Ange Postecoglou has described Tottenham's match with Manchester City on Tuesday night as "the worst experience I've had as a football manager" and said that he feared observers would question his integrity if Spurs lost heavily.
Ahead of the game, there was a big focus on how a Tottenham win would give their arch-rivals Arsenal the advantage in the Premier League title race over City going into the final weekend of the season.
Postecoglou scoffed at pre-match suggestions Spurs supporters would rather see their side lose to boost City's chances of beating Arsenal to the crown. But on the night there was a subdued atmosphere at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with City's goals in their eventual 2-0 win even cheered by some Spurs fans. There were also chants from the Spurs supporters, when their team had fallen behind, taunting Arsenal.

I do not understand why critics keep conflating the the attitude of Spurs fans with the ambition of the club. The fans did not lose five out of six matches. That is down to the players and coach. There was no realistic chance of catching Villa! Arsenal fans gloat over every success. They still might win the league. And I can just imagine the reaction if they do.
On Tuesday night Spurs played well. The man of the match was a substitute keeper who only played for twenty minutes. Doesn’t that tell you something?

There is something missing in him as a tactician, his style of play was great early in the season, but then other teams soon learnt how to combat it and we never changed it or maybe couldn’t? Hence the recent poor form involving heavy defeats. I for one will be watching our last game nervously.

"...prehistoric..." with reference to VAR! So true. While everyone has a view of VAR one way or another, I have seen no one in the media (pundits, footballers, ex-footballers, referees, ex-referees Uncle Tom Cobley and all) actually questioning the intrinsic accuracy of the actual measuring system that delineates the placement of the 'measuring' lines used; those across the pitch with respect to their angle to the side of the pitch, thickness of the lines, the distance between the attacker and defender's lines; and the vertical lines that drop from the leading, scoring edge of those players. Does the VAR team actually get a read out of the respective measurements or do they have to judge visually once the system has placed the lines on the screen? If they use system measurements what is the inherent accuracy of those measurements, eg +/_ x mm for distances, +/- y degrees for angle. And how often is the system calibrated and are those data made available to the public? If they rely on a visual assessment is the VAR operators' eyesight tested? What about colour blindness. etc etc etc. It's the blind leading the blind here. I have seen no one question the accuracy of the actual software used. It's all been about usage. If the actual accuracy of the system was made known then anything within the error limits of any single one measurement could be rejected as being 'too close to call' - so a third decision should be added: 'Offside', 'Onside', 'Too Close to call so not Offside'. I'd be happy with that. Of course the subjective view on non-measured incidents such as fouls in the penalty box, red cards etc will still remain. That needs more stringent defining of what is a 'foul' with the definition being more on the side of the defender and the clear showing of intention. It'll never happen though........
