"Yelling doesn't make people do things better or faster, it makes them cave in."
FINALLY A GUY THAT GETS IT
Yes, FINALLY
As a combat veteran, it depends on the individual.
OK I give in - I don't get it ):
Makes me overthink and screw up even more.
When I learned to drive I had an instructor that would yell at me when I made a mistake. I would make another mistake because the yelling broke my concentration completely and then he lost it, told me to park the car to yell at me some more. A friend of mine had the aame instructor and changes the company so she would get another one. He also changed the company.. . I don't know which eighteen year old gets really motivated by being yelled at, not us. We found him intimidating, I never felt completely comfortable being in the car with him.
Just one shirt needed for merch. Just says “...comin’ up”
I agree!!! 100% would buy!
I’d buy it!!!!
Me three!!!
And Kelsey on the shirt, and then the words ", Comin' up"
Needs to be underware, not a shirt!
I had a flight instructor who would yell at me, even on short final. It taught me to ignore him, to block off distractions and keep my cool. Then I had another one who was an aerobatics expert. He would, at random unexpected times, put us inverted (with an aircraft certified for this) or some other unusual position, and tell me, "ok, how do you get outta this?". That also taught me how to keep my cool. Plus it was a lot of fun!
When I could afford flight lessons, my flight instructor would pull the throttle out once we've finished the lesson (still around three thousand feet) and we would glide back to the airport from the training area. The first time I was definitely worried but later on became fine with it. Flight instructor was 10/10. Knew what he was doing, wanted to maximise learning experience, built up my courage and confidence, and seemed to always know when to push me in a way that would benefit my learning - had me land the plane on the first lesson which I hadn't been expecting so didn't have time to worry and instead just focus on landing.
It's awesome when you get a good flight instructor! I hope my next flight instructors are like yours!
What the fuck?😂
Any aircraft can fly inverted if you fly it fast enough.
I'd sock the ever living fuck out of an instructor if he did shit like this.
This guy deserves the success he got, he is smart, professional, kind and he is an extremely valuable source of infos for civil aviation enthusiasts, thx Kelsey, you are a good mate
there's the part where he's too entitled to wear a mask when flying as a passenger. Unless he's vaccinated. Then it might be okay.
@@thewhitefalcon8539 He said he did wear it even though he didn't like it
@@tvthecat Well good. Nobody likes them, we just want to end COVID more than we want to not wear them.

Remember the non-smoking section on airliners? There really wasn't one. It's like a no pissing section in a swimming pool.
In the last days of smoking on flights , Alaska Airlines had the last 3 rows assigned for smokers. But as you say, it really didn't make sense. But passengers did have to request it.
A Fascist move by airlines, NOT CUSTOMERS
@@roberthurleyjr4762 Look, jerk, I have to breathe that air; you DON’T get to pollute it! Sheesh...
@@roberthurleyjr4762 we have become social lepers. No smoking at work, walks outside, no smoking within 100ft of the building. So I vaped. Sorry, no vaping allowed. I went on a Cruise with P&O. 7:14 learned that the hard way. Growing up, my parents used yelling as a go-to form of control. I don't have a drivers' license. Those two facts are extremely related.
Kelsey: “Keep the blue side up”
The movie flight: “And I took that personally.”
I love the noise of landing gear coming down. It is clunky, just like something heavy falling down and hitting a stop. The sudden noise of the airstream adds suspense and drama. Just lovely!
Have my first flight lesson tomorrow, ready to start my aviation adventure.
awesome have fun Bryce.

You spin me right round...
Do a left barrel roll and tell him that you wanted to turn the volume down.
Talk to HR.
To me, hearing the landing gear go down just means, “Oh, boy, we’re almost there!”
Landing is just one use for landing gear. Landing gear down is a part of several emergency procedures, like to induce drag and also to absorb energy during a crash.

You have such a great attitude. Life is so much less complicated when you don't let every little thing bother you or other people having a bad day or that just being their personality. That is a great attribute to possess.
I've never seen "I'm a pilot" actually go anywhere other than around other pilots, and even then, it was more of a shared stories kind of thing. Even airshow pilots and fighter jocks get the same "we all have a job" blank stare.
2:09 In the Airforce we had a flight safety incident when a 2 seater fast jet did this. The back seater was so used to saying “3 greens” which means gear down and locked, on the exact same part of the landing circuit, that one day he still said “3 greens”out of habit even when it failed to deploy due to malfunction. If I remember correctly the pilot landed wheels up. The pilot was also partially at fault for not visually checking the gear indicator and taking the back seaters word for it.
“They bought their tickets, they knew what they were getting into, I say let em crash”

this is amazing even when you are reacting to memes you teach us something and we always learn about aviation in you videos man, i love the way you do it. Always waiting for your contents ! so much LOVE.
One time the pilot was making jokes about forgetting the keys of the plane in his house... and then we had to change planes. Jokes ended right then and there.
Kelsey when flying: Nose, comin’ up
After seeing your Q&A with Mentour pilot. I thought to myself, this guy seems like an experienced and responsible pilot. I'll give his channel a chance. After watching a few of his videos. I decided to subscribe to his channel as well.
You are both doing a great job of educating and expanding the aviation community. Keep up the good work.👍
Just wanted to thank you for your service.
It's nice knowing you're up there flying masks and vaccines to those who need it most.
7:24 Yeah, I have not done instrument flying, but on my third solo, there was an airship which got priority, so I was forced to hold and I had done holding maybe once in my training up to that point, so that was fun experience. I was glad because there was not other plane with me on hold, because the airspace is really tight at my airport.
I love how you gesture when you speak, my native language is not English and you make so easy to understand each word.
I love your videos 🤗😘
If i would've been an FO and the Captain would've been a screaming one, i would've started screaming too..."Oh, so we need to scream? Ok. VEE OOOONE! ROOOOTATE! POSITIVE CLIIIIMB!...." 😂
I try to say “comin’ up” with him in every video. Haha 😂 please make some merch with that!
lol I've tried that once or twice too... merch idea: a desk button that says "coming up" when you push it. Also gotta love Dhruv Sharma's comment about 7 after you!
Great advise as you turned a meme into a learning opportunity.
You're a good man Kelsey and you produce great videos. Thank you and extend my gratitude to your parents who did a wonderful job rearing you. All the best, from a long time subscriber.
I am not a pilot but I fly a lot of Big Rc planes and love aviation, I really enjoy your channel, put a smile on this old mans face.
This is my favorite video series on CZcams. Great job!
IMO: it should be in all union contracts that captains should never be able to scream at FOs.. If they still choose to scream, then there should be an obscure sub-clause that allows the f/o at least one face smack to test for sensibility.
Airlines are aware of problems like that and do stuff to avoid stuff like that, because of course there’s been a time when a captain bullied his first officer for most of the flight and then made a bunch of mistakes as they were preparing to land and the poor first officer was too scared to challenge him, even when it became dangerous.
Pilots are taught to grab the controls and fly the plane themselves if the other one was doing something stupid or dangerous. But he was too scared. He vocally warned the captain about the danger of the mountain that was up ahead, the plane itself gave the “terrain ahead, pull up” warning which the captain didn’t heed. By the time the first officer finally got the courage to seize the controls to do the emergency escape procedure, it was only six seconds before the plane crashed into the mountain.
So crew resource management is something the airlines are very aware of and yeah there are probably a ton of rules about it by now. But apparently there have been a couple times where physically violence or fights have broken out. I even think I heard that quite a few years back a captain hit the first officer and naturally neither she nor the airline was happy with him. I might see if I can look it up.
Dude, you kill me! If you start a late night talk show, I'll start watching late night talk again! Keep it up man!
Thank you mate, I am a student nurse who has an interest in aviation. It's great to hear you are a normal guy and you are so keen. Kudos to you.
LOVE the Bernie video meme at 6:06. Not only great work on the video but love the fact they used Kenny Loggins "Playing With The Boys" from the Top Gun soundtrack!
6:08 I love how Kelsey can do such a complicated job as being a 747 pilot, yet can't fathom how is it possible to track a Bernie picture into a video, lol 😆
Ahem. Hi, video production crew. My name is Mr. Fahrenheit, I'm a video editor and VFX artist and today I will explain how do you make an aviation meme with Bernie Sanders. So the technique used in this meme is called planar tracking. You tell the software which points or objects in the video you want it to track. Then it tries to track their movements throughout the scene. You end up with calculated trajectories for these points or objects. The quality of the results depends on the video quality and contrast of the tracked area (the higher the contrast in luminocity and color, the easier it is to track). Finally, all you have to do is to overlay desired picture or video on top of the tracked footage and attach it to the calculated movement trajectories. In the end, if your tracking data is good, you will get an illusion of your picture being attached to the object in the scene, perfectly copying its movements (in this case a picture of Bernie attached to the footage of the rotating plane). That's all for now, I'll see you in the editing room. Until then, keep your bitrates up.
got some Captain Disillusion vibes :D
I'm A SPACE ALIEN
dear Mr Video Editor, your criticism/advice would carry more weight if you could spell 'luminosity' correctly. Thank you, please come again
@@alistair1978utube Nah, it's video editing, not English writing. And although it's a term I frequently use, I hope you, kind sir, will pardon me, when you learn I'm a non-native English speaker.

Good for you Kelsey on your learning paradigm. My father trained pilots during the war and he was an adherent of the school of the harder you criticize the better the performance you will get from the student and that just doesn't work! Learning should be a positive experience and not one that makes you regret the undertaking of the objective.

@@notmenotme614 To fly in the Air Force you need to be an officer which requires you to go to college/university for 4 years and do rotc and commission. Then maybe you get selected to be part of the pilot program which is very tough and very competitive.

Extra attention to the engines. Definitely not a bad idea 💡😅
Private Pilot since 1975 (got my ticket at El Paso Intl., where my examiner was the infamous Larry Bartlett (we got along great)). Began business flying in 1972. It was still the Golden Age of commercial flying. Regardless of the airline company, it was the highlight of my business week, and I traveled 95% of the time (meaning I was active in business that period). I would love to see your "honest perspective" on the changes in airline travel. For instance, the loss of passenger freedom (TSA, security, body screening, etc.). Also, and I know I'm asking a lot here, while the flight deck crew has pretty much remained with the same demeanor, the flight attendants have become haggard, mean spirited, dictatorial, and generally unpleasant. "Golden Age" ... I would routinely by-pass the check-in counter and go directly to the gate to purchase my ticket (no kidding). Also (Ken / Karen nuclear breathing here), I would carry my shotgun (in scabbard) to the gate and request that if possible, the Captain approve my shotgun be placed in the 1st class baggage locker on the plane. This happened virtually every flight when I included hunting as part of my business agenda. Also, baggage handlers "placed" bags on the conveyor, versus the body slam applied today. Yeah ... we've come a long way.
Last year truck drivers were the heros. Rookie drivers were all excited we were finally getting recognized as the people that keep the world alive. They called me a cynic when I said in two weeks people will realize we're just doing what we've always done and we'll go back to being third class citizens. Two weeks later we were back to being chased away from getting our groceries, sleeping, or using a restroom. But, that's just the nature of the beast.
Kelsey ...LOL...not afraid to be a little bit bawdy. Within limits of course. Good job.
That meme when I hear the landing gear go down. That’s actress Taryn Manning who was on that jet blue flight that landed at LAX with damaged nose gear several years ago,
Finally, a REAL Pilot that "Gets It!" I laughed so hard at his GREAT posts, and great advice too!
That opening joke earned a “like” on every video from now on! Killin me.
We rejoice over the landing gear going down, not because of fear, but just from the knowledge that we must be close to landing and I will finally be able to get my 6'-5" 245 lbs frame out of the kindergarten seat I was crammed into.
ya these seats weren't really made for guys as tall as you, but you could also look at it like, you are paying the same price for someone half your size to get transported, so like 50% of a discount 😉
Watching these videos and hearing you talk about your career, I've always wondered, are there any plans that you've always wanted to fly? Like a Fokker triplane or a Concorde or an F-35? Thanks for all the entertaining videos. Good luck. We're all counting on you.

He's been a US Senator for a while and ran for president in 2016 but Hillary Clinton won the democratic primaries that year. Bernie has had huge support online especially with the younger crowd. The way he is sitting with that outfit is just "cool", I guess. The mittens/gloves he is wearing are actually a repurposed sweater made by a teacher that was friends with one of his relatives and people really really like those. I think a new business has started around them.
This guy reminds me of my uncle who's a pilot, sweet guy. He recently got Covid from an international flight, but thankfully he recovered with minimal long term effects.
I haven't been on tons of flights, but alot of the ones I have been on have the cockpit open as you leave so I always try and say a little thank you to the pilots and crew as I go out the door- I don't know if that's weird but the bus driver response just kicks in for me lol
I always make a point of thanking the people who do things for me - be it sweeping, mopping, driving a bus or taxi, being a flight attendant dealing with a$$holes, or the pilots who have to deal with the B.S. side of flying commercially every single day. When I call a call center to ask a question or get help, I always thank them, brighten up their day with a bit of humor, (I've done call centers too), and tell their boss that they're doing a good job. These jobs can be very stressful, and often don't pay $hit, but they need to be done and they deserve our appreciation and respect.
