Yes totally agree, the longer they leave it the more private rubbish un safe scooters will be on the road. They have a good idea of what the regulations should be now they should implement them now with a registration system where scooters need to conform to build wise certified by the manufacturer. Regulations can always be tweaked afterwards same as cars needing seat belts, air bags etc etc

Without comparing motor output details any comparison is meaninless for me as I live in a hilly area, all trips from home involve a 300ft climb on the return. My order of priorities when chosing are 1. Torque; 2. level of waterproof; 3, is range sufficient. In the last 3 years almost all of my travel has been via ebike plus occasional rental scooters, the rental ones have nowhere near sufficient torque to be of any practical use unless you live on the flat, any gradient and they grind to a stop as the motor stalls. The wattage of the motor is of zero consequence except on the flat, the important figure is torque

Multi-modal transport is the solution to replacing the car for most peoples commutes. Having special fast direct bus routes between population hubs, these busses maybe.electric, running on dedicated busways where possible and towing bicycle/scooter trailers. This gives people the ability to travel long distances, have point to point journeys and journey times as quick as driving a car in low congestion conditions.
Unfortunately this requires a paradigm shift in transport and mobility thinking and future planning from local authorities and councils, can you see the problem? Here in Cambridge they’ve flat rejected my suggestion on MMT in favour of bus routes and diesel busses which crawl along in heavy traffic, stopping frequently from where you don’t live to where you don’t work or want to go, hello, still not working guys.

Pure seem to have improved the design immensely with where the frame folds on the Taur looks vulnerable to failure, the handlebars don't fold seems silly when the footplates do look at Taurs site for folded dimensions about three times the width of the Advance and the lighting and indecators design is brilliant and the price difference is massive and parts should be easy to obtain.

I fully agree and want TFL to reverse the ban. The ban is in place because of battery safety/certification that is almost non-existent with the deluge of cheap Chinese e-scooters that have been imported into the UK. @@dodgydart Believe me mate, I always think outside the box 📩 and combiner these ulterior motives. Even that e-scooter 'fire' at the Acton tube station that made the news last year looked contrived and perfectly filmed. The pace of adoption of private e-scooters was too fast for the ruling elite without getting their share. Also mass e-scooter adoption in future would lead to less cars, less public transport fares, less parking fees going to local authorities. We're all waiting for that Transport Bill to go through Parliament, then e-scooters will finally be legalised here in the UK 👌. Let's hope there's no more serious fatalities that hit the news. From what I know, the two needy considerations being ironed out before legalisation is battery certification (which also affects e-bikes and e-mopeds too) and minimum wheel size (12 inches).

Most of us learned to ride bicycles as kids. And now that electric bikes are a thing even the exercise-averse can use them. Scooters certainly have their place with the young and 'keen to look hip' (hopefully it is not just a fashion fad and scooters do not all end up in landfill in 5 years) but I'll stick with the cardiovascular exercise my pedal-operated bikes offer me. Re the UK economy debacle and the exchange rate... that's (even a brief dip into) Libertarian economics for you 😀

One of fossil fuel vehicle biggest crimes is MOT fraud this happens every single year .
And 250 watt motor is just simply ridiculous I would rather have a much higher motor with mph limiter and you shouldn't need a license for theses scooters or ebikes insurance yes just in case you do damage to other vehicles that would probably mean age limit to ride else your probably have children doing stupid things .

People tend to do 'sneaky' rides on quieter residential roads away from main roads but I even see people riding them on main roads.
