The special forces of the Emperor, the Grey Knights, the talons of the Emperor, Psy-Titans, the Golden Banana Boys, just more layers of the forces that where created to conquer and control the galaxy.
But what else was hidden and hidden for reason, that he created a legion to serve humanity that was completely devoid of it. The antithesis of the Salamanders, their souls empty as the void that they crusade in. Beings so abhorrent that they alone stand against the unknown horrors beyond the galaxy.
None know their size as they are beyond his light, always beyond the light, a silent legion that waits the call, a son readied to bath the traitors in the blood of their battle brothers….
The Carchardons, are the forgotten and Tyberos is the Primarch thought dead.
The deadliest blade is the one that is unseen……

The Necrons have slowly but surely risen to my favorite faction bc of shit like this. They absolutely do not give a single fuck about the rest of the glaxy and quite frankly, dont really need to as, imo, they would likley win in all out war against any other faction. The only exception i could see is if the remaining Eldar united with the Empire, and if the Big E somehow came back. Even then I still dont think that'd be enough. The only real threat would be if the Dark Eldar decided to join with the Empire/Eldar, which they might for a bit but we all know how that scenario would end. Even even then, the Necrons fought against the Eldar in their glory, the Krorks, and the Old Ones combined and are still here. If the Orks somehow re-evolved into Krorks, and somehow aided the above hypothetical alliance, then, and only then, would I say a unified Necron force could be defeated. Key word being unified bc as it stands now in the lore, the Necrons are too disconnected to pose a significant threat. Still, if they were too unify, it would take the combined might of the entire galaxy to stop them. Its for that reason, and their absolute dont give a fuck approach to the other races, that the Necrons are the ultimate Chads of the Milky Way galaxy. Except Big E. Big E is gigachads dad.

I actually like when Grey Knights and the more “reasonable” Xeno’s actually have a small parlay. Kinda shows that when your mutual enemy is demons who can devour your soul or tear it apart like it’s a wet napkin, better to not kill eachother and choose to befriend one another.

i agree, i think 40k tries too hard to be grimdark and doesn't show factions working together as much as old fantasy did. i mean even the tomb kings, literal undead lords of nehekhara, the skeleton kings every DnD campaign would have the main enemy be, could still be negotiated with and talked to, so old fantasy was better at allowing a more fluid feeling situation.

    • @UnknownSquid
      @UnknownSquid Před 11 měsíci +20

Yeah, it's something I think a lot of fans and players forget. That whilst we all get to exist outside the setting looking in on it all, most factions and characters in the setting itself, have no more idea what is going on around them than you or I know what's going on in India, and most of the time, far far less. The Eldar are probably the only faction whose common citizens might have a decent overall grasp of the state of the galaxy.
The Imperium itself barely even has proper childhood education for the majority of it's citizens, let alone anything resembling an open internet or non-propaganda state media. The Orks don't give a shit spare for where the nearest fight is, and occasionally telling tales of "Oh yeah, I fought those gits once. Wuz a gud scrap". The Tau are very visibly still just learning about each new thing they stumble across as it happens, and simply don't have the reach to know much more. Necrons are spooky though, so who knows what they do or don't know.

While being powerful Psykers and therefore _not fond of Blanks,_ Grey Knights might find a Culexus assassin useful in permanently getting rid of a particular daemon and giving it *the true death.*
But it would require some planning and coordination utilising a intermediary, the assassins custodian, to pass the details back and forth. A face to face between the powerful Pariah and the powerful Psykers would not be a good idea.
The Grey Knights go in and soften up the target and kill the trash, then when they've weakened the big named daemon that needs to be deleted permanently, they withdraw quickly out of the firing zone and the Culexus assassin uses its Animus Speculum to completely server the target from the Warp and kill it permanently.
It never comes back and the Forces of Chaos lose a champion.
And if the target was a former Space Marine now a corrupted daemon or even a fallen Primarch (a major operation) or other named character, then the Imperium would celebrate the permanent destruction of the traitor.
Just leave Angron off the target list right now, that would piss off Ghazghkull on his Vengeance crusade.

Whenever eldar tried to be nice to humans and actually help them, humans reacted like that monkey with ak-47. Eldrad, the oldest and wisest of all farseers that still didn't turn to crystal, took the time out of his work ensuring the survival of his species to meet Fulgrim and talk to him about this alien sword he found, Fulgrim tried to kill him without even hearing him out. One of them bores into the mind of a captured space marine to look through his memories and the description was that it was like a sun burning away any hidden part of their mind. Reading about the Months of Shame made me really appreciate the Space Wolves, they were willing to fight the inquisition and a force of super never-before-seen space marines just to protect the Imperial Guard soldiers who fought chaos and survived.
My absolute favourite part is that the Space Wolves actually did a "peaceful protest" for a while: they never fired upon the Inquisition or Grey Knights at first, they just used their own ships as shields to take the fire from the Inquisitorial armada who were trying to shoot down every imperial guard ship, eventually the Lord Inquisitor in charge negotiated a parlay where they could all talk it out....but this was a trap to lure the Space Wolves into kill-range and then fired on them and broadcast a transmission DEMANDING the Space Wolves surrender surrender and submit to the Inquisiton. This betrayal of the sanctity of parlay pissed off Logan Grimnar (the SW chapter master) SO MUCH that he sent back a transmission saying he agreed and that he was going to teleport onto the Inquisition flag ship to surrender, instead he teleported onto the bridge of their flagship fully armed and accompanied by his personal guard all decked out in Terminator armour, he then DECAPITATED THE GREY KNIGHT GRANDMASTER before anyone could react, and then did a defensive retreat before teleporting back to his ship, at which point the Space Wolves ACTUALLY started fighting back.
The Inquisitor who initiated all of this basically shit his pants at realising just how badly he fucked up with his decisions, he starts wondering if he might have just initiated the Horus Heresy 2.0 if this continues and any other chapters find out and take the Space Wolves side (as a first founding chapter and former legion, they hold a lot of sway).
The whole thing was such a colossal mess that the name "Months of Shame" is very fitting.

The Months of shame were a complete mess. And allegedly ended up doing more damage to the space wolves and Fenris than Magnus the Red ever and cost dozens of space wolves and grey knights (who are hard as hell to replace). But it gets worse, several worlds were exterminatused where the Space Wolves dropped off refugees and several more fell to chaos because as it turns out there actually were some corrupted among the refugees.
To top it off though, this whole cluster fuck was started by a inquisitor who was uncorrupted by chaos and by all accounts was just a regular man who had a actually fairly unremarkable career as a inquisitor and just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and ended up costing the imperium several worlds and a large amount of damage done to a first founding chapter and the imperium's most useful anti-demon force.

Considering Nurgle himself took a fair good incineration at the Emperor's hand, it definitely proves they wont go down easy but hey, at least we know they can be killed. Though tbh even if they die, due to the nature of the warp its assured that a new version of said Chaos God would eventually be born. Obviously this is more likely for Korne, Nurgle, and Tzeench in that order. Slaneesh is the most likely to never return in some form given how hard it was for her to come into being in the first place, ie born so late in the game.

Its interesting to know that really, there are only really 2 general factions that the Grey knights actually genuinely acted kind and above all else, helped... and their general thoughts on such happenings. Sad not much happened between them and the Nekrons but considering they had just woken up and had to fight a deadly battle that nearly killed them, I guess it makes sense that at the time, they wouldn't really think much of it as they literally didn't have time to even process the chaos invasion. But for certain, the next time Nekrons or those ones in particular run into Grey knights they will likely not shoot them first and ask questions later, as they aren't stupid like that.
