  • Ford Ranger Misfire Fuel Injectors . This 1999 Ford ranger 3.0 V6 came to me with one dead cylinder misfire. Checked for spark on this ford ranger . Then checked Compression on this ford ranger 3.0 V6 . Reset the cam sensor because it was loose and able to turn on its own . Cam sensor turned , may be part of what caused the ford ranger to think it had a misfire on number 3 cylinder when it was number 2 cylinder misfiring. Put a new set of fuel injectors in the ford ranger 3.0 v6, after ohms testing the fuel injectors. Spark plugs , tightened the clamps on the air intake and it seemed to run pretty good after that . 02 sensor seemed to be ok after the fix and the loose wire only ran the temp gauge in dash.
wtbm123 car repair. bad fuel injector.

I had an old 94 ranger that started running really rough. Went through all the regular things, plugs, wires, even the injectors. Turns out that the vacuum system had gas in it. There was a vacuum controlled valve for the injectors (I think). Anyway it was allowed too much gas into the cylinders. Changed it and ran super!! It had a 4.0 eng.

A quick way to check fuel injectors is butting a long metal rod against each injector and listening with the other end tightly against your ear. You can even feel the vibration pattern through the rod with your hand. Sluggish injectors fire much slower than the good ones. If the [injector] firing rhythm isn't consistent, it's time to replace it.

@@wtbm123 that could be as u have tape holding together parts that aren't held together by clamps and inhave noticed when I mess around with that stuff it acts up more. I don't have a OBDII plug on my 94 my model has the ODB 1 but I will definitely look into it. Great truck other than this it's a tank

Having a mechanic's stethoscope and your ears would help you find that bad injector way faster. Good video though.

Yes that can help if injector is not working , but some injectors still work , just not well . but listening is a good first check . It is nice to test with ohms meter or some equipment , so one can have numbers to show costumer .

4.0 my first thought , vacuum leak . Check PVC hose . The one elbow likes to go bad a lot . . This is where a scanner with live data rules . You could lok at fuel trims . If one bank is way off , but fuel trims on other bank are good that can eliminate a lot of things . But with out live data it is harder . The MAF or Fuel pressure , CAM position sensor those things should cause the same issue on both banks . But bank 2 may be almost the same , but just not enough to set a code . But i would start by looking for vacuum leaks , That is from MAF in to engine . .

wtbm123 thanks thanks. Check for vacuum leaks seems ok. I disconnect the idle air valve and the engine Will not idle I was told by ford that show no vacuum leaks is this true. ? I have got a bank two Lean condition weeks ago. Thanks again.
