  • After a three year absence from boxing, Ricky speaks candidly about the high and low points of his career in this one hour special. Much has been written about Hatton's breakdown, alcoholism and depression but 'Road to Redemption' presents an inside look and hears from the man himself about his past dark days and his motivation for returning to boxing.
    With exclusive access to Ricky's fight camp, family and team the show follows Ricky on his emotional, physical and personal journey, as he strives to make Manchester, boxing and Britain proud again.

      He will never be defined for his losses, but for the many thousands that followed him around the world, who loved him for what he represented. I do hope that he finds peace in the knowledge that those very followers weren’t just fans because he was winning boxing matches, but because of what he stood for and where he was from. All the best Rik 👍

    • @javiermigoya
      @javiermigoya Před 8 lety +8

      +Andy Horn I agree 100% and in reality he lost to I true warrior in Manny Pacquiao who laid it on the line like a true man just like Ricky did like true warriors do and ended up KOd just like he did against Marquez, Floyd Mayweather jr on the other hand, he's just a guy that learned early on in boxing that he was fast and had quick reflexes but didn't have powerful punch to complete his arsenal, so he climbed several weight divisions and used tiring tactics against his opponents by running and holding and would engage minimally just enough to steal rounds, Floyd Mayweather jr back in the day when Ricky and Manny fought, would of suffered the same fate Ricky did but at least Ricky went out on his shield like a real man, Floyd would of ran and tried to hold Manny but back then Manny boxed less he would just go at you like a wrecking ball and he would of destroyed Mayweather back then easily while trying to run from him, the only one that has ever been effective against Pacquiao is a pure counter puncher in Manuel Marquez, the type of fighter Ricky Hatton was is the type of fighter that gives you those special fight moments like Duran, Ward and Gatti, you know you've come to see a fight, a Gladiator Sport represented by true Gladiators

    Unfortunately the same drive we have to achieve things makes it hard for us when we feel we failed. Hopefully Hatton as he grows older will come to realise that his real success will be his family and what he has provided for them.

    Ricky was a beast (still is) and it just goes ti show how humbling of a sport boxing is. I used to be able to beat anyone’s ass that stood before me, til I started boxing that is.. and then I realized that no matter what someone looks like, how they act, or even how little training they had, anyone can get it cause there’s always someone badder.

    Say what you want about Hatton but he was ONE of the BEST in his division and only lost to the two GREATEST BOXERS OF ALL TIME. NO ONE will ever match the following this man got when he traveled away from home turf.

      He certainly didn't box a "full twelve" against Mayweather and Pacquiao.
      And "One of the best fighters I have ever seen", you say. Then you are clearly are very new to boxing.
      Just calm down, fanboy...big breaths.
