Thanks! My replacement went quick and easy just like your video. Oddly enough, your fridge and your floor tile look exactly like mine. The air in the line was cleared by 4 cups but I did 2 gallons just to be safe. Good Job to you and Brice.
Wow! $20 for the filter. That's a great deal. Our old fridge had the "in-grille" access too. Our new Whirlpool has it above the top shelf. Thanks for the great walkthrough on this.
Thanks! You just saved me a big headache! Dummy me couldn't figure out where the filter door was and your video helped me find it! I was actually looking inside the fridge where the temperature control indicators etc. Tried there and couldn't open any 'door' and would have broken the plastic housing but you helped me!!
Mz Vee definitely flush after you install the new filter. There will be some filter media loose in the water filter from manufacturing. I would flush at least a gallon. Glad it helped you. Bryce says hi.
Thank you for sharing this my door had popped off and i had never changed the filter its new to me . And i was so greatful to find a video for door reference. Thank you
Thank you very much for making this video. I had never done this before and y our video made it very easy for me to do. I did have the door pop back open the first time I shut it, but it closed fine after that.
Thank you for this. Of course mine was stuck and opening the door didn’t eject the filter. 😞 The water and ice dispenser will not work so has to have something to do with a frozen line, too much pressure to release the filter or a horrible clog in the filter valve. We will see!!!
Hello Chris, Thank You for the video demo, Bryce made the video happy to watch, his sweet voice :) We were able to install it, but when it was installed and we shut the little door...Good Riddance the bottom of fridge started to leak like crazy, we´re talking puddles, so we opened again and now the door won´t shut, but it seems like the filter is in still and working? Or at least it seems
PS It doesn’t sound like the filter is installed properly. Remove the filter. Make sure the arrow is pointing in the correct direction and reinstall the filter. The door needs to close, otherwise it will not work properly. It does take a little effort to get it to close. Closing the door pushes the filter into its proper place.
@@ChrisColter Thank You for the speedy reply, we appreciate it. Well, we tried closing the door after reinstalling the filter, but the darn door broke off, grrrr! Really sucks since you said the door must be shut in order for filter to work to correctly filter the water. Oh well, it is what it is, somehow well rey and fix the little door.
PS yes, it sounds like you may have the wrong filter, or something is obstructing it from going all the way in. The door probably pushes the filter in for the last 1/2” to 1”. If it is sticking out farther than that before closing the door, there is definitely a problem.
@@ChrisColter Yes that´s what I figured, bummer! I´ll figure it out, perhaps call an appliance repair from our apartment building. As for the filter, I believe it´s the correct one, since it looks identical to the old one, numbers and all. Thanks again for your help
You may have it in upside down. Try not to force the door closed. If you have to use more force than what is shown, you may have the wrong filter or it is not positioned correctly.
Chris Colter its the right filter i changed it before i had it on when i replaced it and one night the lid cover opened and i wont close when filter is on. When i take it out it does close.
@@Chasingdreams_ maybe one of the o-rings got stuck inside the receptacle? Make sure the o-rings came out with the old filter. If you are replacing it with the exact same filter, I don't know what else to tell you other than to check that the o-rings. There should not be anything else blocking it.
they now sell them for $60 in warmart !! you have to be careful with the ones that coming from amazon because some dont work right and these are the one that come from china the funny part is they using the the same media as my fish tank that cost way less and for more!!
Is that what happened to me then ? I bought 2 of these from amazon around 2 years back and after the changing the water filter , the water would stop dispensing. Put back the old filter and voila it works again. Was it because amazon gave me a bad product ?
I have this fridge, but the lever that is supposed to catch the filter and pop it out doesn't connect. For the life of me I cannot get the old filter out. I've taken off the entire lower panel to try and get better access, but the slick sides of the filter make it impossible to grip. Any suggestions?
That is a tough situation. You might be able to get a grip on the end of the filter with a pair of channel locks. If all else fails, I would turn the water supply off to the fridge, then screw a sheet metal screw into the end of the old filter. Residual water will probably come out as you put the screw in. That will give you something to pull on with the pliers. Hope that helps.
Hi Chris, I have a whirlpool also but the filter replacement is on the inside. When I press water dispenser the filter pops out so I am stuck. There is no one that can help me.
Oh no. Make sure you have the exact same replacement filter and that it is being inserted all the way. It will either click into place or the filter door will lock it in place.
@@ged16m yes. I found out that the line was frozen. Once I turned down the temp of refrigerator and the line defrosted, it worked fine. That may be your problem
JOEL VILLEGAS other than the filter door, the only other thing holding it in place on my refrigerator is the two rubber o-rings that seal the filter at the end. Not sure why it would be stuck.
i had the same issue and i was really frustrated. however, it was so easy to fix. it was happening because of the white thing that is ejecting the filter... took it out, put it back in and it ejected fine.
Diane Rivas good question! I would call the manufacturer of your refrigerator, and see if they sell a replacement door. You have to have the door, or it won’t hold the filter in properly.
Oh no! When you open the filter door, the filter should come out. Make sure you are opening the filter door all the way...about 90 degrees. I've never heard of one being stuck. You may need a professional to help.
@@ChrisColter thank you! I just tried but no luck.
