UHF is solid GOLD ! Thanks Al for putting up with me getting autographs & picture after a concert. I’m blown away at how generous Al is with fans like me.
Never had any personal experience with Al, but I can say your description fits Gabriel Iglesias. He spent nearly an extra hour and 30 minutes, having the crowd call out their favorite jokes that he didn't get to that night, and did _so many_ of them he was like, "Oh, man, _they're _*_never_* gonna invite me back, yo!" Left early, so I didn't get to see him during the signing of stuff, but he's definitely one of those I would put up on the list of "awesome funny dudes," right alongside Al Yankovich
@@landonletterman831 Reminds me of when I saw Jeff Dunham. Achmed kept falling apart, unintentionally. Jeff rolled with it, making for some funny unscripted moments. Rest in Peace Kevin McCarthy (February 15, 1914 - September 11, 2010). Al, you could not have possibly chosen a better actor to play what I consider to be the all-time best evil-greedy-big-business executive-type villain to ever be portrayed on film. Kevin was so hilariously over the top with his performance and looked like he was having lots of fun in every scene he played. Thank you Al for giving us UHF, even if it wasn’t as financially successful as it should have been.
I did a double take on seeing the name (I knew the face, but I'm hopeless at remembering actors' names). The date of his passing had me very confused until I realised who you were actually talking about, not just wishful - figuratively only, of course - speaking about a certain politician!
@Walnut_Animations How I tend to remember it being a penny is he gives it away saying "Don't spend it all in one place" which _he_ believes is a joke because a penny being the smallest unit of currency _must_ be spent in one place by its very nature.
I live in between Las Vegas and Los Angeles. I worked at a restaurant in the late 80s and one day, this man came in who looked extremely familiar. The instant I saw him, I knew exactly who he was. He was Kevin McCarthy, but I didn't know his name. What came to mind was Invasion of the Body Snatchers. He was alone and looking like he just wanted to be anonymous. The only thing I did was look at him, he looked at me and I mouthed "Are you him?" and he smiled and nodded. I'll never forget that little moment. :)
Best movie ever. Show this to a potential partner during the first date. If they don't already know the movie by heart, or it's their first time watching it and it doesn't change their life instantly, you *must* kick them out of your house/apartment/tiny home/car. Then reverse the VCR tape and watch it again, knowing that you just dodged a bullet.
My 11 year old son and I played out this whole bit just today and it brought me more joy than a Rolex ever could…thank you for making one of my favorite and now my son’s favorite comedy of all time #u62forever
To everyone in the comments section: I wish we could all gather together in a big ol' movie theater and watch this movie together! It would be epic fun!
Thank you for the gift of this film (I'll have you know I was one of the seven people who saw it in a theater!), so now that I'm a father my two kids cringe and brace themselves every time I pick up a spatula. Oh, and for Pamela Finkelstein.
Classic. I've seen this movie more times than any other over the course of my life... probably hundreds, without exaggeration. My brother and I watched it frequently as kids, to the point of memorization. It will always be a treasured favorite.
I love how at the end he keeps getting so much comeuppance, like getting his TV license revoked, getting humiliated by Fran Drescher, and having the bum show him the Rolex he wanted!
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched this movie and loved every second of it. I can remember me and my brothers quoting this scene hundreds of times even months or even years after the last time we watched it.
Happy Father's day, daaaaaaad. One of the funniest lines in all of Cinema. I love UHF, I've seen it probably twice a year since it came out! When is UHF 2 coming out? I would love to see what happened to all those excellent characters
Ah Al, thank you for reminding us of this legendary masterpiece. You and the gang worked really hard on it, and it's still a much beloved film in my family, that's for sure. "They're not here for you, Frank, they're here for Weird Al."
My favorite part of UHF is Spatula City. My favorite music peice was the unused in the movie but included in the OST "Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota". I'm 90% certain that the family from Spatula City advert was going to be the same family depicted in the song. And that the one small section of the kids jumping up and down in the back seat was the single section of the filming for that music video left in the film before the rest of it was cut out entirely.
Dear Al, here in Germany not many people (sadly) know you. But as young lads at least we watched this movie (German dub) at least a hundred times, and even today we still quote lines from it! It's one of the best comedies ever made in my personal humble opinion!!
Kevin McCarthy is so scene stealing in this. Every scene he seems to be having an absolute blast of a time. RJ Fletcher is such a slimy ridiculous character I imagine he must have had so much fun bringing it to life on screen.
I always loved the fact that there was nothing stopping him from buying a Rolex for himself
He's cheap.
Not when he has the opportunity for someone to buy it for him. XD
It’s the thought that counts.
I don't think it was entirely about the Rolex itself...
Déjà vu.

Closest I got was being a few seats away from him sitting on someone's lap in the audience. Still was a glorious day.
You gave autographs and pictures to Weird Al Yankovic!?
Why is it that male celebrities are less scandalous than female ones?
