  • This video shows you how to grow Dianthus plant from cutting two different ways. Taking Dianthus cuttings is one of the easiest ways to propagate Dianthus and grow more plants. The more the blooms the better.
    When it comes to Dianthus propagation, it's best to take cuttings from non-flowering shoots. Meaning, if you see a flower bud, do not take the cutting from that stem. If you do not see a flower bud and only see leaves, you can take a cutting from that stem. You can take a cutting from a flowering shoot. If you do, cut the flower bud off and know it might be a slower to grow.
    There are two ways Dianthus propagation by cuttings can be done and that's using potting mix and water propagation. Both ways work. I saw roots in 13 days. After learning how to grow Dianthus plant from cutting, you'll be able to grow a lot more Dianthus plants faster than growing by seed. It's also a good way to overwinter Dianthus too.
    Dianthus is commonly known as Sweet William.

    can you do the layering methond with sweet william by putting a stem on soil and a rock to hold it down so it regrows from the stem up? love the video

      Thank you. And yes that could work. I have a short video showing new shoots growing from the nodes, but that part of the plant wasn't directly on the soil so no roots, but I'm pretty sure there were a few stems on the soil with shallow roots.

    How much time should we water it

    • @vesgardens
      @vesgardens  Před 3 měsíci

      Once or twice a week or when the soil is dry. Ultimately depends on your environment.

    Should i keep it in direct sunlight

      This plant does need full sun.

      Direct sunlight once it's an established plant. When propagating DONT put in direct sunlight until you have a plant. It will not make it.

    If you've never done that before, put that in the title of the video. Come on

      No. Whether I've done it before or not, the process is still the same.
