Self Loathing is Darth Vader known for. Vader realize that He lost his wife and child, the Republic that he defended, Jedi Order that was his family and the Monster he become a slave too. I can't call Sidious a normal Sith lord, there is no heart where it should be within the black spirit of Sidious. Calling Sidious a complete monster is being nice. For Sidious is a monster.

A lot of the time it’s easier to blame others for our problems then to recognize our part in them. Obi-Wan made many notable mistakes throughout his life regarding Anakin and failed to recognize them at their fullest extent even after his physical death, as he still believed that his former student was irredeemable and that his death would save the galaxy.
But that didn’t make Anakin any less responsibility for his own actions.

Mace could never have killed Palpatine. Palpatine was playing with Mace only to lure Anikan to turn.
Palpatine would have used two lightsabers. He was toying with Yoda and Mace. He was laughing the entire fight with Yoda.

Remember, Mace was created just for that movie, so how could he really have been thought through to make since in the Star Wars Universe. Even his sword color was not a real crystal color. In the Revenge of the Sith movie, if you freeze the fight scene where Mace is fighting Palpatine, you will notice that Palpatine already has Anakin's sword in his hand before Anakin even comes in. This means there was intent for Palpatine to use this moment to get him to sympathize. It makes no sense that Mace would need back up if he thought Palpatine was that weak. Palpatine wiped out those other Jedi in seconds. There is no way Mace could have beat Palpatine one on one.
Palpatine was a real problem. Remember he fought Yoda after that and was playing with him.

We know Vaders suit is extremely vulnerable to electrical attacks, this was part of the design laid out by Palpatine so he could control Vader. I don't think Palpatine is that much stronger than Vader but that he exploited the suit's weakness and gives off the illusion that he is more powerful.

Plus, the man had literally twisted his mechanical limbs off and destroyed them. Vader at this time was pretty conflicted, and it's said in Disney Canon that he (Vader) is more powerful. But it's moments like these that make Vader doubt himself and his ability to kill Sidious. Sidious basically created a mental block in Vader's mind and it's Vader's fear of losing against Sidious in a battle that makes him more so not want to try it.

@@jeremykeitt784 I saw a few times a picture from a book that shows the most powerful Sith Lords with Sidious at 2 and Vader at 1. And it’s been stated since Disney took over that after Mustafar, Anakin/Vader became even more powerful. Vader also took the time to study the Force and all 7 lightsaber combat forms, mainly to be able to defeat any Jedi single handedly with ease. I think personally what makes Vader even more powerful than Sidious is that I don’t think he lost that force potential. If midichlorians are in cells, then by my understanding he has 20,000+ per cell. While yes his injuries set him back, Vader’s belief in the Force (and his status as the Chosen One, literally born of the Force) makes him more powerful. He lets nothing get in his way. I’d say the ONLY thing holding him back is his suit. That suit has one fatal flaw has stated by Nobel which is its weakness against Force Lightning. If Sidious wasn’t scared of Vader, why would he put that weakness in the suit?
In a Marvel (I believe it’s Marvel) Comic we all see Vader create a rip in the fabric of the Force and enters a alternate dimension where he defeats all of the Jedi Council members and summons red force lightning, like the Son on Mortis. That potential never left Vader, but I think his fear of the Emperor held him back.
What Vader had was what Anakin needed. Calm, cool, collected measures rather than being so overconfident and brash. Vader was able to logically look at situations and relied a lot more on his force abilities than Anakin did. (Yes Vader can be pretty extra, like standing on top of his TIE Advanced while it descends).

If you recall, when Darth Vader went to bleed his light saber crystal he had a vision of what would happen if he decided to repent from the path he was on (canon). In the vision he slaughtered Palpatine with the green lightsaber he acquired and intended to bleed. Some can only infer that the vision was what would have happened if he finally confronted his master with the intent to end his control over his physical embodiment, and control over his mind. But that never happened, obviously. I’m not sure how it would effect the original trilogy in all honesty. However I think it would be a very humbling experience for Palpatine if a Vader in this state were to approach him, ready to end his life. I’m sure the battle would come to a stale mate. However I’m just hoping for a experience in a comic that’ll instill a great deal of fear in Palpatine, however form that may come.

no one could help darth vader in the way he needed, but in all the sacrifice, in all the fighting, in all the suffering, there was a new chance for darth vader to redeem himself.
he couldnt help ahsoka tano, he couldnt save padme, he fought against his own brother he had loved.
he had lost everything dear to him.

I don't believe he ever wanted redemption. This is clear in his conversation with Luke when he says "It's too late for me now.... my son". He killed the Jedi to grow strong in the dark side to save Padme, he knew it was wrong but was willing to throw himself into evil for her out of real love, when she died and he realised it was all for nothing... that must have torn him apart (which no doubt the emporer preyed upon) until he became so completely broken and void of any sense of self that he saw his continued decline into the darkside not as her salvation but as a self imposed punishment that he had to endure because its what he believed he deserved. In the end he fulfilled his prophecy, he destroyed the Jedi and the Sith and brought balance to the force.

Vader wouldn't be able to kill him but you'd think he would be able to put up a fight after 20 years of growing his power. I hope the reason he was so weak was because of how conflicted he was after Luke refused him and learning about Padme because if not then this is just sad.

We all know that Anakin was a good man who loved his wife and his friends, and would willingly lay down his life in the pursuit of the common good, but he also had moments of rage or fear or hatred which caused him to act immorally. What if we did the opposite for Vader? A remorseless killing machine, the Emperor’s enforcer and the most feared man in the galaxy, who occasionally has moments of...virtue? Maybe he shows mercy to an underling who failed him, or saves the lives of some innocent civilians in the middle of a chaotic battle, or fraternises with Stormtroopers. Seriously you nailed it. My thoughts exactly. This story arc is doing a lot to fill in the gaps to Anakin’s redemption story. It’s clear to me to when Vader told Sidious he lied, it wasn’t Vader saying this but Anakin. Love isn’t a Sith trait, hence why the Emperor destroyed his limbs and tossed him back on mustafar to burn again. In this ironic moment, Anakin not Vader (despite the Sith eyes) realized his great mistake of siding with Sidious. His Sith eyes remained purely for hatred of his master, but his vision of Obi-Wan I think was bitter understanding. I get the sense this issue was Vader in hindsight wishing he had listened to Obi-Wan on mustafar, hell, probably even he wishing he had helped Windu kill Palpatine as well. I’m sure he now realizes had he never gone down this dark path and destroyed Sidious as a Jedi, he could have left the order having fulfilled the prophecy and lived a happy ever life with his wife and son (and leia). I think it’s a good thing he still didn’t know about leia in this moment. I think had he known he also had a daughter, he would have really broken down because of the fact he tortured her not knowing the truth. When he found this out on the second Death Star, I think it was Vader’s realization he needed to show Luke the danger of his anger and to throw the fight. Yes, I think Vader threw the fight. He wasn’t Vader after coming to that realization Leia was his daughter, and I think in that moment as well as Luke’s refusal to kill him were the two biggest things to bring him back. The other, was the holorecording of Padme in child birth saying there was still good in him.

I was at opening day for all three originals. Until I saw Obi-Wan in ep 3, Revenge of the Sith, I thought Darth's injuries were accumulative. We didn't have computers back then. These new series you're sharing brings back those delightful firsts I saw on the big screens. I saw A New Hope in San Francisco at the Castro, with its 50' wide by 24' tall screen. Most of you will never get to see Vader's ship fly over your head, never semming to end & with Dolby Surround Sound, you felt it's rumbling engines, powerful guns thru your entire body...

I think all three Sith Lords from the movies had respect for Obi wan deep down. Darth Maul seem to show emotion to Obi Wan as he was dying asking if Luke is the chosen one and will destroy the sith. Count Dooku respects Obi Wan because Obi Wan was Qui gons apprentice and gave him an option to join him to the dark side.

Anakin’s older brother figure was always meant to be Obiwan.
Qui Gon Jin was always meant to be his father figure.

Palpatine lied about Padme. That alone should have filled Vader with enough hate and rage to fight back and win. Luke was filled with the light side of the force. Yet couldn’t fight Palpatine at all. It seems that Sidious is protected by Sith “plot armor”.
There is no making sense of this comic series in relation to whatever suffices for “SW canon” this month. Since Vader said “I must obey my Master”, then he had no real prior intention or plan to attack Palpatine/Sidious in ROTJ. Sure, Luke getting fried was a motivator, but Vader already had more than enough motivation.
I still hope that we see Vader fight back in the comics - and that Sidious IS fearful of a resurgent Vader by the time of ROTJ.

Vader's only weakness against palpatine is his suit that's palpatine's way to stop vader from defeating him shut down his suit its the reason why he didn't give him limbs like luke got but he forgot just how strong & determined anakin was he is still part of vader if he can survive being completely destroyed on mmustafar twice & come back stronger than ever that is real power like maul before him revenge makes him strong palpatine couldn't survive that pain . If vader learned everything of the dark side he could easily destroy palpatine sith lightning is only a fraction of the power of the force .vader just needed a reminder & someone to fight for. Anakin killed him in the end he was the CHOSEN ONE not REY. Return of the jedi was the final movie in the saga palpatine & vader both gone & Anakin Skywalker back to pass the CHOSEN ONE mantle to his son. Then came the Legends timeline with true Skywalkers. Bring back legends timeline the real timeline for the real fans that kept star wars alive long after the movies

I’m seeing this for the first time and I can’t understand how this does not conflict with canon. When Vader is searching for Luke and discovers Luke has a sister, Vader says “Obi wan was wise to hide her from me. Now his failure is complete.” This line shows Vader still hates Obi Wan or still is angry towards him. Forgiving Obi Wan at any point before that line in ROTJ breaks canon, unless Vader decides to start hating him again.
