This is probably one of the best overall reviews I've seen of Starfield. I'm absolutely smitten with the game, and I believe this is the most accurate and honest vids I've seen online.
I'm still shocked us trolls in your twitch chat convinced you to take the hero worship trait, you don't normally fall for it. You had me crying with laughter most of the way through.... genuinely amazing video dude.... much love!

Very interesting to hear from one of the rare gamers who had not yet formed an opinion on Bethesda. Glad youre liking it!

I think the biggest reason you enjoy this game as much as you do is that it's a welcomed temporary content injection between Star Citizen monotony while consciously or subconsciously knowing you have the luxury of escaping to the freedom of SC whenever you want.

For a multiplayer only player, you roleplay a lot better than most Bethesda fans. I feel like people who don't like this game simply don't know how to roleplay properly? Like you said, as long as you stay centered in your character, only do what your character would do then the game really becomes a much much better experience. Crazy that it needs to be said that roleplaying in an RPG is essential lol

Ay thanks Scout! Yeah, even though i prefer Multiplayer games, i still rate my immersion! So playing to my characters 'character' still helps sorta guide my decisions whether its multiplayer or singleplayer. I think figuring out who you want to BE in Starfield definitely improves the experience first.

As an Elite Dangerous player,...... Starfield isnt really a good space game

    • @toecutter9372
      @toecutter9372 Před 11 měsíci +3

Comparing Starfield to Elite isn’t really a fair comparison. I have 3k+ hours in ED, and I don’t know if I’d call Elite a good space game even. Maybe a good exploration game, but it’s not a good “space game”

SF feels like a 2005 game that would have 5/10 thats recieved a HD remaster set to release for 2013, but got delayed until 2023... as such space combat... suks, it feels more like a menu screen/ level select with extra steps or a loading screen mini game, space feels tacked on and functions more like a menu /level select with extra steps then a proper space game or space exploration game.
ground side doesnt feel like ur exploring planets, feels like the classic experience of pick ur level type game, were most levels are just padding, filler with nothing to do in a bad way..., unlike SC were i might land, fly around enjoying the scenery, doing some stunt flying etc and not care about this factor and actually enjoy the desolation or lack of enemies, wildlife and its immersive effect and waste hours just exploring even though i already know outside a few hidden POI's , there aint anything to find or do, except enjoy the view (or random encounters with players /player made events)... SF makes me go "not again, back to the RNG level select screen... this suks" also because most places dont actually look very good, its a rare day u go "that looks nice" were SC its like most the time... u get numb to how good it looks even in alpha and it just makes SF feel like you fell of a cliff, the inability to fly ur ship planet side etc makes the whole level select RNG experience even worse.
basically fast travel is good because it allows u to skip a bunch of loading screens and mental pain, since the core game experience is vomit.
AI is retarded and after becoming numb to broken SC AI... one would think almost anything would be a breath of fresh air, but SF AI is that bad... it just feels like your dealing with another type of broken SC AI... that is less deadly... atleast in SC they will drop you, if u stand still long enough, so u got to keep moving to avoid the server catching up... SF u dont really need to care long as u got meds and can survive atleast 1 hit... and i played 100 hours on max difficulty first run = enemies = way to easy and dumb...its true though they do become a bit spongy, but as they are just spongy stormtroopers... in 90% of cases u dont need any tactics and when their are multiples = i use the exact same tactics i do against broken SC AI... so it ends up feeling like SC with downgraded graphics at that point and overal a more worse experience due to fact the space element is purely a menu screen...
ur ship feels like a teleporting ground base that is in the shape of a ship, but fails to actually function anymore then a teleporting ground base.
even the shipbuilder... (i should say base builder) is poorly implemented, bad UI, controls, ship restrictions that dont make any sense that actually make the whole thing less enjoyable, less rewarding and generally annoying... plus customization feels limited once you spend enough time with it... ur options are rather restricted = why most folks just use mods as the vanilla experience just looks good upfront, but suks once u get knee deep in it... to find its as deep as a puddle likewise as the tacked on space menu simulator... and whole experience in general.
main mission = forced myself to get to the point i got my first super power... never used my supper power after that... feels stupid...
side missions, started a few of the supposed good ones... got bored... didnt finish...
did some random missions... most didnt feel rewarding or worthwhile.
dialogue options lack weight... simply put feels like it makes no diference most the time... and often are broken, eg say things which need you to have selected or done something... u didnt do or select... many dialogue options make no sense, its normal for dialogue u would expect to exist... to not to exist, so dont bother expecting common sense... because the outcome of dialogue makes no real impact on ur experience other then to waste ur time in most cases and rewards generally suk... for example the mantis = total let down... should have been a epic mission with epic rewards, but nope it ends up being so stupid and rewards are trash... feels like the devs just gave a middle finger to the player... by sub-verting ones expectations in true disney fashion.
after 100 hours i couldnt even be bothered finishing the main mission, side missions or even doing actual base building (yea not shipbuilding) as zero incentives exist within such a overall badly packaged experience... that only works if your itch for something to play has reached the degree u can ignore the fact this is not a very good game... so im just going to wait for mods at this point, the vanilla experience is cancer and makes SC bug filled 30k spam fest feel refreshing instead...
seriously what is wrong with AAA these days... just FFF spam costing 100's of millions to make... its why i play mostly old school games now... nothing wrong with dates graphics when a game is good... but dated graphics and a sub-standard experience all round aint a good combination for SF...
and steam reviews indicate SF is a mostly negative game in review (wait for it)... if u look at game hours on review and post review... the number of positive reviews that genuinely indicate they like the game (keep playing it, clear the main mission, reach level cap, get their C class ship, do a second run through etc) and want to play the game based on hours they put in each week are = the very very few... vast majority of positive reviews often have no extra hours despite having not the time to even properly play the game... even those with extra hours, they stagnate at to low levels again = same result... most positive reviews may claim the game is good... but when it comes to showing it with hours played and what they prefer to do with their free time = the exact opposite.
problem is for many they want it to be good and it also takes far to long to get into the meat of the game... which is were most give up because its not a good experience... yet for some reason will drop the game and give it a positive review at this point anyways, almost if they are trying to justify why they put 50 hours into playing trash.

It is truly a disappointment of a decade. Calling it skyrim in space is right on point. And after seeing that they somehow managed to molester F4 UI, which was not that bad...

    U wot?
How can anyone "not mind" this many, constant loading screens, cutscenes and menu action? It's like playing Windows OS.
Waiting for SC really did fry your brain it seems.

Because I've been playing Star Citizen for years and guess what? Spending 25% of my playtime sitting in a quantum jump doing absolutely nothing is shit, too.
