    I've had an 18 HP Johnson on the shelf in my warehouse for over a year now that I got from my grandfather that I'm going to do this with one day and put on a little jon boat or something so I can have fun inshore when it's too rough offshore.

    i have a merc 7.5, mercury 18xd, merc 135, and seagull silver century that were engines pulled from the bottom of the lake. they all run great now.

    I love using that BRP blue grease on most things. I've never seen it in a plastic container like that before.

    Great mechanic cut from the cloth of the old school mechanics/machinist of the old days. Many of the new mechanics are one trick service manual guys with a throw new parts at it mentality. For that matter we as a society are too disposal minded and want to just buy new ones.

    I wonder if you guys ever used Marvel Mystery oil .. We use it up north and its amazing ...And that's exactly why Marvel is so awesome ..your rings pistons even cylinder bores will come back pretty nice but not if water or sea water has started to do its thing ,,,Im really kind of shocked you don't have an Ultrasonic cleaner especially around sea water you drop stuck solid parts in and the next morning they work perfect and clean as hell..

    They are tough motors, some of the toughest Yamaha made. That one sure has not seen an easy life. If you decide to part it out though I could use the rotor.

    Hey bruh, for us “visual learners” would you consider a video regarding the newer Mercury 75, 90 and 115hp spark plug change? Specifically the removal of the number-4 plug, which is the most difficult to remove and re-install…🤬 P.S. Love-your-videos… 🛥🔧

    Be sure and tell new owner 2 of 4 WP bolts are broken off in the gearcase.

    Wow. That thing looks like it has less than 40 hours on it. Prop and lower unit still look new-ish.
    Bet it had a lot of idling time. 👍🏻

      I think someone just keep it clean on the outside thinking they where doing a good thing but what they really where doing is taking the grease away and causing all or at lest most of the problems. The motor needs that grease and most people don't know how or where to grease it. I have got a few outbound motors like that. I had a 15cc Yamaha in keywest for $100 that was very clean but didn't run and fixed it for a little time and some grease and cleaning the carb. It ran very well for years. It probably still running but hurricane Irma took it and my dingy away.

    So did you replace the impeller housings bolts ? Does that 9.5 turtle top run ? I can’t keep them in stock , I get one rebuilt and bam it’s sold ! Little ones heck that’s all I work on from 1913 to 1983 , 3/4hp to 25hp OMC’s mainly and Martins and Elgens .

    Hello I’m thinking about getting a 20’ pontoon boat with a 1988 tohatsu 30 on it I’m no mechanic but can do carb cleaning and small things is that a good motor is it dependable or is it like a force no one wants them thanks for the videos and advice

      Got a 1989 M70 a2 Tohatsu which is pretty much the same as your 30 Hp. Just had to change out the CDI ignition with a generic replacement but beside that it has been dependable.

    i just got a 2018 suzuki 9.9 for $180. runs perfectly but the only problem is that the power trim dosent collapse 100% down, id say like 90% it does. freaking hell of a deal. Electric start is nice to have to. any tips on what could be a possible culprit with that power trim and tilt?

      Check the manual release tilt it all the way up then crack the screw the manual release all the way down also check to make sure there no trim bar some times Infront of the power trim and tilt

    I get the economics of paying you to do this but hate throwing perfectly good stuff away. I grew up repairing mowers, tv’s, vcr’s, and the like and we are now in a throw away society. Aside from the environment mess it causes it’s better to find a new home and loved that you saved this!
