  • Hey, guys! In this video, I go over the 2011 GM hydroboost I swapped in as part of this front-end overhaul on my truck. For this to work properly, it's critical that you use the GM Genuine hydroboost with the part number 1781036. The link to it on Rock Auto is below.

    I had no idea that this was an available upgrade😮.
    Thanks for the information and video.

      Heck yeah, man! It's WAY better than the one that comes standard on these trucks. The pedal is MUCH firmer!

    Definitely on my to do list. Steering box first then this. Nice use of the CAD for describing how that clip works.

      Heck yeah, man! These upgrades have made my truck so much better to drive - especially this one. You won't regret it. Just be sure you get the GM Genuine part, as the knock-off ones likely won't last or have as good of a pedal feel. The Rock Auto link is in the description.
      Thank you! I knew that I would never be able to adequately describe that without showing it, so I figured CAD would be the easiest way to get it done.
      Thank you for watching and for commenting! Please let me know if you have any questions about this install or anything else I've done to my truck.

    I’ve been subscribed but CZcams hasn’t updated me to your new videos. Now I’ll have to catch up. I’m driving an 03 regular cab with 6 speed manual. It’s my 3rd duramax and seems like a good truck so far.

      Thank you for subscribing! CZcams has a bad habit about doing that. To be sure you'll get notifications, make sure you click the bell icon and set it to "All".
      However, I haven't uploaded in a while because I haven't really done anything to my truck. I am working on something right now that could be really neat, though. If it turns into something cool, I'll be sure to post a video about it!
      That's cool that you've had a few Duramaxes! I hope this one works out well for you.
      Thank you for watching, commenting, and subscribing! I really appreciate it. Please let me know if you have any additional questions about this or anything else I've done to my truck.

    I am having issues with with my steering. And watching your videos have been very helpful. Thanks for creating useful content. I am still trying to figure it out. It is stiff when turns. Gets smoother with speed. Thinking it’s the pump.

      That sounds about right! Check out my video on the PSC high output power steering pump I installed. That may be what you need.
      You're welcome! I'm glad these videos have been helpful. Comments like this are exactly why I made these videos.
      Please let me know if you have any questions about what all I've done to my truck, or if you have any specific installation questions.

    I noticed lateral movement of the brake arm when you engaged the brakes. Theres a plastic bushing on the same shaft that the brake arm mounts.

    Have you had a chance to try it while towing? If so, how did it make a difference.

    Thank you for the detailed video. Very nice. I am performing the hydroboost switchout currently. I do have an unrelated question about your truck. I see you have installed large towing mirrors. Are they totally manual ? I would like a set of the larger towing mirrors, but I would like them to be operated by my stock switch to swing them inward as well as turn signal compatibility. Thank you for any information.

    • @JayRussellDuramax
      @JayRussellDuramax  Před 10 měsíci

      You're welcome! I'm glad the video was helpful for you. I hope everything goes well during the upgrade process! The pedal feel is FAR better with the new unit.
      As far as the mirrors, the ones I have in this video are the original ones, and they don't have power fold or extend, nor do they have turn signals. However, I recently bought a new pair from eBay that's based off of the later model mirrors, and they do have turn signals, but they have a separate small connector for them that I have to wire up manually. My truck is a 2002, and I'm not aware of power fold and/or power extend options for the mirrors.
      Thank you for watching and for commenting! Please let me know if you have any additional questions about my truck and what I've done to it.

    Did you end up having to enlarge the hole on the plunger rod and if so what size drill bit did you use?
    Thanks for the the video!!!

    I 2006 gmc 3590 sierra. Purchased 2011 hydrobooster installed without issues. Upon install truck will not come out of park. Replacement stop/brake switch and still can't get out of park. If you push on switch with screw driver will shift out of park. What are mydrill out? Drill out? Troubleshooting? Thk u sir.

    • @JayRussellDuramax
      @JayRussellDuramax  Před rokem +1

      Hey! I'm sorry you're having an issue. The pin that connects the hydroboost pushrod to the brake pedal might be too tight in the bore of the pushrod. My understanding is that you'll need to slightly enlarge the hole in the hydroboost pushrod so that the pin has a nice slip fit. Unfortunately, that may require you to remove the hydroboost again...
