    I will record Kevin's voice instead of music. Your voice is just so clear and easy to understand. Audacity and OBS are probably the best free apps out there that do almost everything you want it to do. The only Window that I will never close is the Windows operating system. Great video.

      But if you use Obs it'll convert into a clip where sound is played so it isn't actually a recording?

    Lifesaver!!! Amazing. First option worked. Didn't have "voice recorder" application but I do have "audacity". Put headphones on and voila! Magnificent! Thank you!

    Stunning Thumbnail Kevin! I thought this needed third-party software, to record the audio then import the audio, and trimming it to get the final result. But you've made it so easy! Enjoyed the video, thank you so much, Kevin!

    Configuring StereoMix on Windows 10 looks completely different on my PC than shown here. Your tutorials are excellent so I hate to ask you to do more work. While most of us are sticking with or can't upgrade to Win11 we need both the Win10 and Win11 versions when changes need to be made using Setings. Keep up the excellent tutorials, always clear and easy to follow. Thanks.

      Neil Muller I was considering saying the same thing. I really appreciate Kevin's work! But ... finding these features within these two operating systems is a completely different experience for me as well, as I am also on Windows 10 still.

      I had to update my audio driver in device manager to fix mine.

      @@tyrant351 Well... If it's like a job for the video's creator, sure. But most of time people are doing such things just because they want/like, so in the end it's *us* that should search in another place. I'm sure there are other videos in Windows 10 or even 7 if it's the case, or even text explanation.

    Opting for audacity as the sound card configuration on windows I was on at the time didnt support the first option and settled on that. Audacity is a fantastic tool as is this video a brilliant one. Thanks for your excellent contributions to the interwebs Kevin, your a star.

    This is FANTASTIC!! I already had Audacity on my system and I went with that. I have videos that people have sent me where they are really just people talking. I want to be able to listen while I walk the dogs and now I can. Thank you SOOOOOOOO much!!!

    Wow, Thanks a ton. I was looking for how to record just the audio of a CZcams video other than downloading and trimming and you have given me three of the best approaches, Kevin. I know about Audacity and I have watched your tutorial but I haven't downloaded it yet. I didn't know about VB audio at all. Thanks again and I'm also wrapping up on this comment.

    Thank you. Been having the worst time trying got make stereo mix work on new Windows 11 device. Installed Realtek codec which fixed the issue but this then stopped my headphones from working properly. This is a nice simple work-around.

    Great video, thanks! I have one question though. Does anyone know if any of these 3 methods records the digital stream directly, or is the music converted to analog audio through the DAC, then back to digital again, probably with sound loss? Thanks in advance.

    Thanks so much. The steps in the first 2 minutes solved it for me. I have an old program recording (Cool Edit 2000) and it connected so easily once you told me what to do.

    Thanks for another great video. I have tried the first to methods. Works very well. But the volume of the sound is much lower than what I am hearing while recording the sound.
    I have set the stereo mix volume to 100%
