well, that would explain his face, that is the face a of man who never sleeps.
We have no reason to suppose that Palpatine didn’t sleep, given his known fatal flaw.
Palpatine’s clearly observable fatal flaw that he displayed many times in canon- is that he is unduly confident in his own abilities and arrogant.
Palpatine always assumed that he had perfect control of every situation at his command, and that was how he behaved.
That is why he never saw it coming when Darth Vader turned on him in moment.
Palpatine arrogantly believed he was in such perfect control that Vader would never do a thing like that. He even shared that belief with Luke and told him as much.
This wasn’t just a one time miscalculation on Palpatine’s part either.
His history in canon shows that this was a mistake he often made.
Palpatine nearly blew it for himself whenever he decided to let on to Anakin that he was Darth Sidious in Episode III.
Palpatine took that risk because of his very arrogant overconfidence in how much control he had of the world around him.
If Anakin had shown up even a moment later for his duel with Windu- that miscalculation would have cost Palpatine everything.
My guess is that Palpatine would have slept secure in his false belief that he was a master controller of everything around him.
It was an actual flaw with him. A character weakness.
So Jocasta "knew" about everything, except for the pesky Sith Shrine below the Jedi Temple that clouded the the Jedi's foresight around the Phantom Menace and his plans.
And many many many things she didn't know as well.
Its probably more about the knowledge of the Archive's from the Jedi and some things from the ancient Sith
not necessarily about the temple in and of itself, anything Sidious thought Jocasta knew about the temple was probably not much, the problem Sidious saw in Jocasta was the ancient knowledge
She knew everything.... except when she didn't.

Vader could have extracted her brain into a droid, learned every secret of the Jedi without Sidious suspecting and repurposed their power to topple his master. He would probably learn more than the sum of the archives, since I imagine the head archivist would have some secrets that were only orally passed on.

Jocasta Nu was wise. She was the keeper of knowledge. That might very well mean keeping knowledge *safe*, and out of the enemy's hands, even if it means destroying it. That's the whole reason a wipeout code existed.

But that wasn't the ONLY list of force sensitive children though, what about the Holocron that Endo Cardova hid in the Bogano Vault sometime before 14 BBY and that Cal Kestis found later on? Even though he destroyed that list as well, it means that Jocasta wasn't the ONLY one that had knowledge of these children and that the list from Corosant wasn't the only list. There could still be others.
That feeling when you realize lists of force sensitive children is just a McGuffin. There will always be another list.
I'm late to this comment, but Jocasta Nu copied that list specifically for Cordova. He foresaw the fall of the Jedi Order, and she was the only Council member who took his vision seriously.

All this hard work and the efforts of the rebellion and Luke Skywalker just undermined for the sequels. That’s another reason why I don’t see them as canon
Edit: another reason is the sequels really are weak stories with plain characters. The only really relatable character in the entire sequel trilogy is Kylo, because he fails and grows unlike Rey who succeeds at everything

I'm gonna say it the sequel trilogy should have been about the reemerging of the jedi order. They could have even brought palp back if liked but it should have been about the jedi reform.
Bringing palp back ruins anakins redemption though. Bringing balance to the force, being the chosen one meant destroying sidious.

I dont know, i like the version where she is killed by vader in the deleted scene from episode 3. It makes the most sense.
It also seems strange that, a copy of said force sensitive children seemed to exist, as Eno Cordova seemed to take it with him and then hide it among the Zeffo ruins. Only for Cal Kestis to retrieve it, and destroy it, fearing that attempting to restart the jedi school with the empire in power would only lead to more death and dark jedi.

Now I know the basis for Luke’s saying in “The Last Jedi”: “To say that if the Jedi die, the light dies is vanity.” Not having read the “Vader” series, at least I know it has a basis in Star Wars canon.
Sideous was afraid of Jocasta Nu because he had an overdue library book.
I love how much Jocasta scared Palpatine & to an extent even Vader. The fact that Vader lacked the foresight to realize Palpatine would have replaced him with those children highlights the importance of the Consular type Jedi in the grand scheme of things. Obviously all the Jedi are/were important, but those who sought knowledge (of the Force, Jedi/Sith, galaxy, etc.) were very valuable indeed. For they posses the memes to rebuild the order.

Jocasta is by far the most insidious and dangerous Jedi of them all. Not because she’s utterly skilled, which we all know not to be the case, oh no, rather because she was hand picked to look over (with full permissions) a millenia old archive of knowledge on both sides of the force. That woman alone could probably raise the next Jedi order AND the next sithlord >just for funsies< if she so wanted, and that’s what’s truly scary about her.
