This time we look at the 10 worst rated WCW PPV events of all time (according to PPV event rankings over on cagematch). Many would expect the usual Russo PPVs and WCW 2000 PPVs to make it into this top 10, but we've also got the likes of Great American Bash 1991 included along with some WCW Uncensored events that were produced by Eric Bischoff.
PPVs covered include Halloween Havoc 2000, New Blood Rising, the aforementioned 1991 Great American Bash and Superbrawl 2000. - Sport
Now that you mention it, Piper really spent all his time in "WCW" returning instead of staying 😂
😂😂😂
Best comment "made his 100th return at the end of the show!" LOL
Heck he even made the WCW games
With the skin of his teeth.
All I remember is a couple months of promos, a tag match here and there, slow walks to the ring while bagpipes played, a pay per view, off a few months comes back still
Feuding with hogan bout something
Mr. 'This is how I feed my family'. He was on and off after his WM3 'Retirement' match.
GAB 2000 was peak Russo. The ppv was actually promoted with the promise of someone was turning heel.
The Nitro side of Reliving the War '99 and 2000 sounds like it's gonna be dreadful to behold. I'm both excited and horrified.
to quote a comment in a deadlock video:
"we're not ready for the most skee of woah's brudda"
Raw is already close to 20 shows ahead in the scores for the show its gonna be a blowout by time we get to 2001
@@royburk4689I wonder if Nitro will manage to get a single win in 2000
@@ZjarcalI believe so. As a diehard WWF fan at the time, they still put some stinkers out. I’m interested in seeing how much changes when Raw goes to TNN/Spike.
@@tommyfraz. Agreed. I remember 99 wwf not being as good as everyone makes it out to be and with reliving the war I feel like others are starting to see that as well. Honestly it just comes down to Russo the second he leaves wwf it picks up really good again
Paternity angles are right up there with the worst things that happen in pro wrestling
The most notable example is pretty fondly remembered. . .
Almost any PPV from WCW in 2000-2001 could be the worst one ever
Fall Brawl 200 was good, Greed 2001 was ok
1999 was abysmal. I would only tune into Raw and WWF from summer 1999 forward.
Not SlamBoree (where Arquette swerved the audience to help Jarrett win his title in the triple tier cage match). That's a pretty great show. It has to be the best show in general during the ill fated New Blood storyline.
Those dark days of WCW is so close and you are not alone in dreading when we get to it on Relieving the War in 1999 which is right now.
no, he's the only one, as he is watching both Raw and Nitro while we are watching a 20-40 minute CZcams video....
@@mohammedbakeer3034 I have to give Wrestling Bios respect when he started his reviews on The Monday Night Wars in 1995-2001.
Two shows that were missing that should have been on that list are Bash at the Beach 2000 like others have said and nWo Souled Out 1997.
Yeah Souled Out is really awkward and unwatchable
I'm surprised Souled Out wasn't on this list
From someone who's watched half of 99 WCW all i can say is get ready dark times ahead
How not to book wrestling= wcw 99
Get ready for the man called in some circles as "Shitstain."
I’m still in 97’ lol
@@thecausalgamer7916 treasure each moment of that year.
Let‘s see how many 2000s are on this list.
Most likely EVERY ONE 🤣🤣🤣
@@criminalmindsgirl2936Right!
At least half of them
12
I’m shocked Bash at the Beach 2000 wasn’t on here!
Same
I don't think it is any worse than any of the shows listed. It did have some good matches on it, but yeah, it also has "The Shoot Bro"
@@scottmcginn2169 what good match did bash at the beach 2000 have I got the VHS and I don't see any
@@dougbarrett619part2 Bokoer T v Jarrett was a good match, and the opner for the CW title, while not prime CW action was better than anything on any of the other shows.
I guess the question then is, which of the shows named do you take out in order to include BATB 2000?
@@scottmcginn2169 booker T vs Jeff was ok. And I seen better CW matches. I would remove great American bash 2000 as I was at that ppv so it holds a special place in my heart.
Dark days ahead for the WCW portion of Reliving the War. Big salute to you, knowing what you'll need to endure to create these future episodes.
I could swear that in my lifetime I've seen more footage of Piper as a 'special' referee than I have of his actual matches... and I'm a millennial, so that's saying something lol.
Same😂
Shawn Micheals too.
I actually liked the Sting/Booker T vs Road Warriors match, from Uncensored 96. I thought it was cool seeing a face wrestler and a heel wrestler work together, for the greater good.
Without seeing it I fully expect the Uncensored ppv with Darsow vs Dustin Rhodes on a moving truck match on here
You were correct. I went two for three, expecting Bash At The Beach 2000 on here. I did get GAB 1991 and Uncensored 1996 right, though.
It’s a shame this channel doesn’t have atleast 2-3 million subscribers. Best channel I watch, period.
I was JUST watching some of your other videos and was like damn I wish he was uploading today but I'm used to your old schedule of reliving the war episodes being on Thursdays. But here it is a new video on Sunday with 2k views in just 20 mins. Your channel has skyrocketed
1500 are probably mine 😂😂 his videos are so good I watch them multiple times just to make sure I didn’t miss anything lol.
Suggestion: The Worst Rated Impact/TNA PPV Events in History
I would love to see that
@@pleaseshutup7053Nobody saw them.
I've always wondered if the "New Blood Rising" PPV name was also supposed to be an inside nod at Bob Mould working for the WCW at time, playing off the Husker Du album "New Day Rising".
Anyway, one of the worst parts of Russo's time in WCW was him constantly having commentary say things like "we didn't go over that in production meetings" or "that wasn't on the format sheet". By having them say that, it makes it feel more preplanned, showing it was actually supposed to happen.😂
Cultaholic and wrestling bios dropping terrible wcw ppv videos on the same day, what a time to be alive
i gave up on Cultaholic. they doing good stuff? might have to check it out
Cultaholic couldn't draw a dime if you gave them a silver crayon
Long live WB
Only 1 truly matters though
Either way it's still "Cagematch" but yeah WB is better.
But other wrestling pages have done this as well.
Right?
Two of my most viewed channels.
😄👍
Has anyone else caught the "2000" theme?
I like that Steve Regal said he hid behind cars and only fought when the spotlight came around to him
Already looking forward to your reviews of the 99 and 2000 shows xD.
Always fun watching some old WCW content.
reminds me of grandma
@@beepboop204 I used to watch wrestling with my grandma too.
14:20. Zeus was Z Gangsta in WCW, not Z-Man. Tom Zenk was Z-Man. Also, I probably would have added Bash at the Beach 2000 on the list.
I have Tom Zenk trading cards
Bash at the Beach 2000 the arena erupted when Booker T won the WCW championship, the fans went home happy.
@@ZakynthosDiamandis And that's probably the only good thing about that show. Other than that, the show was a catastrophe.
@@jeremywilliams5141 I think the matches were overbooked, like many of the WCW shows at that time, but if you watched the PPV back it would probably still be somewhat entertaining. Not like the examples on this video that were clearly hard to sit through and "soul destroying" to watch.
@@bevholdren9360 Good luck finding a buyer for those. I have a Sick Boy card somewhere. It's worth even less than a Tom Zenk card.
There’s actually 1 hilarious spot in the uncensored 96 cage match. Hogan goes to hit Z Gangsta with a frying pan but the pan breaks off the handle as hogan winds back so he comes forward with a handle and nothing to strike against Zeus but Zeus sells it anyway and then Hogan frantically picks up the handleless pan and charges at Zeus hitting him in the head with it and it’s as funny today as it was then
there's also the moment where Savage and Hogan leave the cage and someone tells Savage he needs to go in and pin Flair
One of my favorite wrestling moments is during this cage match where Luger sells a punch that wasn’t even for him 😂
Just think of what could have been if we had gotten Deebo in that match.
Lance Storm was always just a personal favorite of mine. So it's always sad to see how shows with him on it were viewed as "The worst things WCW ever did". I particularly LOVED his run of "Canadian Rules" Matches and Title Unification.
WCW, WCW, and WWE SH*t on Lance Storm . . . He was an ACCOMPLISHED wrestler and he was passionate about it . . .
@@MOEVs.Everything Shows how much you know. WCW gave Lance Storm the biggest push of his career. First time he appeared on Nitro, he cleared the ring. Lance Storm went on a televised winning streak that saw him hold several titles at the same time. They put him on television every week. The problem was that WCW was a shambles in terms of its direction, the company didn't have a long term plan.
@@markv1274 Opinions are like assholes-- everybody's got one . . . As I SAID, WCW sh*t all over Lance Storm . . . They put the United States, Hardcore, and Cruiserweight Championships on him to keep him down . . . Not once did he get a shot at the WCW World Heavyweight Championship . . . At least a straight up shot anyway
Hogan and Flair is always funny because it was the obvious dream match all through the 80s. They finally were both together in WWF but it never happened. Then WCW would do it like 90 times or so, and while I'm sure the match drew money and all. Feels like both guys were well past their primes and/or realized they didn't need to put any effort in because WCW needed them more then they needed it
Funny you said that because I was such a WWF guy that I forgot they wrestled bunch of times in WCW. When they were both back in WWE 02, I thought to myself this would be a dream match lol
Uncensored 2000 was the last time they wrestled each other in WCW and the show did around 60,000 PPV buys, making it the 4th lowest bought WCW PPV ever.
I don't need the heating on, just a video from WrestlingBio's.
I remember that junkyard hardcore match and it was basically impossible to watch on TV back in the 90s, super dark.
I'm born and raised in Vegas and I went to every Halloween Havoc except for 2000. I've always felt so lucky that my dad, brother and cousin had to endure that while I had pneumonia haha
Anytime anyone says "WCW 2000" it has to be followed by "the worst ever"
Not with AEW around. You really Britta'd that statement.
Hey, Wrestling Bio dude in WCW New Blood Rising PPV Event you forgot the worse WCW wrestling Match, that is the infamous Judy Bagwell on a Forklift match
One redeeming (?) quality of the rightfully-maligned Doomsday Cage Match is that it saw (as far as I am aware) wrestling's first-ever mention of the Figure Eight Leglock! Bobby Heenan predicted Charlotte's finisher!
13:14 budget cuts hitting hard with the reduced Goldberg security escort. I'm surprised the power company didn't turn off the lights mid show.
I've noticed how much more confident you've been in your videos this past year. Back in the day, your delivery was kinda... No offense, bland, but this past year or so, you've shown so much personality and it's great. Love the content
Before long his confidence will become part of a heel turn.
@@CallumRSU30 That made me laugh, here's a like
@@thedarkemperor9292 Pleasure, sir!
I agree. I've watched a few older videos and you're absolutely right. He's really improved and probably the only thing I watch on CZcams tbh
Although I agree with you, and him being entertaining is now one of the reasons I love the channel, I must say, I liked his videos from day one even when his presentation was “dry” because I loved the concept of wrestling biographies and how it was made.
@Wrestling Bios, I get the attempt at humour with the PTSD comment, but as someone who suffers from it, I’m going to state it’s in poor taste.
Before the comment section eats me alive, hear me out.
My diagnosis and symptoms keep me an introvert for 75% of the time. I don’t like crowds, have trouble being around strangers and as an adult, sometimes need someone to go out with me as an anchor to safety.
Your videos and a great other content creators are my life line so to speak. Topics that interest me and give me a distraction from daily misery.
Just wanted to give you a congrats on your amazingly successful content. Just asking to be aware of what you find humorous, is sometimes another’s living hell.
Boohoo grow up
hope you're alright, take care, ptsd sucks
@@efu707 thanks for the kind words.
I do my best, but constantly losing friends to there struggles and other side effects take their toll.
One foot in front of the other. As long as you move forward.
RIP WCW
Gone but never forgotten
I remember thinking as a teenager in 2000 that Road Wild 1998 was probably the last good WCW PPV they ever did. 1999 the company changed so much I hated it.
Spring Stampede 99 is one of my favourite WCW PPV’s
From the Blitzkrieg/Juventud opener, Mysterio/Kidman cruiser title , Raven/Saturn v Malenko/Benoit for the tag titles to the four way dance of Hogan/Flair/Sting/DDP main event it’s a solid PPV & probably the last great WCW PPV
Can't say I remember Spring Stampede 99. I know 1999 did have good points as I was still tuning in. 2000 I stopped caring.
I saw Road Wild 1998 a few months ago for the first time in 25 years and man was the nostalgia washing over me. @@Bats-7
@@RichSmithson I definitely agree 1999 was very hit & miss & we all know how 2000 was 🤦♂️ although I will say that the only good nitro was in November of that year it look place in London & yes I’m being biased as I went to that show when I was 14 😆
Will have to check out Road Wild 98 now 😉 but Spring Stampede 99 it definitely worth a look 👍
Hey man! Amazing content. I’m noticing how much more your personality is starting to show with your jokes and sarcasm. Keep it up. Show more of yourself.
Basically, Hogan fumbled up when he tried to say “Yavapai” and it ended up becoming the Yapapai Indian Strap Match, and being the Hulkster, the executives just said “Roll with it.”
Bash at the Beach 99 & Uncensored 2000 I was at BOTH these shows
To be fair vampiro is massively underrated. Problem was the writing for his feud with sting. Their short lived tag team as the brothers in paint was pretty good.
He wasn't underrated.....he just wasn't good
@@Miguel-mp7uzyeah that's my thoughts on the matter
Everyone has their own opinion
Vampiro is a good wrestler, he was just in WCW in the wrong time.
@@larsongramckow7495 nah...it's not an opinion...it's facts...he sucked
Great time to watch this video considering I finished Guy Evans' WCW book last night. That book and this video really make me want to check out some 2000 WCW.
I remember as a kid being absolutely ecstatic to see Uncensored 1995...My video store finally had it....Yep..a 12 year old me was excited to see the King of the road match lol...I felt the same with the 3 cages Hogan n Savage vs Dungeon of Doom lol
Being a kid who only got WWF TV and only ordered WWF PPV...I remember seeing a preview for an early 90s PPV...seeing the ramp...the very wide glittery curtin they used...I’d get so excited seeing that and wanted to watch lol
in Canada...TBS you still had to pay for...So from 1990-96 We got 1 hour a week of WCW on TSN....The Power Hour....
ANYONE FROM ONTARIO HERE REMEMBER? I am 42 so you’d have to be around that age
Respects 👊👊
I bet 2000 is on this list in every entry lol awesome video 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lmaooo almost every one was from that period
I remember enjoying uncensored 95. That's the only ppv on this list I remember liking.
Great American Bash definitely deserves the number 1 spot. The effect that Ric Flair had on leaving WCW for the WWF around that time was off the charts.
Thank you for pointing out something I've always said to myself about the King Of The Road match. Everyone got fired for showing a match taped WAY BEFORE THE SHOW! I also think the time Dusty was let go over blading during the Road Warriors segment was taped, so???? Just don't air it!
I’m always right here for these drops!!! I love it!
It's crazy, the power of nostalgia. I've rewatched many of these...
multiple times..
recently 😅😂😢
I'm a wrestlling fan since 84-85. By the time i got to college (98-02) The one constant in our college parties that got the best reaction of everyone attended... Norman F-ing Smiley. The only wrestler to keep anywhere from 6-20 people entertained all at once. God bless Norman.
Did Mean Gene or any Nitro girls show up at these viewing parties?
Oooh...The only thing I know is that our boy WB is gonna have PAAAAAIIIINNNN during the 99-00 WCW era...
Loving the channel! Great content
I'm so Stoked for the coverage of No Limit coming into WCW. They had to have paid Master P some serious 💰
we know what time it is.... Kick or be Kicken time. talking of the Kiss Demon, he was on some TNA clip show yesterday.
I just finished watching a Sid video and I made a comment about "kick or be kicken" too 😂😂
Thank you for the pleasant surprise on a boring sunday❤ God bless you and you're work... BROTHER
just finished watching up to the year 2000 old WCW on Peacock and it is shocking how the quality kept slipping
Do they have all the wcw years on there?
@@ChristIsLord229 all ppvs, nitro and thunder
I cannot believe Road Wild 99 is not here. I've never been so bored watching a wrestling show before or since.
Basically, it sums up what I thought about WCW at their absolute worst. Most PPVs of 1991, 1995, later half of 1999 and 2000 are listed here.
I'm surprised by the lack of WCW PPVs on this list from before the Hogan era. Those Lethal Lottery shows were horrible
Alot of 2000s on here
Poor Mr Russo
HE CREATED THE ATTITUDE ERA, BRO!!!111
More quality content, kudos sir!
I’m surprised bash at the beach 2000 didn’t make the list 😭😭
At 17:40😂 nice jump onto the table there 😂
I had a Missy Hyatt trading card randomly given to me, as a kid! She seemed like bizarro Miss elizabeth, to me. 😅
Been a while since you did a straight up oldskool bio video......though I reckon you have covered most of the classic wrestlers already 😂
The Uncensored concession stand gimmick was a parody of the infamous Tupelo Concession Stand Brawl
The Halloween Havoc DNA sample match, I forgot about that. 🤣🤣
5:12 im a native from az. I laughed so hard when Hogan busted out that yavapai promo. Im not sure if thats what he said, but it sure sounded like yavapai.
I am shocked Souled Out 97 didn't make this list.
I enjoyed Bash at the Beach 96 very much. Was my favorite wcw ppv. Thanks for all the great videos and hours of entertainment.
I’m gonna be thoroughly entertained when you cover 2000 in reliving the war
Maybe when you get to the 2000 WCW PPV reviews do one normal then release an alternate audio version were you had a few :)
Imagine if Eric Bischoff and Vince Russo were that thin-skinned they went on the Internet and started cussing out Cagematch for having a different opinion.
to paraphrase OSW: if you want to be legendary, you have to be terrible right now and wait 30 years for some Smarks to make a pod-cast about it 😜
That’s why I had black box and never paid for PPV. The best events were in 98. WW3 and Starcade were dope that year.
I watched each one of these events on the wwe network and each one made Ready to Rumble seem like a Hollywood epic
I was at New blood rising live and had no idea what a part of unfortunate history it would be
Remember when WCW called Foreign Objects "international objects" because of a company-wide edict not to use the word "foreign" but rather "international" when talking about news on CNN? I suspect the "Yapapi Strap Match" was due to a similar edict. "Don't call Indigenous American Peoples "Indians." Refer to them by their tribal name when possible." But WCW didn't (or was worried that maybe they didn't) have the legal rights to refer to the Yavapai, so they made up a similar word "Yapapi." Leave it to Jimmy Hart to do that, since he was the king of writing ersatz, not-quite, similar sounding songs for WCW to use as their wrestlers' entrances.
Great video
On the topic of Cage Matches, is the Big Blue Cage better than the usual fence cage and if so, should we get it back?
The Junkyard Invitational….wow. Schiavone: “Fit Finlay didn’t just win it…he survived it!!!!!”
The Piper v Bagwell boxing match is the single worst match in WCW history.
Hilarious that rick flair still had the makeup on after he had got changed out of the drag 😂😂😂
I am absolutely shocked bash at the beach 2000 isnt on this list.
Jim digger in a martial arts match sounds awesome
What I too from the video is if there is a strap match with Hogan involved the rules don't seem to matter and the end result is Ric Flair losing even if he isn't even in the match.
Man, to think that silly 14 year old me in March 1996 was more hyped for the triple cage match at Uncensored than Bret vs HBK at Wrestlamania 12. Shows you little did I know 😢
You should do a list of the 10 best wrestling ever, across all the big companies that exist or existed at one time!
Has Wrestling Bios made a Heroes of Wrestling video?
10:15 I can hear it now on Ask Arn: Would you rather fight Giant Gonzalez in a Wrestler VS Boxer match or eat a hamburger with cheese for the rest of your life?
Arn: As you know I love cheeseburgers.
Do a what if video on wcw that survived 2001 and the monday night wars continue
It's all Glacier's fault. If he would've just debuted on time WCW would still be around. Writing would of been better. AOL woulda never pushed for a merge with Time Warner. Goldberg woulda stayed in Football, winning a superbowl in 98 instead of a scripted title. Steve Austin never would of been hurt.... all Glacier's fault.
In fairness regarding the scaffold match at the bash 91 Jim cornett said he was told by Bobby Eaton that the company wcw rented the scaffold from sent the wrong one and it was far too narrow and had a plywood deck so it was impossible to get traction
Thing is Scaffold matches by their nature aren't too watchable. You can't do much on it and final bump is likely to seriously injure the wrestler.
Lets make a routine to check on WB throughout the 99-00 season of RTW, bc after its over with Im pretty sure he's going to need a psychological evaluation.
Anything after 2000 was horrendous I was at and I believe at the time one of the first PPV events in Cincinnati Ohio WCW souled out and the reason I know it sucked my memory is pretty good on when I go to live events it’s over 20 years and I remember a house show WWF put on here in Cincinnati. I can’t remember who the main event even was but looked it it up Chris Benoit won the WCW world championship by beating Sid he left the next night lol.
Halloween Havoc was always a memorable PPV to me. The aesthetic and visuals were always super cool. Damn shame it went out with a whimper.
I have an idea for poll vids: best & worst WCW PPV logos
oh my god the hogan yapapi promos are rly gold lmao
Considering that four of the PPVs on this list were from the year 2000, I will be shocked if even one episode of Nitro from that year wins an episode of Reliving the War.
