This Lion El' Heresy was based off Kim Chan (paint_newbs) artworks and lore synopsis's that I then merged with my own alternative heresy lore.

This was not done in collaboration with Paint_newb, more so me wanting to do a Lion El' Heresy for a while now and the happy coincidence of him pouring his heart and soul into a similar concept. Obviously there is alot of details and characters missing as well as some questionable motives due to how compressed the video was trying to fit all the main details but I hope it was entertaining!

Imma be real, I don't like how you made Vulkan a daemon prince. Him consuming an Avatar of Khaine was very interesting, so the daemonic ascension sounded redundant. Aside from that, most of the scinerio was amazing, even if it had its rough spots. We need the whole story, Majorkill! We need the whole story!
Sanguinius as the Daemon Primarch of Khorne is way scarier than canon Angron.
Seeing as a tired Sanguinius wrecked Demon Angron, Demon Sanguinius would have ripped any Primarch in half easily

@@deusvult6164 I'd like to think Khorne loves him for it. That he can see what Angron should have been; his honor, compassion and willingness to fight anything regardless of the odds for what he saw as right and just. Sees his own corruption with what self-awareness a Choas god can have in how he was born to those ideals and twisted into what he is by the savagery of mortal actions and their refection upon him.
Dumb as fuck, I know, but I'd like to the Chaos gods are still affected by their origin. Tzeentch is happy eve to be twarted, Nurgle's just a good guy doing his best and Khorne still hating people that kill the easy, weak kills. After all, for all the saying is "Khorne cares not from whence the blood flows" he clearly and objectively does.
I feel like if Lorgar had remained loyalist, he could have developed into a really cool character.

@@punec I have a degree in Anthropology so please let me vomit information at you :) he has elements of early Christianity, traditional Judaism, and Golden Age Islam. With him having the Turkish features of the Emperor, it definitely adds that "mysterious Middle Eastern religion" vibe. Think Exodus era Judaism mixed with the high culture of the Islamic nations under the Caliphs (during the era of the European Dark Age). Add crusader era Christianity fanaticism (back when men were men and unbelievers were purged) lmao

I like how alt heresies give Lucius' scars a different origin, from Roboutian a reminder of the torture horror the Druhkari can inflict, to Alternatus to the nightmarish scenario that was the Istvaan massacre.

You know, I like how this version of the Heresy isn't just "hey, what if everyone's role was reversed" but actually had some major shakeups to later events as well. Like with Rogal becoming an renegade instead of a true traitor, the slight civil war among the traitors when the Emperor backed up Horus, Malcador living, and Magnus becoming the primarch of the Grey Knights.
Except is it plagued by dozens of "Lol role reversed" parts with Russ being especially pathetic in that regard. Tzeentch doesn't reflect a single thing about his personality or his Legion at all.
@@grimnir8872 Really feels like he got short-end of the stick in that Khorn already wanted Sanguinius, so the most fitting chaos god for the angry wolf was already taken. Slannesh and nurgle make even less sense, but playing with the 'totally not magic' his people use, and his people changing shape into wolves as being marked by Tzeench... it's not great but I see why they made it that way for the retelling. I agree that it feels the weakest of all the reversals
@@grimnir8872 Leman hates psykers while coming up with the most asinine defence for his own psykers while having a legion filled with the potential to mutate and Russ having his own innate psychic powers. Doesn't help that he was tricked an ungodly number of times and didn't do what he claimed to do. The Emperor's Executioner thing was an entirely self-proclaimed title. He almost killed Horus but hesitated because he felt bad. Meanwhile, he didn't hesitate to snap Magnus over his fucking knee or burn his fucking homeworld to the ground. This doesn't mention that his legion was given literal animal DNA. Tzeentch could literally turn all of them into werewolves. He is prime material for Tzeentch.
To be fair I've always seen the space wolves as Traitors not necessarily as in worshipping chaos but in the true sense of the word.
They betrayed their brothers of the thousand sons I have no doubt in my mind Magnus did not do anything intentionally wrong and had he contacted the Emperor in time, the Emperor wouldn't have approved the slaughter of the thousand sons and betrayal of the Space wolves.

My headcanon is that for Rylanor, he was more than willing to stay behind on Istvaan so Fulgrim could escape with the others but Fulgrim made him leave. "You are Rylanor, the Ancient of Rites. The legion still needs you, but not as a martyr."
And Rylanor saying "Father, I will always by your son now and always" and becomes the Bjorn of this setting

@@sev1120Even better; as the centuries pass, Bjorn slowly begins to succumb to the Curse of the Wulfen, morphing into this horrifying abomination of a techno-organic werewolf, leading to a massive wolf-on-wolf battle between the Daemon Primarch and his twisted but loyal son.
@@TheCorrodedMan or another idea: Bjorn fully succumbs DURING the battle with Russ, devastated by what his primarch has become, and in this moment of grief and hatred, that is when the curse takes over.
And it is then said that all those who hunt the tainted russ, are guided by a great wolf through the heavens, one whose fury could devour gods themselves, whose maw can consume suns. Bjorn the Fell-Handed, becomes Bjorn the Ravener (a reference to one of Fenrir's epithets in Norse mythology)
Its nice to see space wolves not becoming khorne demons
I would've thought they would be more slanesh type demons. Since they would indulge in thier more primal urges hence giving into corruption.

It makes basically no sense, it would arguably make more sense for Russ and the Space Wolves to fall to Nurgle to oppose the supreme Tzeentch favouritism the Thousand Sons have. You could easily write a scenario where Russ's assault on prospero utterly fails, and Magnus predicts the fleet in orbit, casting a great spell to hurl them into the warp. Stuck there, Russ' legion shares the fate of the Death Guard, swearing an oath of defiance and Revenge which Nurgle answers, casting the Space Wolves onto the planet as Drauger-like Plague Wolves.
To be fair many legions could be Khorne's dogs. White scars, Space Wolves, Blood Angels... Khorne can choose 😄
I think it would be extremely fitting if both rylanor and fulgrim hold off whilst horus and conrad retreat with their legions. Instead of rylanors last stand in cannon it would be the emperors children, primarch and sons loyal to the end to protect the emperor

Lorgar and Konrad getting their act together and becoming good is actually wild in any setting, and a lot more interesting than them being what they are in canon
I love the idea of Magnus leading the Grey Knights, feels rather ironic and fitting at the same time.
He couldn't save his first borns, but he will be there for his younglings

magnus being given the grey knights is honestly a pretty badass detail even if it is unthinkable inside the boundaries of the established lore
it would also save the grey knights from the shackles of the inquisition, as they had a real leader that was far above them, like the other astartes chapters.
The Emperor litteraly propose that to Magnus in the established lore.
Also with malcador alive, the inquistion would be less....asburd. It's likely Malcador would guide the inquistors from the shadows and prevent the order from becoming too zealous.

I don't like it. The Lion is too cool of a Primarch to turn traitor. Simple as. The Horus Heresy in canon is decent enough writing for me. Dornian Heresy is my favorite alt history

There's so many alternative heresies now in fanfiction, like Halloween costumes in Buffy fanfic it's its own genre by now. Personally I like the ones where we get a mix of Traitors and Loyalists. Not just a reversal. Or the ones where the Heresy did not happen. Imperium Ascendant!

Meaning, we could see even more adventures with him- as he makes his way through fighting with each imperial guard regiment; inspiring legends of an unknown soldier who comes from no regiment, but without fail; aids the imperial guard in losing wars, showing a level of skill compared to or even above a commissar, perhaps even at the level of an astartes. . While only armed with the everyday lasgun and dressed in only the dirtiest of flak armor. . . Defeating hordes of foes with just these items, and commanding those who were at the brink of destruction to *Hold The Line.*

Ollanius *Persson* has been with Big E since he grew to adulthood many millennia ago when they were both a couple of proto-hittites that happened to be perpetuals. When the emperor met Erda, they together went on adventures with their newly formed army with Ollanius being referred to by the emperor as... *His warmaster*
Yes, Ollanius Pious is technically the original warmaster of the emperor.
@lukeBryen2 Fair, but I argue he does not need to be a living saint with him as a perpetual, since it brings forth a cool storyline of him appearing before the emperor himself and instead filling the role of the average soldier.
We could probably even see him on the other side of this spectrum, as he may be recruited by Rogal Dorn to fight for him, since he always fought on the losing side of a war at most times.
@@csmrookie9600But at the same time, him gaining a Living Saint ability may grant him powers he never had as a normal Perpetual. He could appear on any world, at any time, helping any war, rather than being held down by needing to physically go somewhere.
Oh also, and I didn't see the Guardsmen as Ollanius Pious, but as Ollanius Piers, a Guardsmen who stood alone against Angron and even tried to kill him. What clued me in was the Banner he holds, and wearing Imperial Army gear. This Ollanius is the one who says "Defend him as he defends us!" Just my own interpretation.

Though anyways, as a living saint I bet he wouldn't have angel wings but came in a flash of golden light and draped in golden guardsman armor.
From there you can see him display his absolute killy power from fighting as a soldier of many wars and armies. . . Displaying a level of skill that is equal to the Black Lucifers or even Custodians.
You ought to look into the “Fulgrimian” Heresy next, it’s well developed, far more Primarchs remain loyal than traitor (Morti, Horus, Perturabo remain loyal while the Khan and Manus go traitor).

that is interesting, I say It would still be a match If the Chaos gods Give him Full Support and not half assing him, with Insane Management, logistics and Organization skill, a man who can turn Legions Into champions against The Imperium.
Seeing as in this scenario he represents Chaos Undivided, it'd be pretty cool to see how Guilliman would perform if his abilities are used against the Imperium. He's not driven mad, or signing an obligation to spill as much blood as possible, so as he's arguably the best Primarch when it comes to organised warfare, I think he could be a much bigger problem for the Imperium than the Black Legion ended up being
An alternate universe where the Black Templars are a Word Bearer successor chapter and they use the flaming body of Erebeus as a unit standard would be badass af😊
I think a video on the first founding chapters and the relationships with there successors would be cool

Honestly Mortarians stance in this makes a lot of sense and would make sense in canon. Also dark Guilliman is amazing looking
Why i feel like if Vulkan ever became traitor his plans would be like: "Guys i got an idea, when its night, we put uncofortable pillows in the imperium's citiziens houses, so they will always wake up in a bad mood, eventually joining us against the Emperor"
What if the worst alternate heresy is when nobody turns traitor and things get even worse than any one warmaster could ever do. Like the golden throne is completed and it just lets the chaos Pantheon step into real space.
I don't think the chaos pantheons can go to real space in their entirety, as they are tied to the warp.

There was a version where the Emperor completed the webway project, only for him too late to realize that he's acting according to Chaos' grand plan and unintentionally unleashed Chaos Undivided all over Terra - The Emperor and his Custodes would be corrupted, but all his sons scattered throughout the galaxy, would remain Loyalists.

The idea of Luther being loyal to the emperor is so cool. He would probably be the main leader for the loyalist rebels in this version of the Istvaan 3 atrocity. But I bet he would escape, make it back to terra and then he will get the title of the emperor's champion that Sigismund had in canon.
A video on Lorgar actually dying from Corvus and theorizing how the Heresy would go afterwards would be very interesting. I see it as a victory for the Loyalists where the Emperor never gets stuck on the Golden Throne. There would be no Daemon Prince Angron, potentially no Ruinstorm, and a less devastating Shadow Crusade
But couldn't Erebus and Kor Phaeron do the same thing especially if the Dark Gods chose them as their go-to sorcerers?

I sure as crap don't see either of them turning Angron into a Daemon Prince but Erebus would still probably try to make Kharn the Champion of Khorne. The Word Bearers Legion I feel would also end up split like it became post-Heresy in canon as both Kor Phaeron and Erebus try to overtake the other for control of the Legion
The big problem with the Loyalists winning and more specifically the Emperor not ending up on the Throne, is that the Emperor can finish the Webway Project and humanity likely never forms the Ecclesiarchy, and also technology likely doesn't suffer nearly as bad. So in other words, humanity wins 40k, at least until the Tyranids arrive. But even then, the Emperor could possibly see the Tyranids coming, and begin to prepare for them thousands of years in advance
@@anthony2678The Reason the Emperor dedicated his Custodians and Sisters of Silence to the Battle of the Webway for as long as he did was in the slight chance he could salvage it and repair the damage. The reason he then chose to withdraw his forces from it was due to him realizing that it was no longer possible to repair the Webway damage.
What a Noblebright setting there could have been
Man I think I love this version of the heresy a lot more than the real one. I especially love Lorgar(for frying Erebus and carrying him around) and Dorn(for always wearing his gimp suit and going doom slayer on everyone - honestly he sounds a lot more likeable here :D). An Idea for Dorn is he could embrace Malal/Malice since he has that renegade thing going on - hating everyone and trying to kill everyone, especially the chaos gods. Also the black and white thing and the thorns also kinda works with Dorn and the Imperial fists in this heresy. I love it!

Cyclopean (Magnus did something wrong), Sanguinary (Angel fallen, obviously), Lorgar's Discovery (nuts, Angron ended up on the side of... eldar) and from russian 40K community Rebellion of Horus (with Horus actually being AU Magnus and not a traitor at all, Imperium split on three factions - loyalist, chaos, Imperium Secundus).
UPD: Also Fulgrimean.
@@user-xw5xo3bv1n I like the Icarion Heresy a lot. But it's with 18 different legions and primarchs. Really cool ones tho - like an aztec looking legion that falls to chaos or a legion that specialises in underwater and void battles or legions of blanks who nullify psychic powers. Really cool stuff but sadly they aren't as fleshed out.
So basically in every alternate Heresy, any Primarch who's chosen to be the Warmaster ends up falling to Chaos and become the Arch-Traitor against the Imperium.

Only the Warmaster has the ability to marshall forces and deploy them in such a way to even give the Heresy a chance, by putting his own forces in the best possible places and the loyalists in the worst.

I've always wanted to see a "Volcanic Heresy" that puts, you guessed it, Vulkan as the arch traitor.
He has the anger of khorne, the kindness of Nurgle, the mind of Tzeentch and the sensitivity of slaneesh, he has weapons capable of breaking Terra in half, he doesn't need his brothers, but he gives them all a chance to join them, but if they don't, there is no mercy.

I am really surprised to see the Khan join Nurgal but honestly it makes the most sense, it would be the closest for him and how sons could ever get to freedom, a benevolent master is better that tyrannical one
It would severely nerf his Chapter though. White Scars like to go fast, Nurgle's armies tend to be more on the slow but tanky side.

No the closest match for him would be Khorne. Nurgle is literally anathema to the Khan and the White Scar philosophy, which is why he was squared off against his exact opposite Mortarion in the Horus Heresy.

Guilliman as Warmaster launching Black Crusades from the Eye of Terror. This would actually make 10k years of conflict interesting.
I find it a bit if a stretch that Fateweaver would provide such accurate details of the future and that the Lion would put so much “faith” in visions from the same creatures he’d spent his life hunting and defeating, having been incorruptible all this time.

Of course major would call his own fan story the ultimate story.

Not often a fan of alternative versions however this has been very well presented. I like it
Wow. Insanely detailed with an actually good ending that makes sense (unlike some others).
I honestly really love how Mortarion was in this version of the heresy. He seems more like that of fleshed out character and a relatable one at that. You did an amazing Job at making each Primarch extremely believable and compelling. This is my favorite alternative heresy ever.
This interpritation of the white scars falling to nurgle for the "endless hunt" is the best one ive seen of all the alternate hereseys, never understood why it was sangy and ferus in the others.
I wish Guilliman wasn’t really glanced over. He’s probably the most steadfastly loyal Primarch after the Lion in actual canon. Like, his whole schtick post-resurrection is that he’ll never give up no matter how bad things get. I feel like it’d take some seriously convoluted plotting to get him to fall.
That said, I love this alternate take on Fulgrim in particular, going out like an absolute Chad on Isstvan, holding the line as the rearguard. It honestly sounds better than Ferrus’ own canonical plot-line, which is kinda funny/sad.

I'd love to get a detailed rundown of Dan Abett's alternative Heresies proposal. I only know brief summaries of Angron, Magnus, and Alpharius. Apparently Dan also discussed Dorn and Guilliman Heresies, and allegedly he described the popular fanworks, the Dornian Heresy and the Roboute Heresy, almost to a T.
Having that info would be a good video to have.
Seeing a loyal Abaddon would be interesting.

The writers are cowards for not using the lions last name for the Heresy’s title like the others. The Johnson Heresy will forever be in my heart and mind.
After speaking on Wes and his recent burnout, I think this video is the impetus for an entire string of videos in a new category. This theory alone, could have an entire playlist going through each individual Primarch's story as it would shift based on this alternative heresy. A 20 to 30 minute video explaining every single change in the lore from the beginning of the heresy to the end of it for each individual Primarch sounds like an incredible amount of content you could create. It would also be a great opportunity to collaborate with Baldy and Wes to boost all of your channels.
Probablty one of the few fan ficts where Perturabo came out better than just usually dying in them.

While I do prefer alternative heresies ending worse for the loyalists as it reinforces cannon choices, this is a really good scenario that I can't help but love
I don't know what happens next because it's my first jump into the Lionel Heresy, but having a chaos Guilliman as Warmaster of Chaos in the current timeline feels way more dangerous than anything else.

Imagine if vulkan and angron had their planets switched. Angry boy gets to grow up not being tortured and forced to fight and the massive, immortal, huggable vulkan gets the nails and becomes a bigger and tougher probably more effective murder machine.

What's scarier about G-Man being warmaster is that it wouldn't have taken him 13 black crusades to destroy Cadia, maybe 3 at most. And Sanguinius being banished instead of permakilled is way worse than every time Angron came out to wreck stuff

This was a awesome video on what could have happened. And not just a role reversal but clear changes that would have happened due to the switch of sides and taking each primarch attributes and personality into effect. Your channel is one of the main reasons i am huge into the universe. Id love to see your thoughts on what the 40k universe would look like if the heresy was put down before the the flames of traitors really started or your thoughts on what the current setting would be like if the heresy did not take place at all.
Been waiting for someone to cover this for some time.
Also, one question I really want answered from this timeline is what would the equivalent of the Primaris be? Would the Raptor project actually be successful at restoring the Loyalist legions down the line, with people like Fabius and Malcador spearheading the research and it being under the protection from the Thousand Sons to prevent any Chaos interference? If successful and the Imperium being stabilized after a while, would the Imperium be capable of eventually continuing the Great Crusade at a slower pace?
This was cool, I personally believe the Lionel Heresy would have been the most devastating out of Horus or Dornian. Solid effort & it leads to the events of 40K but I believe at best the Lionel Heresy ends in failure but kills more loyalists and deals severely more damage while at worst it has the best chance at killing the Emperor & would still take a lot but could actually do it
Loyalist Lorgar is the best Lorgar ever! Konrad finally finding peace within him and becoming the ultimate judge jury and executioner is so cool and welcome. And I really like Tzeentch Space Wolves, that is super cool! Especially with what it would do to Mortarion. Nurgle Khan is really interesting too. And Magnus being the Primarch of the Grey Knights is so awesome! And the last stand of Fulgrim and him becoming a Living Saint is the most beautiful end for him possible.
All in all, this was a super cool AU that I really enjoy a lot.

The flood, easy especially when you know the lore of them. They make nurgle’s chaos corruption a much better choice compared to being infected by the flood

Malcador living is a serious boon to the Imperium. He knew what the long term plans were of Big E and how to achieve them. He also would have been able to manage the rulership of the Imperium such that a lot of things didn't take place that caused problems for the Imperium later on.
