Mel take my hat off to you. Your attention to detail and methodical approach is evident in your workmanship. Really enjoying this video series can't wait to see the finished result.
Good afternoon Mel and becci I hope you are all well and enjoying building your new campervan I love watching your videos of you building your new campervan please keep up the good work up on your videos on your you tube channel please keep safe and warm
each job is a step further to the finish line, keep up the good work. i wish i had your know how when i started my build. you really make me want to get my tools out and start doing adjustments to my Vario
Great video. That was a great come up on eBay. Personally, I would scrub out a brand new fresh water tank. Factories can be filthy with oils and shavings from the machines and materials. A used tank could have chemicals, dirt, mold or mildew anything really and I would definitely give it a thorough cleaning for peace of mind.
I’d want to use seat belt webbing to hold that tank. It’s 190kg and in an accident you know a seat belt is designed to hold that sort of weight and not break. Those ratchet straps don’t do well with a shock of sudden force on them. Just an idea and you can buy the seat belt webbing probably for less money than those ratchet straps
Just looking at your floors up you seem to have a surplus of space under the floor, so numerous tanks there rather one huge tank plus spread the weight over the weight ! You have lost floor space which is at a premium in a van! The old Dart hasn’t had any droughts laterally? Thought of a bladder on the roof to catch your frequent showers of rain that are around your country? 😂 Cheers
Thanks Raymond I’m quite aware of what I’m doing and I actually have 5 tanks under my floor 2 x 40Lt Grey water tanks 1 x 25 Lt hot water tank 1 x 20Lt Diesel tank for heating the water the van and cooking 1 x 300 Lt fuel tank Plus 3x Air tanks for the air brakes Hence no room for my 190Lt freshwater tank 👍
@@BigVanSmallWorld did I mention to you that you don’t need a tank for your hot water! They have small hot water on demand that is the size of your hand???
Hi Mel what a bit of luck getting a tank that size for a good price , was thinking the fridge conversion video was dropping next oh well maybe the next one
Nice tank! It looks strong. Two things, if you don't mind me suggesting: Firstly, the overflow hole/line from the top of the tank needs to have a bigger diameter than the filler hose. The filler hose is usually 15mm. I learned this from my own mistake; if filling the tank unattended, it will allow water to overflow instead of creating a restriction. Secondly, (if you haven't done this already) you will need silicone between the filler and the van's outside wall. Rain will always find a way in. Is there a manual drain to empty the tank, or would you have to use the pump to empty it? I had a 24mm manual drain with a valve on mine, so I don't have to use the pump, and it is a lot quicker. I quite enjoy watching and learning from your videos. Thank you."
the 2ltr customs are a wet belt they breakdown and block the oil pick up strainer starving your engine of oil should have kept the chain.Dont take any notice of fords service times i change my oll every 6k and use ford oil and filters the new transporter is going over to a wet belt system to.Roger.
We didn't want that option as we will be using the shower for washing diving kit and cleaning off metal detectors - don't want to shower with that same water on our bodies for weeks on end.

Like the PPE ha ha😊

Top job,and what a bargain 👌
Thanks ☺️
Love watching your vids Mel and your build of your new van. Carnt wait to see it all dun . R you going to fit swivel sites in your lovely van Mel
Thank you I’m still undecided about the seats 💺
Hi Mel what a bit of luck getting a tank that size for a good price , was thinking the fridge conversion video was dropping next oh well maybe the next one
Coming soon!
Wouldn’t use ratchet straps I’d make two metal straps bolted down like they do on hgv fuel tanks much safer coz that’s a lot of weight when full
That’s a good idea thank you
I reckon that shower decision was based on; Becky - Nookie - Refusal - Grounds? - Smelly!! 😂🤣😂🤣😜
Mel and his dead spider 😆😆😆. Btw Mel, when did Becky change her van? And why? 🤔
2 years ago
Great vlog Mel 👍 👌
Be safe 👍
Thank you! You too!
Do you need to insulate the tank? It will contain a large volume of cold water that could have a negative effect on your ability to heat the van.
Na it will be fine you will see in a later video how I’m running my diesel heater
👍 don’t know how far behind you are with your vids Mel but VFL is one month away, I hope you get on Vario street. 😀
Unfortunately CZcamsrs are not welcome at the van life festival anymore because the organisers don’t want them there
Don't worry Mel..spiders don't drink much 😂🤪😂

if fitting a manual drain, 24mm drain hose and fittings are cheap from fish ponds suppliers.
Thanks that’s really helpful
the holes seen on the tank were there already from the previous owner of the tank. Mel will need to cut new or change them to fit the van.
@@SACREDTRAVELLER Yes this was mentioned in the video.
👍👍👍🏴
Have you seen the recent ford issues with the engine wet belts ? Does Beckies van have a wet belt system as its a bit concerning ?
the 2ltr customs are a wet belt they breakdown and block the oil pick up strainer starving your engine of oil should have kept the chain.Dont take any notice of fords service times i change my oll every 6k and use ford oil and filters the new transporter is going over to a wet belt system to.Roger.
You probably won't need bigger straps, check the weight rating on the blue tags, if there's none on the tags then do get straps with weight ratings.
Thanks ☺️
I may not be the first person to ask but, what's happening to Mary when you're finished the Vario..?
Mel, how come you didn’t cut it from the outside, where you could of cut it higher
It’s all good works great 👍
Wow! a youtuber using PPE ... trhats a first
And?
Have you been to spec savers lately Mel?
No why do you ask?
U cud do with getting some holecutters
Yeah 👍
I am surprised that you did not go for a recirculating shower system. As 45litres lasts for weeks.
We didn't want that option as we will be using the shower for washing diving kit and cleaning off metal detectors - don't want to shower with that same water on our bodies for weeks on end.
To expensive for me mate
Mel r you going to fite a Logbruner in your big big van. Dragonfly.
I was going to but we have a problem with where’s the best place to put it
Not sure of the singing mate
Ops I was meant to edit that out lol 😂
200 kg mel best place for that mate
Thanks
190 KG 418lbs :o
29 stone, or 6,688 ounces! Back to metric 190,000 grams. Now what?
My van is a 7.5 ton HGV with a payload of 5.6 ton so hardly worth worrying about 190k lol 😂
Bit of a waste of water😭
Really? I us much less water than some one living in a house
Your vario is 7.5 tonne just wondering what your payload is ??
Great question it’s 5600 kg
Most tanks over 30 litres have baffels, also its only unlimited supply if you connect to a mais supply , so quit the foolish click bait headings.
My tank has got baffles if you bothered to watch the video in full
