  • Apologies for such a long video but a lot of effort went into it and the goal is to make it simpler for the next person trying to battle these codes.
    Idea is to provide you with enough knowledge to decide for which diagnostic route are you gonna take depending on kind of symptoms you are facing. I may make another video addressing various symptoms and tests accordingly.

    Thank you so much for making such a great video explaining the whole fuel system.

    Thank you. I have 0087 in a Discovery 3 TDV6 2.7 with 275k kms. Seems a very common problem affecting most cars with this engine eventually. Most often it is solved by replacing the HPFP as the resultant limp mode is very frustrating. I have changed the FF in mine and it faults very occassionally still. You have to expect at some point the HPFP will need replacement.

      If i were you, i'd (a) recalibrate VCV, PCV, Injectors first with a scan tool. If it doesn't solve the problem (b) check for leaking injectors via leakback test and only after that go for HPFP replacement.

      @@RZJugaarI checked with the manufacturer of a really good Discovery scan tool (IIDTool) and they said there’s no way to calibrate PCV on Discovery. I assume from your comments it’s possible on the Territory? Odd there’s no equivalent on Discovery.

      @BenVallack I'm surprised to learn the replacement pump calibration is not available on Discovery. Yes i calibrated it for territory. I checked the disco manual and it does not mention recalibrating HPFP after replacement. I also checked my Autel tool and it does not show any calibration option under discovery 2.7l engines... I'm still suspicious though as the engine management is same across both ford and LR..

      I ended up changing to a second hand pump off a car with 89k miles on the clock - really cheap compared to a new one from Land Rover! Took me a good day to fit.

      @@BenVallacksCars good to know that you have issue resolved.. I have 3 territories in my family and I keep a spare HPFP handy.. you never know .

    Amazing thanks so much for this! I have repeated P0087 codes at low load/revs. My low pressure pump flow seems very low - 280ml in 1 minute. Do you know what kind of flow rates would be within range from the low pressure pump? Previous owner had HP pump replaced last year so I’m wondering if it failed due to this poor pressure/flow on the low pressure side. Pressure tested on the low pressure side is about 4psi at idle.

      This is on a Discovery 3 by the way

    • @RZJugaar
      @RZJugaar  Před 10 měsíci

      For territory, the volume spec is 277ml in 10 seconds. Low side fuel pressure 7psi.
      For discovery, I can't confirm the volume but lift pump pressure spec is same, 7psi
      If you get 0087 only during hard acceleration then for sure it's the LPFP

    • @BenVallack
      @BenVallack Před 10 měsíci

      @@RZJugaar thanks - I got 0087 first at hard acceleration once a few hundred miles ago, but recently even at low acceleration as well. To the point we had to get recovered as it was doing it every 10 minutes of driving and even keeping below 2k RPM.

      @@BenVallack Your fuel flow from fuel sender is very low so i'd say its the fuel pump. The other reasons can be a blocked Fuel Filter. Very low chance that it's leaky injectors or High pressure fuel pump.
      I'd suggest get an external (in-line) fuel sender installed to confirm that it's the fuel sender issue before biting the bullet.

      @@RZJugaar ok I tried a new filter - no difference at all. So I dropped the tank and tried to measure the flow without the filter, just straight out of the outlet hose from the tank. 750ml in 20 seconds. Is that what you’d expect without the filter? I might have just confused myself with this test.

      Never heard of it. That would be the first time.. which cooler? The one in v-section or the one under the driver seat floor?

    Hi sir
    I have a ford transit 2.0 diesel with a foult fuelpressure to low
    I replaced fuel filter
    High pressure pump
    Common rail with both sensors
    Inejctor checked no foults
    What can be? The car does not start and I cannot make a return leak test, I took out injector mount it outside and try to start no spray from the injector, was it because of no pressure on injector or injector clogged? Please help any advice will help
    Nice video

      Hi. Are you getting any fuel out of the filter? Your fuel sender working? Are you getting fuel up to the injectors? Did you check your fuel pressure regulator?

      @@RZJugaar yes fuel is coming to filter after filter to the hpfp after to the common rail after to injector from injectors i can see on return line fuel is out so idk if is clogged or not enough pressure...
