- I went for a ride on a Lime Scooter across the Salford and Manchester (UK) zone to see how good their electric scooter rentals actually are!

I was going to Aldi on my electric scooter then after it died and I had to ride it manual and it took life out of me
Thanks for the review. The council have done well in giving them return points like this, go to any central station in Berlin and you'll just see these dropped next to the entrances so people have to go around them, because basically anywhere on the pavement is allowed to return to.
A very small amount of pavement riding that I don't think were designated shared but I think we'll have to let that slide 😄

You should have put a GPS speedometer on the bike to see how fast it was going. It looked ridiculously slow compared to my ebike. Probably around 12mph.
Yes I could've used my phone to check speed as it did feel 'jogging' pace. Private E-scooters are a no brainer in terms of spec and unrestricted travel vs Lime but they're officially illegal which is the sticking point for most people
Thanks for the review. Do you know who charges the scooters are what happens if a user just leaves a scooter wherever they want after they have finished using it?
Pleasure! I understand that Lime pay people who have the correct charging kit to go around and fill up scooters. If you leave a Lime scooter in the wrong place, your account will be charged/fined for the sin!

Until they open this up to Manchester (especially the city) this trial is a total waste of time.

I just want to know what insurance company they use, if any? As i was told no insurance company will cover any scooters?hmmmm
This is why i will continue to use my own scooter.
The Lime scooters are run in association with the local council so I assume they are insured although not sure who with. Private scooters still officially illegal to ride in public 😫
