- I was very lucky to get a wonderful cab tour and ride on some CSX locomotives. I will not release any more information than what is in the video. Please comment, rate, favorite, and subscribe!
Here is a picture of CSX MP15AC 1186

I've spent 41 years as a throttle jerker with ATSF, I enjoyed the view again.
I always strive to protect the engineer since it is a privilege to see what they see and they are taking the risk on their job and none have to let anybody up, yet they still do because they are kind enough to.
@jayfine01 The loco we started and ran was an EMD MP15AC. The unit I did the shave and a haircut in was a GE C40-8.
Cool guys
Thanks for the reply. I was looking at some old photos from the early seventies and found a old Poloroid Sx70 picture i took in 1972 of my then girlfriend on the stairs of a Mo-Pac engine at the ( long gone roundhouse and turntable )on Hall Street across from the Pic and Pull salvage yard. I might get the oppurtunity to do that one day, but right now i have my observation locations for slow trains and fast ones.Manchester between Macklind and Hampton is a good spot for not having to go far.
Thanks! Those where just old track warrants from a previous run.
I like your comment thank you fore being a respectful rail fan not trying to engineers in trouble
The sound is AMAZING!!!
That's cool. Thanks.
Lucky you.!
i uesed to operate one similar to that hauling lime stone at a rosk quarry. it was only a 10 mile rond trip but still fun
@tartopfan Awesome!
@yellownp22541 Thanks so much! Happy Thanksgiving to you too!
@yellownp22541 Thanks for the awesome comment! Although I don't work for the RR at the moment, I will be applying in the next few years. Just like you I admire this job and want nothing more than to be a part of it.
I'm hoping to have another one coming soon...
more more more i love those in cab videos
@lailasalas Thanks I'm glad you like it.
@lailasalas They aren't gensets, but they are specifically for yard service.
Nice
Cool story!
Perfect K5LA Shave And a haircut
Thank you, this has been added to our playlists...
WOW THIS IS COOL!! You are so lucky! The horn, bell, and sounds of the engines go really well even though it was dark out. 5 million stars!!!!!
It certainly would be
@nsrailfann4life91 Thanks. I agree with you all the way.
Sweet video. 5*'s and a favorite.
@tartopfan Cool.
haha Thanks.
That is coool!
@tplow95 It actually is a messed up RS5T...
great video
Cool!
LOL. But you certainly don't!
I wish I could get a tour of a train cab, it would be sooo fun!
I got to shut down 2 locomotives when I got in the cab of a northbound freight
You don't have to blow out the cylinders with every start up. Only after long term storage.
saw that shave and haircut
Great video 5*****
@ljc521 Cool thanks.
@re49991 cool.
Very nice video. You are lucky. You got to ride in the cab of a GE C40-8. I love them. Good ol' standard cabs without the new engines that purr all the time. A true GE chugs and these new GEVOs just are not fitting the bill. Awesome video.
Now that would have been a nice video.
Awsome 5/5!
@jpaufsc But that's not all I also got to hop in a CSX B36-7 & it is still surviving in the US as a Genset Switcher for NREX I believe that's right & a Conrail C40-8W
Yes, but the dispatcher has a list of road numbers versus train numbers, crew members, as well as corresponding times, etc.
I know for a fact this is at Niagara Falls NY yard. I know this yard like the back of my hand. Im always here. At the end of the video you was at the east end of the yard probably going to the Niagara junction to pick up cars at oxy, dupont or olin
WOW. It is very difficult to appreciate the idling motor. And also makes me feel I am the engineer at the throttle.
yep, over a year now
@cheswic It all depends on the person...
Thanks. Glad to bring back memories.
0:42 Best part of the video!
0:32
Thanks! Awesome story.
Epic!
CSX 7619 is a GE C40-8. LUCKY YOU! Although I have also gotten a cab ride on an old unit so I know I awesome it fells. lol, nice vid.
yeah it's too bad it doesn't happen more often.
Thanks!
Perdiddle means one light only showing. Like if a car would have only one light instead of two, someone may yell "Perdiddle". It's sort of like slug bug.
Well it's hard to give you a definite answer. It's very hard now days to get up into the cab with all the rules and regulations. The way I have gotten my opportunities to get in the cab all came from employees that I've known. I'd say your best option is to get to know some of the railroaders around there. There is never a guarantee due to the fact that getting caught letting civilians into the cab is an instant termination. You can also try contacting the railroad, but the chances are very slim
HAHAHA!!! Nice shave and a haircut!!! 5/5* * Fav!!!
Wow, you're lucky!!! Great Video!!!
Great vid. I love trains all kinds. Also good move on your part for not disclosing too much. very security minded of you! too bad our media doesn't have that mindset
Certainly is.
that's a dinosaur with the non-digital gauges
CSX MP15AC
@jpaufsc I wish you the best in your future endevours, I also hope that someday we may both obtain our dream job. have a great weekend and Happy Thanksgiving!!
hey great video enjoyed
Sweet video! About a year ago, I was able to get a ride in a GP40-2 for about a mile. Very exciting, and the crew was very friendly and generous to let me.
Awesome vid your very lucky!
@buttmanroad hahaha /the steering wheel s the tracks...
This was idling yard power. This was not on an assigned train or job. No crew called for it either. It doesn't matter anyway since I had authorization from the yardmaster.
I went from watching car safety to this...How...
yep. So are you a RR employee?
This is cool stuff! Keep up the good work!
You didn't have to watch it, but thanks for watching anyway.
1:27 Horn sounds like a messed up Leslie RS3L.
roger
Nice!
I have always wanted to experience a ride in the cab. I love trains all my life and i am in my 60s. How could i get a chance to do that in Saint Louis mo
Great video! 5/5
Your lucky you got to go and see all the controls and internal part of the locomotive. Ryan
I Got A Cab Tour Of A C40-8
hell I would have filmed us hitting a ranger at 43 mph if I could
nov 21 was my birthday
I understand MP15 units are also called GENSET and are mainly used for yard work and some local switching. Is not it?
@jpaufsc You were disturbing the peace - needlessly.
At least when I did, it was for a purpose - grade crossings.
Thanks fo the explanation.
Neverev a cold engine. Keep RPMs as low as possible without stalling the cold engine.
Same applies to automobilengines.
cool I wish I can ride that :)
@bradrnstyle U Jelly.
This was my life for 37 years!
wilber53 nice
@CSX2665 because if too much info is given out, then the crew can get fired.
It must be awesome working on these locos. I work on buses so the next step for me is light rail, but these would be so AWESOME to work on, In my opinion you have a great job which has many interesting facts, just the fact that you are going many places alone is a great perk, I have never worked in cold weather as I am in SoCal, but I understand that you guys are out in all types of weather and always on call. Thank you for sharing it is appreciated.
Wired horn
id be doing this if there wasn't a rule saying I couldn't.
That is merely the locomotive road number. That alone can't identify location, time, and crew.
thanks for subscribing check out aw shucks good info there
@jpaufsc I did not blow the horn until for grade crossings.
Thanks, what does the "layshaft" do? A manual throttle?
I'm not at will to disclose the location of filming.
OhMAgah the engineer did a horn salute
sorry It was a youtube error and it posted my reply 4 times.
Not sure what you mean by "cover up"
Which one?
Did the loco have a perdiddle????
It's always the pesky rules.
