    Nice to see the “Skipper” models are still available. Funny, I’ve never actually flown mine off water! Grass and snow, yup! I found it to be almost uncontrollably twitchy until I moved to the innermost servo arm holes. Now flies like it’s on rails.

      Good call! I will have to compare the servo arm positions and see what I have.

      @anttiruo Před 2 lety

      Did you just rip off the servo covers? I've limited servo travel to 40 %, but it would be more precise to have them at 100 % with less leverage. I wonder why they ship it in an unflyable configuration...

    1:10... At least on the golf course it won't have that "stick to water" tendency on takeoff. I fly my Skipper off a grassy runway. Also have the larger Skipper XL that I haven't flown yet. So may toys... not enough time...;-)

    • @DaveMerc
      @DaveMerc  Před 3 lety +1

      I am afraid I won't have room to make the wide turns with all those trees on the golf course..
      I want at least one flight off water before it bites the dust. :-)

      @@DaveMerc I was referring to the Skipper before you removed any parts.

    • @DaveMerc
      @DaveMerc  Před 3 lety +1

      Oh I get it. Would have been a good test for the old Skipper to see if the sticky lift off changed taking off the grass.

    • @GhostRyderFPV
      @GhostRyderFPV Před 3 lety +3

      Dave, listening to your old Skipper's flight at the end of this video, I don't think the motor ever went to full throttle? I wonder if a quick ESC calibration will solve the sticky issue? Both of mine get on step predictably, at which point I can tickle the elevator for a scale takeoff, or firewall the throttle and send it to the moon. I fly with either 3S 1500 graphene, just like yours, all the way up to a 4200mah 3S I made from 21700 cells, the same weight as a 2200mah Lipo.

      May be worth a try. I just thought the damage to the nose and all the glue was making it act up. I want to thank you again for telling me about the DragonFly. Now it's out of stock everywhere so I never would have got one in time it you hadn't given me the heads up. Thanks!

      @DaveMerc  Před 3 lety

      I knew it was like that but wanted to post it because that is the actual link I used to order my DragonFly. If they get more in stock it could work later. The other link is a UK site but they are also out of stock. If you find any please post a link. I will keep locking too.

    Mr. Dave tks for your efforts,.
    I'm thinking about buying Motion Rcs skynetic Dragon FLY. They started out at $289.00, marked down to $186.00 after bout 30 days on site, no reviews. So it's a sleeper. So seldom are these around,. I've no water birds, like the grass slide, as well, rainy conditions, wet field at my Flying club, would keep me in air between rain while club members are grounded, lol

    • @DaveMerc
      @DaveMerc  Před 2 lety

      Not sure there is a question in your post. They will take off the grass just fine if that's what you are worried about. Keep the aileron travel or throws very small or the roll will be uncontrollable. Elevator is ok to have more travel for lift off.

    There's a Depron version of this plane, it flew pretty good as I recall ...Good find Dave, we won't have access to it here in the UK though I'm guessing....

    • @DaveMerc
      @DaveMerc  Před 3 lety

      Yes I have the Depron version too. It's called the Polaris XL. I wish I had a lake closer to home where I could fly off water more often.
