    Nice yotarip. there is sooooo many questions about the wiring for this swap. it seems like the purpose is to keep everyone in the dark. There is no realy nice clear video ans explaination of the 1uzfe wiring for the swap. I think as soon i do it i will spread it all over the net. Yotarip the info you shared for the key is so good. nice move. nice work.

    Excellent work man. Your stuff on toytaminis.com gave me the confidence to pursue this path with my 89 pickup that threw the timing chain. I have since acquired a complete 99 GS400 and will be reviewing your efforts again and again while the build goes down.

      @@bigtinasoup2927 You should be correct but I really suggest you buy the actual Toyota electrical diagram manual for your year make and model. I buy them used on eBay for about $40. They are worth their weight in gold. The manuals are printed in color also which really helps when tracing the wires. The wire colors in the drawing match the actual harness.

    Great video man! 👌🏼👌🏼 For the manual swap did you need to do anything to the harness for the automatic transmission sensors? I’m planning on doing a manual swap on my 2000 gs400 and I don’t know if I need to modify my harness at all.

    • @yotarip
      @yotarip  Před 5 lety +1

      Rolling With Ruckus I usually just coil that section up and zip tie it to the back of the motor. Sometimes I just cut off the extra transmission wires and tape it up. Never had a problem with hacking off the wires. We actually cut the transmission wires on this truck. If you look at the lower left side of this vid at the 58 second mark, you will see a bag containing a small black box with wires connected. That is a automatic transmission simulator for Toyota’s. I meant to talk about it in the vid. It tricks the ecu into thinking the auto is still attached. Without it, the ecu will throw a code and run the motor in limp mode. In limp mode the ecu cuts the power output by 50 hp/ 50 torque and it will not allow the throttle to fully open at WOT. The simulator is only $105 and can be bought on Facebook at facebook.com/groups/all4swap/.
      The guy is in Russia but he is legit and I have spent quite a few dollars with him.

      Hi. The throttle will not operate without 12 volts ( 15 amp fused) going to ecu connector E / terminal 7 ( violet/yellow wire).
      The motor will start and immediately stall if 12 volts are not seen at terminal 4 on the mass airflow sensor and 12 volts at terminal 2 on the O2 sensors.

      I get a solid 25 mpg with my non vvti 1uz swap. It also has 5 w58 from a 84 celica and 3.72 rear end. I just installed a 3.07 rear but haven't driven it much since installed. That gear has made 5 gear unnecessary. I can crusie at 70 mph at around 2400 rpm in 5th gear. If you can get a vvti motor for a few hundred more, it's well worth it. Power delivery is so much better and 50 hp advantage makes a huge difference.

    • @yotarip
      @yotarip  Před 6 lety +1

      This truck is using the sc400 manifolds but the LS400 oilpan. The LS400 oilpan made it necessary to push the engine far forward. We recommend the sc400 oilpan to place the engine closer to the firewall for better weight distribution and better radiator clearance.

    Hey man there's a guy here in Tirau New Zealand that wants to charge me 2k to wire up my 88 rwd Hilux to the 1uz vvti he reckons that you need to do something to the loom to stop the traction control from making the engine gutless when you've done a automatic to manual conversion I see you you have a manual box on this one 1uz project just wondering if you have any advice for me thanks

    • @yotarip
      @yotarip  Před 5 lety

      Ray Bent Hello Ray. The traction control is of no concern at all. The motor will run perfectly without wiring up the traction control. However, if you are not running the automatic transmission, you will need a transmission emulator. Without the emulator, the computer will sense a transmission fault and reduce power by 50 horsepower. This guy of Facebook sells the emulator and it works great. I’ve used it on three swaps so far.
