a whole fast food meal with a workout session. But you don't have to. You just need to burn out the difference in calories between that fast food meal, and the alternative meal you would have eaten if you'd had a healthy meal. And that's possible with a nice 1h30 run. Of course in general you cannot have a bad diet and expect to loose weight. But the calories you burn exercising, if you exercise > an hour a day, are not insignificant. There's a reason that people in military training can eat 4/5 thousand calories a day and still lose weight. If you're having a chocolate 3 or 4 times a week but you're exercising say 8 hours a week then you're absolutely going to burn the excess calories through exercise. And if you're eating healthy/in moderation the rest of the time, you may lose weight.

Great video! Diet and rest are the most important things, that a lot of people neglect. I really appreciate the part in which you talk about muscle soreness, because this misconception is the cause of injuries. This way to train increase the level of stress in the body that leads to the production of too much cortisol and free radicals. In less words: bad training make us getting old faster!

@@GeorgeMilkasIgore hi George, I didn't have much time earlier hence the short reply. The main cause of T2D is obesity. Sugar *can* factor in, sure, but very little. Being fat is the main cause.
Personally I was consuming 1kg of sugar for almost a year and took a diabetes test at the end. Result? No sign of it whatsoever.
People are told things like fruit, honey etc is good, but to avoid processed sugar. Your body does not know the difference, molecularly.
A few fellow cyclist friends of mine avoid sugar but have no problems using energy gels which ultimately converts down to glucose. but nooo, sugar is so bad...!
And, c'mon - you said "Super Market foods contain sugars and preservatives that are way harmful to our bodies". Sounds very much like "sugar is bad", no?
I'm just fed up of sugar being demonised.

The 7th misconception never fails to amuse me to this day. Eating at McDonalds while trying to get in shape IMO is BY FAR the biggest roadblock for most ordinary people (by “ordinary” I mean a stereotypical person that decides to improve one’s physical form).
I, of course, was exactly the same and it didn’t even crossed my mind to question that: I’ve worked very hard physically so now I can have all the sugar and processed fats I want - my body will (magically, of course) turn it into muscle 😄

Regarding dieting: Does your body really use all the calories you consume?
A bag potato chips may technically contain 1300 kilo-calories but that measurement was not taken by looking how much it would contribute to somebody's metabolism.

If you eat a lot and have a huge stomach, fat included, then no you wont get as many calories from the same food, your body gets inefficient.

    • @jasonreed7522
      @jasonreed7522 Před 8 měsíci +1

The 2 big things here are:
      1. Every pound of fat contains 3,300kcals, so you yave to eat a ton of calories to get fat. Its not any 1 meal that makes you fat, its the long term consistency of over consumption of calories that makes you fat.
      2. Food calories are measured by burning the food to ash in a special device called a bomb calorimeter, this will extract more energy from food than the body is able to. However, we can all still learn how many listed calories we require to maintain our current lifestyles even if we are overcounting. Its just way easier to measure them this way than to measure the actual absorbtion and expenditures of the body.
An alternative way of measuring is by macronutrient amounts:
      4kcal/g of carbs
      4kcal/g of protien
      7kcal/g of ethanol
      9kcal/g of fat
PS: one standard drink of alcohol (ethanol) is worth 98kcal from just the alcohol content, and this is often dropped from the label.

I've been listening to Dr. Andy Galpin recently to get the no BS way to build strength/muscle. Also, Sven's 20% body fat look still looks better than most of us :)

Poor Sven... he's going to be "the fat guy" in these videos for years to come.

Question like that. Can't really find an answer to that. I am kinda old, 42 yo and have high blood pressure and a start of diabete. I want to get back in shape but doctor say to do jogging. Trouble is i weight 270 pounds and when i run, my feet hurt and swole, turning purple and can't walk for a week and if i put to much intensity in the next 3 week, it's back to square 1 and can't walk for 1 week.
So i was wondering. Is there a good exercise i can do that won't break my foot and help me lose weight? Or is there a trick to avoid breaking my foot while jogging like running in grass to soften the blow or something?

Your doctor is right about jogging, but there are many other things you can do. I suggest a mix between low impact strength/eundurance exercises + some low impact cario like swimming, cylcing, walking, crosstrainer etc.
For the strength exercises take a look at this video: czcams.com/video/KeNObkhENKQ/video.html
Avoid the too hard stuff in the beginng and focus on low impact jumping jacks, linclined push ups, swimmers, squats, planks, etc.

@@calimove Thanks for the reply. I have an old bike in the backyard, will have to do some major maintenance on it but will give it a try. :) Probably gonna start to push up to. :)

All the water resistance adds up, you never get hot, knees are fine, and you can walk a lot faster than little 100lb clowns can swim, thanks to the weight. Give it a shot.
