- I forgot to post this vlog a while back, and now I am back from honeymoon (If you haven't seen, I have been posting a lot on instagram about all of my wedding etc!) and am back to editing 🥰 so thought I would post this whilst I edit all of the wedding bits and bobs! But if you want to stay up to date with everything then I really recommend tiktok and insta (@gracebooth97 ) because I post much more regularly on there. I am so genuinely happy for you Grace!! Im 25 and have no plans of moving out from my parents any time soon. I have been dreaming of renovating my own place but found myself feeling sad in the new year that I would have to wait until I find a partner or have enough money for a house. My New Years resolution was to teach myself how to decorate so I've spent that last 6 months decorating my parents spare bedroom and I have found it SO empowering. I don't need anyone to help me and I've taught myself (with the help of CZcams), saved them money and gained valuable life skills ALL by myself. The windowsills, picture rail, door & skirting board are all sanded, primed and painted and the room is now fully wallpapered - and it looks FAB. It just seems like another chore/project for someone but its taught me that I shouldn't doubt myself or my abilities because I smashed it - its also got me over my fear of walking in B&Q and feeling like a fraud!! I know this is long but haven't found anyone to share my feelings about this with and I know this is a safe community of like minded people - to anyone that has read this far, don't let your believe of self worth or your doubts hold you back, GO for it because what's the worst that can happen?
i’m 24 in a month and i alternate between my parents house and the apartment i share with other people in the city where i study and i see nothing wrong with that🤷♀️
I am so with you, don't see anything wrong with doing what's best for you, and if that is moving out, great, if its living at home, great, if its living in a camper van travelling the world, great or, like you, if you are moving between your parents house and your apartment share, great! It just has to be what is right for YOU!
I spent the 5 years I was doing my bachelor's and master's as well as 2 more years in other countries and have now recently moved back to my home city at 25. I have my own apartment, but spend the night at least once per week at my parents' house and it's a total blessing. If one's parents are good people, I really don't see why one should follow this "the more distance the better and don't you dare rely on each other"-approach so prevalent in a lot of western countries.
@@miraj5569 i feel like the idea of moving out asap is very western for sure, at least i always see americans moving out at 18 and acting like if ur over 20 still living with ur parents ur basically a failure, i’m from central/eastern europe and here i feel like most of the people my age, especially students still live with their parents at least partially, and i know in other cultures it’s normal to live at home until you’re married🤷♀️
When I saw your insta reel about the eve before your wedding where you said you wanted to get ready at home and I was like „where else would you get ready?“… now it makes sense😊❤️ so happy for you, been on your journey with you for a long time now so this is so wholesome🥹❤️
@@loveIetter Yeah, the society is brainwashed and people are not even ready to move out, they don't have the money for it. You MUST gain at least 3 times your rent to be able to only have a roof under your head which is... crazy to me :o

I admire you so much, so many young couples have to have everything perfect from day 1, but the reality is we have to work towards getting the things we really want and when we do, we enjoy them even more. I love that you went to charity shops and the Facebook market place looking for furniture. I'm also so thrilled at how happy you look and sound. What you said about comparison is so true. I'm in my late 20s and still living in my childhood home mostly because my health has stopped me from being able to take those steps. I desperately want to get outta this house and im jealous of people my age buying their homes and getting married but I'm not gonna feel ashamed of my circumstances. Also congratulations on so many amazing things happening in your life rn!! You deserve it!!! :) We love ya!
I did that for 41 years. It was great. I used it as a base to travel every few years. 😊
It doesn’t get easier. I’m looking at fifty now. I’m on my second property, but I’ve missed all the other standard life milestones, mostly thanks to rubbish health issues and basically having to just bounce between working and hospital in an attempt to stay alive and keep the roof over my head so no time for anything else. Doing it all alone. It’s no life really. It’s hard to step back and try and find a moment to enjoy something. I really want to not be so lonely. Hope your life works out better. I still feel like I’m in my twenties waiting to get going! But in reality I need to count down the pay days to retirement and try to get the mortgage paid off. 🤯

@@FJ-no3ir best wishes FJ. Make the best of what comes your way. I didn't and I regret it. I'm still trying to learn this difficult lesson. Life might not look like I want it to. But I am in danger of letting bitterness about it swallow me up. 'Why me' syndrome is not healthy. I've enough health problems without that on top! Hold your head high and value your friends and family. Take enjoyment where you can, make and seize opportunities, but don't beat yourself up if life isn't a copy and paste of other people your age. You are you. Not them.

I'm happy that you are sharing all of this with us. I just got engaged a few months ago, and my fiance and I are in the process of looking for a house now. It is overwhelming but also so exciting. And, yes, mind-blowing. It's weird how you feel like your life is kind of stagnant for so long, and then all of a sudden, you are in a completely different place than you expected you'd be. It's just nice to have someone to relate to in this season of my life, so thank you.😊

So proud of you, Grace. Congratulations on your new home. I left home to go to uni, moved home "temporarily" after I graduated, but then I got really sick at 23 and my parents became my carers. Now I've rehabilitated and I'm fulfilling my dream of travelling around the world at 27. I still don't feel however like I've shut the door on living with my parents forever though. I love them, they're my best friends, I'm so lucky to have that kind of relationship with them. Why wouldn't I live with them again one day?! F*** anyone so set in their ways that they criticise others for living their own lives on their own terms! I love the idea of multigenerational homes so who knows what the future holds!

So happy for you! And completely agree with you about comparing. The person you're comparing against could be in debt up to their eyeballs just to furnish the house or have a swanky car. On the other side, other people only afford a single secondhand sofa, neither is wrong but you just never know. Hope you two are so happy in married life. One bit of advice, know each others love languages but also know each others processing style, do they go quiet, do they need to talk, do they get angry or upset. Really important to know. Last thing, don't be afraid to communicate, you can never over communicate, I am an overthinker and sometimes my husband is just not feeling it, we just say to each other, "it's not you, just not feeling it" knowing where you stand is crucial 😊

I’m usually a silent watcher but my goodness, my heart is exploding seeing how happy you are with life at the moment 💕 my older sister once said ‘I’ve found your youtube twin!’ and showed me your channel - she said that we had exactly the same personality and then we found out that we’re the same age with our birthdays a few days apart, then weird things like getting covid at the same time and visiting the same places (all coincidences obvs haha), but it genuinely feels heartwarming to see you smiling and sharing these experiences with us, and I think for a lot of people it’s like watching a long distant best friend send you life updates that you couldn’t quite manage to get there for. Can’t wait for all the renovations and vlogmas next!

Grace, as someone who has lived alone for close to 4 years now (I'm 27), you are gonna constantly find things you need that you don't have, you will constantly realise things you forgot, and things can be slow going and not at a pace you like, but it is good once it is mostly there!
And to be a bit personal, it's nice seeing you move like this, I was homeless twice and didn't have a great home environment/relationship with my family, me leaving so young was not a choice, so it is nice to see you happily move with help. Also, personally I used to love baking but I never do it any more, having no friends, little family, baked goods are mostly wasted, I love and miss it but it just burns money and waste food. I was worried about that with you, but I guess with all your friends, family, and future husband you will have a lot of people to bake for still which is nice! I hope things go well, this will be an exciting adventure and it is great to have all that control and freedom over a space!😊

I’m 21 and not doing well on my own. I go to university in London but really struggled during my third year so I’m moving home and commuting to university whilst I repeat the year. I am still working through the embarrassment and feeling of failure for having to move back home, and missing graduation with my cohort but it’s necessary if I want to prosper.
Living with your parents in adulthood is not a bad thing. Sometimes you need your family more than you need the space on your own. As long as you’re happy and supported, you’re doing well! Some people can have everything in life (the car, great job, fulfilment) and live with their parents. It’s ok; do what works for you and your family. I’m sorry anyone ever made you feel less than!
You've done a good job assessing your situation and taking the steps to get yourself back on track & moving forward. Let go of your embarrassment. In five years you'll see your struggles of the past year for what they were: just a bump in the road to a better self & future.
It takes a lot of self love and intelligence to know when to step back and look after yourself, so although it will feel like a failure or embarrassment, it’s actually a victory and you’ll be so glad you put yourself first!
There's no failure in needing to go back home for a while. You're still so so young! One of my friends moved out entirely into her own place and had to move home again twice before she finally moved out for good. That's what she needed. There's no shame in it. You're lucky that you were raised to know yourself well enough that you know what you need. You've got this.

Congratulations Grace! 🎉 I just want to preference that moving out and buying a house are two completely different things. To be able to BUY at your/our age is an accomplishment. Especially in this economy! Looking forward to seeing renovations vlogs. I bought my home less than a year ago so we are slowly but surely decorating the space. Don’t rush with decorating because your preferences will change. Take your time and buy quality items you’ll forever love 😊. Get the necessities and gather the rest over time.
