- Trains on Baishan City's (ex-Hunjiang) 762mm gauge iron ore railway. Baishan lies approximately 30 kilometers west of the North Korea border. Two lines run from the processing plant in a northerly direction to the mines. Each of these quarries also has its own 600mm gauge feeder system. The 762mm gauge lines use a 750 volt DC overhead power supply for the locomotives. A stunning line, especially in autumn colors with friendly crews and fairly high traffic levels.
Video was reuploaded due to an editting fault in the first version. I have included footage of the cab ride on our second day here.
You can read more about this line on my recent trip report :

I thought recording any railways or industrial plants in China or even travelling outside of main cities can get you in troubles for espionage etc?
It is possible for certain locations to be heavily guarded, the most common industry type being around the steel mills and chemical plants, however a lot of these instances have been relaxed for a good 10 - 15 years. In my experience, I would always make friends with the local crews and factory workers, showing them photos from the trains in my country. I travelled to China annually (sometimes bi-annually!) and I was never refused at a location to take photos. The only time the police arrived was more of a curiosity to make sure I wasn't doing anything silly and that was while lineside on the national network near Zhengzhou.
