I'm Mexican and when i was a little kid we were very poor family my mom raised me and my sister working hard all day every day. And we barely had enough to pay for our needs. In my life the gospel have actually bring prosperity not to be misunderstood by wealthy and it didn't happen instantly. But now I'm not rich or have a big bank account or a fancy car. But I have what I need and I can say that it was because of the Gospel and the Lord Jesus Christ and can't help every time I read the verses in the book of Mormon that is true. If you keep the commandments you will prosper in the land.

    • @MoroCortz
      @MoroCortz Před 3 lety +1

And maybe we differ in our perspective of prosperity because I was born in a humble home for me prosperity was anything better than what I had. But here America many of the brothers and sisters are born in prosperity thanks to the faithfulness of the people of this country. Which I think you need to see into a broader perspective and realize that fact that just by living in US is a blessing itself. Look at many other countries that have very little. I just wanted to make clear why I understand the prosperity different than you.

Thank you for the insights that you share! This particular lesson is very timely for me. The Book of Mormon really was written for our day. What we are reading are the very things that are happening right now. I have been feeling very frustrated and even angry sometimes about so many things that are going on, so I have been praying to Heavenly Father to help me to see things as He would have me see them . This video has been part of the answer to my prayers. I know that all things are in His hands, and that every promise He has made to us, He will keep. We need to keep our promises and covenants to Him so that we are worthy of the blessings that He wants to give us, and that we so desperately need at this time.
I have been giving some thought about the war in Heaven and all of what is happening right now here on Earth. I recently shared with a friend that I think some of what we are feeling right now might be reminiscent of how we must have felt in premortal life when Lucifer wanted to take away our agency, and we needed to stand for agency, the Plan of Salvation; our liberty to choose. That is happening right now. There are people who are hungry for power and are stirring up many people to anger and make war so that they might strategically take away our God-given rights to liberty. In contrast, there are those of us who see what is going on and desire to defend our freedom to worship God as we desire, to enjoy the blessings of freedom, and defend the sanctity of home and family.
The Book of Mormon truly has been written for our day, and testifies of Jesus Christ who is our Savior and Redeemer. May He give us the strength, courage, and resolve to stay true to Him and His Gospel, no matter the cost.

I'm a word nerd (true story: my husband proposed to me with a dictionary in a Barnes and Noble...) and I love the insights into the words themselves in this and other lessons. Thinking about the "lig" root in religion/obligation, I realized align is probably connected :) as well. My mind then went to the sealing or binding power and how the Lord is "bound when ye do what I say" and how people are "cut off" or cut themselves off: I always like the analogy of the kite string- people think they will be free if they cut that ligament/connection of covenants & commandments but the kite always falls... lots to think about! Thanks!

I would venture to say that the “finer things in life” are found in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Some material possessions are needful and we’re encouraged to do what we can to become self reliant and provide for ourselves and our families. The finest we can ever attain is the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost, a firm conversion, and change of heart in this life and exaltation in the life to come.

"The Prosperity Gospel" falsehood. Love it. My father b. 1911 asked the bishop for ALL the widows who little means as home teachees. He took care of all their house problems, purchased groceries for them, taught them genealogy, etc; he was their "go to" person. He even dug trenches in his old age (!!) to fix their plumbing problems. He was a humble man with a college degree who did not have financial means due to circumstances at the time. One night he attended a stake priesthood mtg where they touted that if you were living the gospel you "should be" financially prosperous (guess the Lord didn't love Joseph Smith then). You can imagine how sad and frustrated my father was with this false teaching.
I am glad I grew up without much money; I learned so much about flexibility, living with less, giving, and gratitude. My father has been gone a long while now and all of my siblings have felt my father's presence in their lives very strongly during stressful times, as if the Lord gave him access to this world to continue his service whenever he wanted. I wonder. Bet he inherits a mansion.

Tyler and Taylor, I knew I would find correlation in these chapters between today's struggles, and the struggles of Moroni, your lesson taught me how very much our country, leaders, freedom and most importantly, our FAITH, is at a crossroad that we can only prevail by way of prayer, obedience to our covenants, and applying the lessons taught by our prophets in the book of Mormon. I pray daily for our leaders to be guided by the power and wisdom of our Savior, and altho our leader IS a believer, I don;t think he knows what WE KNOW, so he does need our prayers, brought in FAITH----rick

T&T Brothers, What a jammed back scripture block with so many Principles to reflect on. Some personal insights: The War chapters (Alma 43-52) helps us with the following questions: Is War always evil? When does the Lord justify War and if so Why? Why did Mormon include so many chapters on War?
Mormon included these War chapters in the Book Of Mormon to TEACH us Principles of Spiritual Conflict as well as Physical. The Lord teaches that War is justified When: Alma 43:45-47, 48:14-16. These War chapters teach us the Lord’s disciples can retain the Spirit even on the battlefield Alma 44:1-2, Alma 48:11-16,23.
Finally, the Compare n contrast is a Type n Shadow of Jesus Christ with Captain Moroni Alma 48:17 and Satan with both Zemnarihah & Amalickiah Alma 46:9.
    Q. What can Captain Moroni teach us TODAY about the Title Of Liberty and our OWN Spiritual struggles on our battlefields?
Let's waive our own Title of Liberty and stand for righteousness !!

Thank you for giving me different insights to think about, especially with pointing out and exposing Satan's tactics from the preexistence to the time of the BOM and then to our day. I have seen families (including my brother and his family) who were fully endowed members, led away by a few different dissenters of our church by using the philosophies of men mingled with scripture. I wish they could see "who" is truly leading them carefully away from Christ's true gospel.

I was impressed in Moroni’s (Christ’s) battle with Zarahemnah (us) that he was willing to immediately let them go free if they would 1. Deliver up their weapons (repent) and 2. Enter into an oath to not fight (make a covenant i.e. baptism). Delivering up the weapons alone was not enough. They had to make an oath. I feel like Christ offers us forgiveness immediately when we repent and enter into a covenant (baptism) with him.
Also, I wonder if the reason Lehonti’s people did not want to fight the Nephites was because they did not want to break the oath that they had made.

The Nephite War ethic is interesting because it is everything against the War ethic of Joseph Smith's time. Joseph Smith was part of the post Napoleonic period which glorified attack attack attack. All influences at the time would have promoted that war ethic. The Nephite War ethic is unlike any I've ever encountered beint as defensive centric. Marvelous example they were a "peculiar" people. The Nephite nation crumbled when they violated that war ethic. Truly a unique civilization. Your instruction was very insightful into the more symbolic portion of this Book which was very well done.

    • @taylorhalverson3052
