    Don't forget to mention that alot of these ECU are 20+ years old now and some suffer from leaking capacitors. Causing all sorts of problems. Seen a few personally and the 1uz I used in my rig suffered from this. This is the reason I decided to bin mine and upgrade to a link. But any excuse was a good one hahaha.

    We've done a few 1UZ swaps here in the U.S. Two with 1st gen motors, and 1 with a 2nd gen non-VVTi engine. The first gen swaps were simple enough, because the computers don't care about about the missing automatic and the check engine light stays off. The 2nd gen swap is a bit annoying though. The engine runs great, but the check engine light is permanently on. We wired up the OBD-2 port, and there's always ~7 codes or so for the missing automatic. It's not the end of the world since the engine runs well, but it would be nice to have a check engine light that lights up when there's actually a problem with the motor.
    Not sure if you have any idea about that? From what I understand, the U.S.-spec 2nd Gen OBD2 1UZ ECUs tend to be very picky about the automatic being there or not.

      @CartuneNZ  Před 4 lety +1

      Absolutely. Different ecus require different things to be done to eliminate codes. I've just edited a video on physical egr removal however I used a non egr jdm ecu on that job to prevent codes. Its not released yet but can be found in the 425 ls400 playlist. Cheers Kelvin

      The EGR looks to a thermistor to trick the egr code to go away wire it high resistance when egr vsv has no power (ground switched) but with the ecu egr vsv wired to a relay run a lower resistor simulating a hot thermister to the otherside of the relay that is all because in closed loop the ecu tunes from the O² sensors then you can block off the egr flow completely and keep egr codes clear, for removing cats the best thing to do is run the secondary O² sensors through sparkplug defoulers extended out of the direct exhaust stream but you can also use a high resistance diode tap the left and right primary O² sensors each with a diode then coil and resistor bridge network to drop the oxygen readings to give the car a good cat efficiency reading then those codes will go away also

    Hi again, wondering what ecu you'd recommend for a stock 1uz vvti with a 5 speed 3l d4d manual gearbox. The swap was done on my van but at the time i was not informed on what exactly was done to make everything run (2016-2017). Of all my issues my main worry was that there is no obd port where i could have access to read error codes. Looked down at the exhaust and found out that there were no oxygen sensors connected as well. The car runs but i feel it's really low on power besides the bad ratio of the van i put it in. Have never dynoed it. It starts after 1 kick and doesn't do anything erratic.
    So my questions include
    Standalone ECU you recommend to prepare for forced induction.
    How i could read codes on the ecu because i believe there are issues with power.
    Best ratio you'd recommend as my ratio is too short (4.55) and i was thinking of a 3.89 ratio.
    Thanks again.

      Is there a simple way to do that?
      It is getting fuel to the injectors, I can smell it when cranking the engine.
      I changed the fuel pump as it was ceased. The only way I can make the fuel pump work atm is to bridge the b+ and fp terminals.
      The igniters only work by pulling the circuit up using a test light, by doing so as the engine is cranking I can get spark. It's like it isn't sending any feedback back to the ecu. Possibly crank sensors?
