James germaine this was a ridiculously risky and reckless fight to take for Hatton after the lay off. He wouldn't have had one less fan in that arena whoever the hell he fought. He should've chosen a tough game 26-5 fighter of a similar size, to excite people get his rhythm back and then make a 'call' on his future in the upper levels of the sport. To pick a very tall talented rangy former world champion in Senchenko stylistically bad matchup and a risky one at that. He was so close to the decision win, but so obsessed with scoring a knockout he got himself knocked out. Very sad final fight
I've never been a Hatton fan, but his words before "I want people to be proud of me again" and after the fight are rather sad. I'm not sure he ever really came to terms with not having it/being a boxer anymore. He needs to know that people will always remember him and what he had done for British boxing.
Thing is if he hadn't stepped away for nearly 4 years he probably still would have had it. He took the losses to Mayweather and Pacquiao really hard for some reason even though there's really no shame in losing to arguably the best two fighters of the entire generation. If he had just kept it together and stayed in the game he definitely still would have been a force in those middle divisions.
It was fucking heartbreaking that interview at the end love Ricky he was an will be remembered as one of the best fighters ever to lace gloves up from these shores true legend

Ricky didn't need to apologize to anyone! He gave it his best shot and went out on his shield like a warrior! We the British people love you and are proud of you! As an ex amateur boxer myself, boxing on and off over a period of 15years, having 44 fights, winning 33, losing 11, I know exactly how Ricky felt after losing! It's heartbreaking when you lose. Really takes a toll on you, especially if you've been working hard towards the fight. I.e. Running 5 mornings a week, gym 6 days a week, sparring hard and dieting to make weight! Doing all that only to stumble at the final hurdle! I remember boxing in the ABA's. I was training and dieting hard (practically starving myself) to make flyweight(8 stone) but on the day I was 3 pounds overweight so my coach decided to put me in as a bantamweight (8 stone 7pounds). I was already weight drained, dehydrated and I didn't feel strong at all but agreed anyway. My opponent looked massive compared to me, and was at least 4 inches taller. It was 5 two minute rounds and I out boxed him for the first 3 but in the 4th he hit me with a big shot and I received standing 8 count. I had nothing left after that and was duly stopped. To say I was gutted would be an understatement! I felt worthless....I'd never been stopped before and I actually shed a tear once I got home! I felt ashamed and I didn't box again for about 4 years. But I couldn't go out like that and went back, had 5 more fights winning 4 and made the 2003 novice ABA final! 😁 I met Ricky once, just before he fought Paq! Had my photo taken with him. Rise en fall of the britts legend😟
I heard the phrase "3 and a half years" 11 times.
You can't turn a brawler into a boxer and vice versa. Trying to change his style cost him unfortunately
It coincides with Hatton's fight with Joe Castillo, he knocked Castillo with the same shot.
Dempsey allowed the interview to go on for to long. Ricky was clearly in distress and on the verge of tears and he just kept on asking him questions ffs.
That there is not Ricky at his best .in his prime he was beating everyone and anyone . One of the best lw to have come out of Britain ever. There's only one Ricky Hatton
Now he knows what Jose Luiz Castillo felt.
Dnt feel bad mate you were a great British fighter
ricky beaten by father time, that father time is a mother fucking beast.
have a vacation here in the philippines ricky, maywaether already did.
This was a freak loss imo. A freak Body shot can take the best down you can be dominating a fight and bam liver shot goodnight. Overall he was doing OK except for a little rust. A tune up fight with a journeyman would have been best fight
What a real champion. Absolutely respect Ricky
Goosebumps every time 19:32
Same
I respect hatton after this fight..a great fighter, just wanna give his fans a good fight
The Hitman become a victim....
Proud to be Mancunian
Problem with these fighters who try to make a comeback is they left at the top and still think they are up there when they come back.
You need to build your way up again. If only Hatton had of done that rather than immediately fight someone in the top 5. Would of been a brilliant comeback
name of song 15 mins in
He fought hard howerver his time is over..........................
His opponents throughout his career must of been mediocre. He was beat so easily by Manny and Floyd. Then this body shot.
Hilarious to hear the sky commentator twice say senchenko isn't a puncher he had a 64% ko rate. Hatton was 68%
Not the most scientific boxer but no one can say he's a bad fighter he was undefeated for long enough an every boxer tells you time beats us all an I can't recall many boxers who went the distance like a Ricky thx fer the memories
Undefeated against cab drivers though lol
+El Niño Never heard of Kostya Tyzu??....damn u casuals!
you could see from about round 6 that he was thinking fuck this i dont want this anymore
Its now 2020 stil waiting for rematch pacquiao and hatton lol
The Black Skellington has been about
skeleton
