    Absolutely brilliant lesson. Thank you both soooo much. I appreciate the weekly additional teaching that you provide. Gosh, you give so many insights into this lesson, I have to keep playing it back so I can keep it fresh in my mind. We reap what we sow, this gospel is true and perfect, even though we aren't and we shouldn't judge otherwise because of poor examples. The tree of knowledge and the tree of Life, brilliantly explained! The restoration when we are resurrected there was so much covered. Thank you so much for all your efforts.

    This week's Come Follow Me podcast really tugged on the heartstrings. Taylor, I was very touched to hear about your wife having to go through her physical struggles, especially at stressful times. It seems these challenges never come at a convenient time. One observation from this week's scripture Block, specifically Chapter 42. "The Plan" from Chapter 42 includes the 3 Pillars of Heaven (Bruce R. McConkie) Creation (42:2), Fall (42:6), and Atonement (vs.15). Justice being a Law of Consequences while Mercy is a law of redemption because of the Saviors Atonement. Corianton found out that REPENTANCE is better to Prepare & Prevent than it is to Repair & Repent !! Sin without Repentance causes one to Loose Knowlege. Gratefully, Corianton found the Principle of Repentance and returned to us clean again in Alma 49:30 !! Thank you T&T Brothers for another heartfelt Podcast !!

    Taylor’s experience about his wife reminded me of a similar time for me when I was praying for my newly diagnosed young developmentally disabled daughter. I was having trouble accepting the situation and praying for a cure, to make it go away so she would have the future I had hoped for her. I was singing the sacrament song in church when a powerful voice spoke to my mind telling me that her condition would not change in this life, but in the resurrection she would be made perfect. Through grateful tears I accepted the situation and started focusing on ways to help her rather than denial.

      Lola Speckart I feel for you! My 6 year old son has autism and o have been wrestling with God over it for years now but I have been fasting and praying for a long time and I’m about to embark on a new diet plan with a bunch of supplements. The one I’m doing is called the root cause protocol which deals with the root cause of what’s going on in our children’s bodies and can help them heal. I spent a lot of time in denial too but I am now excited for the things that I can do to help and a discovering that there are so so many 🤗🤗🤗

      Jenny McCaffrey I understand entirely. Our situations are the same, but different. My daughter is now in her early 40s. She has been a blessing and has taught us many things. She has also challenged us many times almost to the breaking point, with her cognitive impairment, autism, and bipolar disorder. My testimony is that at every point where we felt there was no place to turn and no solution for the problem we were facing, God miraculously opened up the answer, every single time. Thank you guys for another great lesson, and thank you Taylor for the incredibly personal story of the trials of your wife. There is something incredibly uplifting about hearing about some faithful saint's trials that don't get solved immediately with a blessing, or fasting and prayer, and their subsequent struggle (eg; biography of Spencer W. Kimball). How they continue to stay fast, hold strong, and then have an even more incredible/uplifting message sent to them - because of their dedication and struggle. In other words, a great testimony to never give up - stay the course - he is still there, pulling for us. Thanks.

    Hey Taylor, so sorry to hear about your wife’s health trials. I noticed you said that her feet were not healing well after the surgery and then the fact that there is a degeneration in her hearing as well made me think of cellular degeneration that dr Jerry Tennant specialises in. It’s all based in the concept of what our cells need to regenerate and heal. Ive always been fascinated by President Nelson talking about the laws that govern the heart and once he could figure out those laws he knew he would be able to begin heart surgery even though at the time he was told no one can touch the heart without the patient dying - there is a natural law to every ailment, I don’t believe anything “just happens” “and that’s just how it is” I feel like we must always been seeking and search through the “good books” like in D.C. for more knowledge on how to help and help our bodies . Anyway here is an article on his book -www.tennantbiomodulator.ca/2-uncategorised/11-dr-jerry-tennant-healing-is-voltage?showall=1 also has she looked into functional Medicine which is all about individualised healing diets ... sending lots of love and hope! Xoxox

    I loved today’s video. I’ve heard/seen the justice, mercy, and Christ diagram at the end of the video from chapter 42, but after reading it this time, I came to a new understanding/enlightening. I’m curious if anyone else sees mercy as our Heavenly Mother, justice as our Heavenly Father, and Christ as our representation of the Law.

      Morgan Anderson as my husband and I were studying Alma 42 I came to the same conclusion. I said wait did you catch that it said “her” for mercy? It is Heavenly Mother who is going to show mercy. Nice to see I’m not alone.

    • @taylorhalverson3052
      @taylorhalverson3052 Před 4 lety +3

      Yes and no. God has a fullness of all divine attributes (as does Heavenly Mother). So it's probably best to not claim that one has a certain quality and the other doesn't. Furthermore, English doesn't use "gendered" language as other languages do. For example, the word "house" in English in neither "male" or "female" whereas in Spanish "house" is a female gendered word. Not that a house is female...but the word used to talk about a house uses female spanish endings. Similarly, Hebrew has gendered words. The Hebrew word for "wisdom" is "female" and so ancient authors often described "wisdom" as a woman (see Proverbs). And in Ancient Egyptian, the word for mercy is also feminine. That sense seems to have carried through from ancient Hebrew and Egyptian into the English translation of the Book of Mormon, but does not mean that Heavenly Mother is wisdom and mercy and God the Father is not.

    Man I love you guys .what a great job.i served my mission with two leg braces and crutches on my mission under Elder Hartman Rector Jr. I love doing missionary work. I walked into a tire store to get a new tire .I started up a conversation after letting him know that I was a member of the church of the church. I said that it had to meny laws and that he did not believe in keeping them .I told him that any field of work employment has disaplents laws of becoming performance. I told him that so does overcoming ourselves and becoming more like our Heavenly parents. In short he turned walked away and said I do not care .this left we thinking why do we hurt ourselves and our potential in so much rebellion.???.LOVE

    The whole Isabel/Baal comment in the video completely ignores the first 13 verses of Alma 39. It's very clear Isabel is a actual person, and that sexual sin was the error. Verse 4 "She did steal away the hearts..." and verse 9 "Go no more after the lusts of your eyes..." - the message is simple and clear.
    Generally a great lesson but less speculation would be good. This was just too much of an intellectual wresting of the scriptures for me.
    Important to remember this is not a church approved site and a good deal of the material that is 'interesting' is pure speculation and at times a stretching, even wresting, of scripture for the purpose of an 'interesting thought', and while interesting, is not a replacement for 'Come, Follow Me' study.

    • @rwatson5219
      @rwatson5219 Před 4 lety +5

      I also agree that the 'Baal' link to Isabel is unhelpful and not supported by the text. It reminded me of something I once read "An unconventional reading of scripture is not equivalent to a deep reading of scripture." This is certainly the case here to an otherwise very thoughtful discussion.

    EDIT: I'm assuming that since I am just hearing crickets that you two don't or can't respond to questions regarding doctrine?? Just wondering - thanks!
    I have a few questions I was hoping you could help me answer:
    1. When the scripture says that all men will be returned to God after they die, does that mean literally that every person will go back to the presence of God for a period of time, and then go either into Paradise or Spirit Prison? I have always been taught that God cannot be in the presence of sin - so everyone no matter who they are - member of the Church or not, is going to have some sin when they die. Will everyone be in the actual presence of God before they go to Spirit Prison or Paradise?
    2. Is the Tree of Life in the Garden of Eden the same symbolic tree in Lehi's vision? The Garden of Eden Tree of Life gave people eternal life, it doesn't say in Lehi's dream that people who partake of the fruit are made instantly immortal, and it sounds like there were some who, after eating the fruit fell away - so based on all of that, it sounds like it's not the same symbolic tree - but they both have the name of Tree of Life?
    3. This isn't so much a question as an observation: The only time that God took away man's free agency, is when he made sure that Adam and Eve couldn't partake of the Tree of Life in the Garden of Eden. It would be interesting to have a discussion on that - that's the only time that we are aware of, that man's free agency to choose was taken away.

    Do you have any information of the population of the cities? What in the Nephite's mind made a city? Also, were there certain seasons of the year when wars happened - for instance not during planting or harvest season? Also, what is your explanation of Alma 51:26 and Alma 59:5? Question 2: regarding Alma 51:26 and Alma 59:5. What Alma 59:5 means is that the inhabitants of a variety of cities that had fallen to Lamanites (including the many of the inhabitants of the city of Morianton) had fled to the city of Nephihah. And now Nephihah was attacked by the Lamanites. So the these nephites had to flee a second time.

      @@taylorhalverson3052 In Alma 51:26 I get the impression that Nephihah was taken possession by the Lamanites and then in 59:5 it is repeated. Was Nehpihah captured twice? In the February Ensign 2016 there is a slight explanation saying that perhaps there are typos. I don't recall the page or the article. Do you know what was considered a city in today's standard? I knew about the sunken cities but I have often wondered if we know what consisted a "city". Thanks for the references about the "war" years. It was pretty much what I expected.

The Hebrew Taan, or Strongs 2943, has the meaning of To stab, thrust through, which is what Teancum does to both. The remaining part of the name could be Quwm (6965) to decree or remain.
