BREAKING: Sandro Tonali handed two-month suspended ban for 50 breaches of FA's betting rules

Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali has been handed a two-month suspended ban for 50 breaches of the FA's betting rules.
Tonali joined Newcastle in a £55m move from AC Milan in the summer and is currently banned from competitive football until August 2024 for betting on matches in Italy.
He was then charged with 50 further breaches of FA Rule E8 for placing bets on football matches between 12 August 2023 and 12 October 2023, after he had joined the Magpies.
The two-month ban is suspended until the end of the 2024/25 season, meaning he will be banned from all football-related activity for that period of time if he makes another breach, but will be able to return from August 27 if he avoids further sanctions. He has also been fined £20,000 and warned by the FA as to his future conduct.

This becomes corruption. No one would want to watch football matches that are staged.
And Tonali can guarantee to make money on these bets. In normal circumstances, it should not exist a way that you can guarantee to make money from betting.

There's a minimum of 500 players in the EPL. 25-man squad, multiplied by 20.
Only 2 were banned for betting. That's 0.4%
99.6% of players are compliant. They followed the rules despite betting sponsorship.

I understand having punishments for players gambling to keep the competitive integrity but I can’t understand why they are so harsh to players and then they defend referees and VAR that ruin the competitive integrity each week.
One is corruption, the other is simply incompetence. Get it?

I watch regularly Football from leagues of Brazil, Argentina, Spain, England, Portugal, Italy, Germany, Mexico, USA and tournament regulated by CONMEBOL, UEFA, FIFA etc and all are the same thing not big difference...
The VAR is a tool that can be manipulated very easily by anyone else who is interested...

Something needs put in place for players, don't PUNISH THEM, HELP THEM!! Just as bad as someone addicted to drugs or drink!
I think that’s fair. It’s the same timeline as the ban he has already received a large punishment for. The deterrence part of this is already done.
Tonali has been getting treatment in that time. There’s nothing to gain adding more punishment on top. It could even derail such treatment when rehabilitation is the only remaining priority. Let him get his life back on track.

I'm sort of for either side. I mean I understand why you shouldn't be betting, for competitive integrity. But really that's possible no matter what you play or do. Like its one thing to not bet on the games you are directly involved in, but for any other game it doesn't make sense. Sure you could have a friend in that game, but you could have a friend in any sport, so it doesn't make sense there

These bets are before his Italy ban happened.
Well Toney committed 232 offences and began by denying knowledge of them and then admitting some before admitting all. Tonali has only 50 breaches and actually brought them to the FA voluntarily so they’re more lenient with him. But Toffolo had 375 breaches and gets off with a 5 month suspended sentence

A young, rich guy constantly bombarded with gambling ads while at work is bound to be tempted to bet. The worst part is the addictiveness of it. Punishments like this are all well and good, and I like the fact Tonali is getting the support he needs, but gambling ads need to go altogether. You don't see any cigarette ads anymore, for similar reasons.
If I was Newcastle I'd cut ties with him, he's gonna do it again and Newcastle can't have they're big players not playing
