Weird Al for me growing up in the 80's was a reminder to always have fun. To not take oneself too seriously. I subscribe to this today and it's saved me a world of pain through the years as well as helped develop my own sense of humor. I had a hard Father (still do, but he's older and more tired now) and the notion of keeping things as light as possible, especially during dark times, molded my abilities to tell myself jokes and push through.
