  • FIT FOR THE LONG RUN
Teamed up with fleece, wool can be a great insulator, slip this Great-Coat into the doss bag, and make it through the ice age...The great coat although not as lightweight as down garments, the great coat still insulates when wet, can be compressed for long periods of time, and is a lot more durable...
Taking these factors in to account, the great coat fits the bill for survival prepping and long term wilderness survival.....

Greatcoats are the best winter coat ever made. I myself own two actually, one from my own countrys military Finnish M36 Greatcoat, and another from Miltec. they are both great and keep me SUPER warm.

I brought one of these fantastic coats recently. Beautifully cut and blue grey colour complete with the Welsh Guards buttons. Fits perfectly and so elegant I can wear it over a suit. Brought mine for £50. Absolute bargain. Great video my friend.

I hadnt seen one of these British single breast greatcoats except in pictures and I have to say Im impressed! I have a Canadian Army overcoat made in 1969 (more a dress coat than the greatcoat but still warm, 100% wool amd heavy) and a Russian greatcoat made in 1991 that is one of my favorite woods coats. No light passes through the heavy Russian wool and although it has some damage from improper storage it still has a ton of life left!

Great video Bex. I like the wool coat and had been looking at them recently but only 3/4 and half length. I'll have to keep this in mind. I did take your advice and got a less expensive hammock to spend some time learning with. Now if it would just stop raining so I could try it out. lol. Anyway, Merry Christmas.

great coats will keep you warm when wet, this is from personal use both in the forces and working life , the main problem these days is cost and size. a search earlier today for a different reason was showing none above 40 chest. ..

Need to incorporate a quality poncho with that great coat. Depending on the size of your pack, the poncho can cover you pack as well.

i agree with your point of view 100% use both. i would say that the modern stuff works better in the wet over wool so keeping it dry is a must although it still works wet the weight increase you will notice and drying it out can be a problem.i see you use the old uk liners have some my self but dont think they are that good have you tried the german ones they fit higher with braces and seem much better(warmer) been down to -20c no problems also do you rock the thermals if so what type

A bit late with this I know, but another reviewer, (Helsinki Pop), did a review of the Finnish Army great-coat, very similar, and arrived at much the same conclusion.

The discussion of wool verses synthetics is a theoretical one. Theories do not keep you warm and dry. The right combination of materials will. Here in Switzerland we have a distinct 4 season climate with both wet and cold conditions. So I can only agree, based on my own experience, that a combination of wool and synthetics is the way to go.
