      I uploaded a video on setting up a tiny camper and CZcams muted my narration because of that exact Blue Oyster Cult song playing in the background (barely discernable) from my garage radio.

    Hi I noticed after my rangers 3.0 was rebuilt the fuel damper on the fuel rail is no longer present. The red vacuum line that connected to it was just there hanging. for rebuilds do they stop adding the dampers?

      Wow. That is an interesting question. 1st off, I am not a certified Ford mechanic so I might not be the best one to answer that. However, off the top of my head I would say in general whatever configuration it was is before, should be the same now. Certainly, there should be no loose vacuum lines laying around. I find that disturbing that a shop/mechanic would release a job with any hoses simply laying there. Is there vacuum at that hose? if so than absolutely no, it should not be un-connected. That would be a big vacuum leak. I do recall that somewhere in the video I believe, I tried to install the rail backwards so that the part that the hose attaches to was in the right rear instead of the left front, but I don't recall the exact details. Take a look for that. I'm not sure it will even go in that way. If I get a chance, I'll watch it myself and see if I can check that.

    Do you have link or part number for new injectors? Have a 07 Ranger 3.0 haven't found 4 hole injectors all parts stores are 3 hole injectors.

    Hey man im about to do this to my 2001 3.0l. Its got 328k miles and its time ! QUESTION : where is the upper and lower intake manifold gasket? I only see one in your video. Is there suppsed to be upper and lower gaskets ?? Thanks a bunch !

      So, going by memory... I hope I have some. The upper collector has the seals, the upper intake is next, I believe the lower intake manifold is where the injectors are installed and is attached to the cyl heads. To change the injectors, I don't think you need to pull the lower intake manifold. I'm heading out the door so I don't have time to watch the vid myself right now. I think that's right. I will watch it as soon as I can to jog my memory and reply again. It will probably be Monday afternoon/evening. Thanks.

      @@teammudshark6894 Okay great to hear from you. yes i ordered the parts and they come in on the 7th. I just bought the felpro set that came with all the upper and lower gakets and the plenum gasket which is what i see in your video. its the round ones

    I'm changing injectors and broke the hose on the fuel rail. Cant seem to find one anywhere for a 3.0. Any suggestions

      Good morning. I'm not sure which one you mean but, any of the hard lines you will most likely only find used. A junkyard is the most likely source. Maybe ebay. The good news is that there are apparently a large # of these trucks with this engine out there. If you have a u-pull-it yard like LKQ you can probably go pull one yourself and grab anything else you might need/want related to the engine or the rest of the truck for that matter.

      you probably got it fixed by now but i had the same thing happen to me. i got some 1/4 rubber fuel hose and cut it to length and put hose clamps on each side. works as it should

    So is this correct.
    By swapping from the plug wire end where it connects to the spark plug, you are testing ignition up to the plug wire to spark plug end.
    And by swapping from the coil pack you are testing ignition up to the coil pack.
    Is this right?

      It's all to isolate where the issue is, Does the problem follow the plug/wire or does it stay with the cyl no matter what. Unless there's a major compression issue, process of elimination. Since the cost is so low, replacing the injectors can only help, especially with high mileage. The first thing I do when I get a "new" vehicle to work on is do a major tune up. Then you know that with sight exception ( a rare bad new plug for instance ) the plugs, wires, cap and rotor are new. Replacing the injectors is just one step up. If there is an unknown issue with the engine, sometimes that will take care of it without any troubleshooting required at all. That's what is referred to as "putting yourself in a known situation". You don't have to wonder about the condition of the ignition or the fuel injectors. Plug wires generally come with a lifetime warranty. I replace them every 2nd tune up just because. I tend to keep vehicles a long time so I have replaced starters, water pumps, radiators, alternators, and shocks under warranty. You just to remember to make a copy of the receipt and keep it so they can read the bar-code years later. The ink on those receipts fade out pretty fast. I think I sort of got of track ish.       Ok. So this is what made sense to me.
      Of course, by switching plug wire 6 from cyl 6 to cyl 5, your gonna get a timing code on top of the misfire code.
      However, the misfire code will switch over to cyl 5 if there is a problem with wire 6.
      If there were a problem with the spark plug the code would stay on cyl 6 cus both wire 6 and spark plug 5 would be working when you switch the wire over from 6 to 5.
      If the problem is with the wire, you can't really know if it's the wire or the coil for a certain cylinder so this is when you have to switch cyl 6 wire to cyl 5 from the coil pack or distributor.
      Is This correct?
      Hence, isolating the problem.

      Google image search "'2003 Ranger 3.0 firing order" or whatever year your truck is. Works with any vehicle, shows you the cylinder locations. Cylinder 1 side is Bank 1

      Hiya. Started on single and twin piston poppers, on to helicopters, then Cirrus SR22 mainly, ended up with King Airs, Beechjets, and Hawker Biz jets. Pilot since Aug 1980. Not nearly enough flight time.

      Yes sir. Only a private pilot, SEL, so far. I see my biggest possible mistake, cause u never know, was not pursuing a career as a pilot. I got my pilot's license 1st while at A & P school but then was more interested in getting back home than continuing to fly. Have to admit I had a fun career as a mechanic mostly because for most of it I had access to other people's airplanes. Got a couple of hours in helicopters as well but I think I would have had much more fun having the money that comes with being an airline pilot. Probably would have my own airplane and the ability to pay for it. At present the airlines are hurting for pilots. Many have feeder programs to fast track your entry to the airline. If I was a young pilot now, I would definitely do whatever I could to get into one of those programs. Every time I see an airliner fly over me I feel like they're taunting me. You usually don't get a 2nd chance at making decisions when you first start out. There's no going back though. I hope to get back in the air soon. it's been over 20 years since I flew as PIC. With some luck, the sooner the better. It's funny, I even crave flying a C150. the little birds are a lot of fun. Things are a lot different now. Gotta think much safer with ADS B. VFR used to be simply see and avoid. Had only a few close encounters, but those tend to wake you up fast. Thanks for the comment. I only managed to get a couple of hours in a J3 for tail dragger time. It was only $16/hr wet at the time. So many missed opportunities...

    Change fuel injectors when you get a problem or you're running more than 5% lean or rich. Unless you have the money / time.

      Yeah, not the 1st time I've heard that. For what it's worth, this was one of my first videos. I'm still surprised that it was allowed considering the copyright issues. I basically now do all my videos without any music. One of these days I'll get around to learning to use some generic free use for low volume background so you don't have to listen to me drone on. On the other hand, I actually like to drone on about everything I think might be of use based on what I've learned over the years. Thanks.

      Well, this was one of my earliest videos. The music though good is definitely a distraction. I do them all without a soundtrack now. There are plenty of videos out there. Sometimes it's best to watch more than one and try to get as much info as possible from each. I try to cover as many details as possible but I do miss things. Thanks for watching anyway.

      Yeah, this is one of my 1st videos. I no longer have anything in the background unless it's part of the environment. It's much easier. And that's the beauty of youtube. There are usually many videos on each subject. I add mine to the mix to share my experience in hopes that someone can have an easier time of it. I leave my mistakes cause if I did it, someone else is likely to as well. The strongest lessons are learned by making mistakes. Better to learn from other people's mistakes. It's much less expensive.
