#WCW #WRESTLING
Took a break from the Monday Night Wars, but he's still giving us content. This is the best mufuggin wrestling channel on CZcams!
I guess Wrestling Bios got so affected by the first two Russo shows that he needs another breather. 🤣
@@captainsworld1986 I mean if I was Wrestling Bios I would be burnt out too after 2 Russo WCW shows and taking the time to run them down in a video. Gotta recharge those batteries for the rest of the war. Gonna be a wild ride. At least we will get a lot of fun memes down the line
Thank you for not cursing
The man of the people
@@pleaseshutup7053what are you, 🤣5? Your comments are always the worst.
Sting is the Ace of WCW. He carried the company big time in the 90s on their PPVs and on Nitro.
He was most over and wcw did their best business when he didn’t talk or wrestle 😂
@@pleaseshutup7053Tbf, highest Buy rate ever was when he came back at StarrCade ‘97
@@pleaseshutup7053Doesn't it show how great he was that he didn't have to talk or have a match, and still do big numbers for the company?
Anyone watch the Who Killed WCW documentary? Bischoff makes so many different excuses about the match with Sting and Hogan at Starcade you just know he's lying. Then proceeds to wrap it up by saying "Sting was so sure that me and Hulk were gonna pull the rug out from underneath him at the last moment that he pretty much manifested it". He's dodged accountability for 30 plus years and needs to pull Hogans d out of his mouth
@@Bl913 Agreed. He allowed Hogan to bungle that main event and is still lying for him to this day…
RIP Kevin Sullivan
The _Superbrawl_ monkey can can finally rest easily knowing his killer is now dead... 🐒
I've never seen Starrcade '88 but to me, it sounds awesome on paper.
One of my favorite WCW PPVs is SuperBrawl VIII. Booker T having good back to back matches with Rick Martel and Saturn respectively, Jericho vs. Juvi, DDP vs. Benoit, Scott Steiner turning heel, joining the nWo, and becoming the wrestler we know him as today, and even though he got destroyed by Goldberg, it was good seeing Brad Armstrong get a PPV match. And on top of that, you've got Bulldog vs. Mongo. Yeah, the match wasn't a five star classic, but it's cool seeing two Reliving The War legends collide.
Yup, plus great crowd and a much better Hogan/Sting match than the famous one. This was my all-time favorite WCW PPV and peak WCW for me.
11:02 It still shocks me that WCW convinced Madusa to leave WWF/E while she was still a champion there (even convincing her to throw WWF/E's belt in the trash in her WCW debut), only to give their women's championship to someone else and then retire the belt before she could even get it. It makes one wonder why they even hired her.
That said, I do think she looked way cooler as Madusa in WCW than she did as Alundra Blayze in WWF/E.
It does seem often their strategy is get the talent away from WWF and figure out what to do with them later (See Bret Hart).
Because with Bischoff, it was all about popping the ratings, getting people talking. And that meant stealing talent left and right. Sometimes it worked out (the Outsiders), and other times not so much (aforementioned Bret Hart).
@@KKKKKKK777js Good point. It's quite baffling how WCW seemed to have no idea of what to do with Bret Hart, despite him being insanely popular at that time.
Doesn't shock me at all. WCW paid her 4 times more to do 4 times less 🤷♂
I think it had to do with the fact that the WWE at the time had no plans to push the women's division. WCW didn't really do much either.
I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for WCW. I first got into it around ‘90-‘91 while they were still affiliated with the NWA, when they started their Light Heavyweight division I saw Jushin Thunder Liger for the first time and he blew my mind. I was also introduced to guys like Mick Foley, Brian Pillman, Steve Austin, and a whole world of “Southern Rasslin” that was alien to a yankee like me.
My grandfather was NWA to the core so we always watched that. He didn't like "fruity" Hogan😂
My grandfather was exactly the same. And he's the one who first got me into wrestling almost 40 years ago!!
I was always more of a wcw kid back then, but i did watch the then wwf then.
The Steiner Brothers vs Miracle Violence Connection was probably the main event because they were two of the best tag teams at the time
22:32 : FINALLY, over 3 years after the fact, the Big Bossman got revenge on Rude for the "YO MOMMA" jokes!!!
Great job as usual. Like the fact that you included bonus ppv's!
I like watching breakdowns like this because I've literally seen every PPV and Clash at least 3 or 4 times each (some a lot more) but they still all just kinda blend together in my head.
More honorable mentions. Slamboree 94, Spring Stampede 94's underappreciated little brother. If you're a Terry Funk fan you'll love it.
Bash at the Beach 97. Rewatched it for the first time since it aired about 5 years ago. Was very surprised at how good it was and how well it aged.
Definitely agree about Slamboree 94. Great show
Surprised you didn't mention sting/regal at GAB 96. Favorite match of the night.
Remember when James Brown showed up at Superbrawl 2000 and danced in the ring with Ernest The Cat Miller? One of the greatest moments that year.
No way? That really happened
@@pleaseshutup7053 Yes but the footage disappeared from youtube. Might be on the wwe network though.
Ohh yeah haha. Truly a cool moment for them, I remember that.
I erased that from my memory. Now I gotta erase it again 😂
I love the n64 video game misic hahahaha
Superbrawl II is my favorite wrestling show of all time, so the low placement on the list disappointed me. But that is a gripe with the voters rather than Wrestling Bios. Fantastic work as always and thank you for so much WCW coverage. It's so nice having a more retro-focused channel.
Best part of Thursday! Thank you Wrestling Bios
Wasn’t expecting these uploads during the RTW break. Best wrestling channel in YT by far. Thanks Ryan!
He mentioned that he will be uploading videos while he’s on a break from the relieving the war videos. If you’re such a fan you would have known that already and not acted surprised in your comment
are you okay buddy? cheer up@@analiysanchez9949
The Dangerous Alliance storyline was great lead to so many incredible matches on both tv and ppv. Shame it got the knees taken from under it with the Bill Watts hiring and that ending Heymans time in the company. Plus the Sting Vader Feud, Catcus Jack, Ron Simmons, the steiners. WCW really could of capitalised off the WWFs instability in the late Hulkamania era. But as they did so many times in there brief lifespan they fumbled the bag so so hard.
The crowd was into Tenta vs Bubber though.
Man, I miss when fans threw trash in the ring. To me, that is the perfect heat and it mostly happened in WCW, hardly in WWE (and no, a rubber chicken does not count).
Yeah nothing like a bunch of drunks throwing trash into a ring at people trying to entertain and put on a show. Maybe you would crack up at throwing trash at circus performers too
WCW is seriously underappreciated these days. While it is true the the late 90s and early 2000s were not good for the company but the wcw in the 80s and early to mid 90s was great and there were so many memorable segments and matches. I am definitely going to look up some of these ppvs matches. Thank you Bios.
I'd say Halloween Havoc 1996 was a pretty solid PPV.
The Watt's era WCW Pay Per Views were a mix of some of the best and some of the worst. But cudos, they did amazing stuff with a thin roster. Flair and Hogan were both up north, and Sting was great but wasn't the draw of either of them.
Great American Bash 89 was a great PPV as well, the first WCW PPV
Vader really did put everything into that back drop. Foley really did let some people go too hard on him like the rock
He didn't let the rock do that. And he thought about letting Vader injured him to sit home bc he was so sick of crappy wcw
Foley wrote in his sweat socks book that he hoped he would get so hurt he could no longer wrestle. WCW had broken him so much by that point.
If you have not already you should read the books. He tells some great stories.
I decided to check CZcams because I'd lost track of when your reliving the war break was happening. it said this video had been uploaded 34 seconds ago
Didn't know he was. A welcome and well deserved break mind.
I'd say that's a win!!
@@brittneysmall1152 worth the phone battery dropping to 5%
@@lja8187 somehow, i have watched since episode 1 and never been more than 4 episodes behind at a time
2:14
What an Awsome manaeuver from Rude
Look how close he was to Steamboat without touching him
Cheers Everyone!
It may have been up in the nosebleed seats, but I was in attendance at the Scope in Norfolk for Starcade '88 and it was AMAZING. Sadly, I tried pitching loose leaf paper airplanes in the air in the hopes that even one of them would have been caught on camera. Turns out, a bunch of folks with money to spend on closer seats got what I hoped they saw as an empty love note when it landed... Or hit them in the head... Or fell into their beer cup... Dusty/Sting vs Road Warriors match clips made the local news that night, near perfectly catching Stings leap from the top turnbuckle to land an impressive cross body block on Hawk who was leaned over the audience barrier. The roof seemed to come off the building when Tommy Young counted to 3 as Flair had Lex's shoulders on the mat and his own feet across the middle rope. What!?! The Ref didn't SEE Flair CHEAT?!? Ha ha ha ha ha, Luger Fans! Maybe next year! Well, if Lex keeps whining about having the 'Utmost Confidence' for another 12 months!.
Thank you for not posting another Thunder In Paradise re-watch. ❤
I appreciate making reliving the war may be getting tiring for you (maybe not!) - remember this - in twenty, thirty years people will still be watching those videos. It’s an asset to CZcams and wrestling history!
"I'm giving the point to these highly rated WCW PPV Events this week."
I liked the platform going from the entrance curtain to the ring that wcw had for their ppvs and clash of the champions shows
I was at Great American Bash 96. The Benoit vs Kevin Sullivan match kicked ass
Spring Stampede 94 was actually the very first WCW supercard I ever saw, albeit with German commentary.
I instantly became a fan of 'Lord' Steven Regal and Steve Austin also really caught my eye as I explored the promotion. I recall getting really excited for a program between Vader and Rick Rude, but that never materialised.
I would have Slamboree 98 on my list and probably the 97 edition too.
WCW had a lot of good stuff during the initial NWO run.
What do you "albeit German commentary"?! 🧐
Olli M and Peter Williams were a great commentary team 😂🤣
@@NoneofYabiz-rx3zi I certainly didn't mean to diss those guys. I also fondly remember Carsten Shaeffer. They were all vastly superior to the Danish commentating I later had to endure. And I did pick up some German, so it's all good.
WCW had so much talent
It does show just how good the Bill watts era was when by my count 4 of the 10 were from that 1-2 years.
Glad you threw in Halloween havoc 1997 in at the end there. Ddp vs Macho man and Eddie Guerrero vs Rey Mysterio.
Kudos for putting Slamboree 97 on your list. The buildup and the main event to that pay-per-view is probably my favorite WCW-Nwo angle
Thanks Wrestling Bios
Also GAB 96 Sting vs Lord Steven Regal is a great match, Regal gets in like 85% of the offense and the storyline going was great too. Regal threw everything at Sting but Sting keeps coming back and when he finally gets the Scorpion Death Lock on Regal the crowd POPS HUGE.
The best way to dig into the WCW library, watch Reliving the War
Late 1992 was horrible for WCW, but the first half was amazing.
"Yeah, Max Payne." 😂
Looks like they found him hanging out infront of a 7-Eleven.
I liked 2 Cold Scorpio when I was a kid. He did exciting moves and interacted with the crowd a lot.
Thanks for this video I been wanting to watch some wcw ppvs I’ll check these out
God Bless the “blackbox” back in the 80’s n 90’s 😂 we got to watch EVERYTHING
For Fall Brawl 1996, I really liked the DDP vs. Chavo Guerrero match. Page was still a mid-card heel, but he was already getting great reactions due to his Diamond Cutter finisher, especially the variation of the move he hit on Chavo.
I was blessed to attend Fall Brawl in
‘96 and’97.
Good times!!
Maxx Payne might be someone to go back and take a second look at. Some of his promos were really good
Great video
Wait a minute, wait a minute. Calling you out on saying 1992 WCW was a down year. Watts' rules and favoritism messed things up late, but it didn't really fall apart until around Halloween Havoc or so. The rest of the year had some awesome stuff.
Rest in peace Kevin Sullivan.
3:00 Even though Luger vs. Giant and Flair/Arn vs. Mongo/Greene weren't good matches by themselves, I think the storytelling in both matches kind of elevates them.
In my mind, Luger's showing in the main event set him up as a credible threat to The Giant as champion and a legitimate main event babyface. It was sort of the beginning of his year-plus run that culminated in the world title win in the summer of '97.
With the Horsemen vs. NFL'ers match, they beautifully followed up on the Benoit match from earlier in the night and re-established the Horsemen as a unit. You could tell the crowd was really into that. Unfortunately, WCW went on to book the Horsemen into a total mess by the end of the year, but everything they did at the Great American Bash was a terrific setup for the group. Real shame they dropped the ball on that.
Also, the Sting/Regal match was pretty good too - I'd put that with Benoit/Sullivan and Mysterio/Malenko as one of the highlights, even if it was a bit less fantastic than those two matches.
I remember legit fights out in the parking lot at the Joel Coliseum after Fall Brawl 1996 between people who pulled for the nWo and the 4-Horsemen lol!
It was like being at a NASCAR race back in the day when people would fight in the parking lot over a Ford or Chevy winning the race.
Finally a video that not living the war. I haven't watched a Thursday show in a minute a
The Benoit / Sullivan rematch is taking place in wrestling heaven.
Can we get more best of’s for WCW? Lately it seems like everybody has just been focusing on the negative side of WCW but they gave us a lot of great content as well. There was a reason why Vince was worried
You forget to mention the all time classic Bikini match at “Bash at the beach 92” between Medusa and Missy Hyatt!!!” 😂
It's crazy how far Stone Cold career has come from. What a gem 💎
Yay bios video can't wait for next week
Keep up the great work brother, you deserve all the praise u get
10:14 that makes sense because Bischoff says he turned Halloween Havoc to the flagship show after that.
What if WCW was still alive today?
If it was still alive today i could imagine it being kinda similar to TNA mixed with AEW a little bit
😂😂😂😂
Hogan would be champ defending against the Bootyman in their next PPV
I still think they'd have gone under eventually. They were in complete disarray and even if they got the creative and executive mess sorted out, they still wouldn't have been able to compete later on.
AEWCW
R.I.P. Kevin Sullivan (1949-2024)
So many amazing match-ups here! THere is indeed a lot of good stuff here.
The fact that piper won clean over nwo hogan was shocking to me. I couldn’t believe it tbh
Now I have some matches to look up, Thanks.
On Williams and Gordy... The Steiners were my favorite team and Scotty my favorite wrestler. The MVC was the first team that looked, to me, like they would HANDLE the Steiners. I was so scared as a 9 year old boy. And then, MVC beat them in the tournament. 😭
I was thinking this video was about the highest rated in terms of ratings or PPV rates.
Cool vid as usual, I do realize this is strictly WCW so the JCP golden era isn't included, but I still wanna mention that the original NWO run can't hold a candle to the original Four Horseman one, anyway mighty glad at least Vader's reign of terror and the late 90s cruiserweights are both featured prominently, while the #1 here is nonsense despite the excellent Flair vs. Steamboat.
Make a video of the highest rated WCW matches, and highest rated Thunder ones.
Great American bash 89 I'm shocked isnt on there
Exactly GAB 1989 with Sting/Muta, Luger/Steamboat, Wargames, Flair/Funk and post match brawl. Easily top 10
id love to see a reliving the war type show for 92-93 wcw ...hopefully one day
From an athletic and work perspective, Scorpio is crazy underrated!
"The Rock 'n Roll Express may have been slightly past their prime there..." Laughs in 2019 NWA.
At Super Brawl 2 although fans were excited to see Sting reclaim the world heavyweight championship from Lex Luger winning it with a body block off the top turnbuckle wasn't a very exciting match finish. Also like so many main events before and after that night the match was finally kicking into a higher gear and it was over
One more for the good guys
I've enjoyed all wrestling organizations over the years in some way, shape or form. It's so pointless to get extremely negative anymore, I'm just spent lol 😅
Sounds like a personal problem
I am surprised The Great American Bash 1989 wasn't in the top 10, I thought it was widely regarded as the best WCW PPV of all time. There are three or four classic matches on that show.
You forgot Bash at the Beach 94 the one where Hulk Hogan made his debut in WCW
WCW 4 Life
I Bought a Shirt from Wrestling Bios Merc back on July 29.. it said it would be here by aug 8-aug 11 and when I track the order it still hasn't moved wince July 29 still not even shipped yet?? Any one else have this problems when buying a shirt plz lmk ASAP!😮
Will there be more 1995 and 1996 Reliving the War PPV Reviews?
I'm surprised Great American Bash 1989 wasn't brought up.
Please do a WWF/WWE one
The best piper hogan rivalry was Saturday morning cartoon rock n roll wrestling 💯🤘😁
What happened to reliving the war
He taking break from that
He's on vacation. He'll be back next Thursday.
it's like no one actually watches the whole videos, he mentioned on at least a few videos that he's having a break after Halloween Havoc

"I'm sorry... I'M SORRY I DIDN'T DO IT SOONER!!" - Ryan goes heel by taking a break
Did I just see Scorpio hit a version of Twisted Bliss?
Ya. The Scorpio Splash. He invented the move.
Awesome muffugin stuff 🙌
R.I.P. Kevin Sullivan! You were too legit to quit! ❤️
Do you know the reasoning for DQ’s if moves were made off the top ropes ?
Can’t say I ever noticed them not using the top and never knew it was not allowed till after wcw was gone
I frickin love pro wrestling and I love this channel 😅
What's the criteria for ranking the events shown in this video? Is it PPV buys, overall profit, cagematch ratings? How was this determined?
940 here for the bio
RIP Kevin Sullivan. 🎉🎉😢
I always enjoyed the clash of the champions
The WCW was always a C rated soap opera while The WWF was a high quality Hollywood production.
Meatballs vs steak!
Only just watched Cactus v Vader. It was brutal and very hard hitting. The ending was nonsense though. Cactus got to his feet before Vader then drops after being tazed by Harley Race, Cactus falls tó the ground Vader gets up and is declared the winner because he beat the 10 count despite Cactus already being on his feet before Vader 😂 great match apart from the ending tho. Foley took scary bump where Vader falls backwards with the former on his back and the full weight of Vader crashes straight down onto Foley. Really stiff match but enjoyable
Liger and Mysterio wrestled in Japan.
