I would like to own an electric bike but definitely dont want them replacing the internal combustion engine.
It's not to replace the internal combustion engine it's to supplement and open riding areas such as indoor Arenas in the city add urban areas where noise complaints have shut down all of the riding areas and made it illegal to ride

i thought of that too.
with so much torque and horse power that bike could be more risky or dangerous. with such little sound it makes the rider less able to judge how fast going without loud engine roarin. also, even more likely it could be more risky to something like another rider or person walking or in another vehicle not hearing the super fast electric bike zooming up on them etc

I grew up on 2-Strokes, was an early adopter to 4-strokes, and now I am all about the electric bikes. They're fun, reliable, fast, very easy to customize the power, and you're not pissing nearly as many people off. I'm always going to love a gas motor but I don't think there's any denying the many benefits of electric bikes. It's just a matter of time before they start winning Supercross.
The performance capabilities are crazy. When battery and motor tech start progressing, watch out.

The Stark is being pushed hard with lots of publicity lately, but everyone talks like the thing is never going to break. The electric motor or drivetrain must get trashed eventually with 80HP. How much is a new motor for one of these? How much is a spare battery.
It must eat tyres, brakes and chain/sprockets. Stark is only a smallish outfit so i imagine parts might be hard to get and expensive if you damage anything.
I live in the UK and many tracks are closed. They use the noise excuse, but the main reason is that as soon as a bit of real estate is built near a track, whoever ends up living there don't want a motocross track nearby. Even if it was electric bikes only track, the people living there will always find a reason to stop it. It's got more to do with greed and real estate values than anything.
An old motocross track in the middle nowhere soon becomes valuable building land when they start building property nearby.
What makes more money for the greed machine?, a local motocross track or a plot that you can build a load of houses on, sell them for millions and tax the hell out of the people that live in them? The tracks lose every time.
The current agenda is working on everyone not owning anything or having any fun at all, electric or otherwise.
The UK authorities hate dirtbikes and anyone of any age out riding a dirtbike or old motorcycle on some wasteland is considered a criminal. They are working really hard in the UK to stop folks having fun, especially on dirtbikes and Sur ron type bikes.
They will seize your bike and crush it if you get caught more than once.
You wouldn't like it here Kap. Just ripping up and down the road outside your yard like you are in this video would get the police straight on your case. They would charge you for no tax, no insurance, no MOT, no licence plate and any other other offences they can think of....it's shit. You can't even take a young child out somewhere quiet on a Yamaha PW50 without someone moaning or calling the police. It has happened many times to me and my friends children over the years. I got an ASBO warning at 40 years old, just for being on an old abandoned airfield with the kids playing on PW50s and pitbikes. The 3 and 7 year old kids could never understand why the police were stopping them having some family fun. This in turn breeds a dislike for authority in children from a very early age. It's messed up here where dirtbikes are concerned. They hate any dirtbikes, electric or otherwise. Unless you are into club motocross or enduro stuff, you are considered a criminal. Just like some parts of America, the UK was once a great place to be, but that is now long gone.

We jus ride em, 4wheelers n bikes thru the woods, thru town, where ever . Of course it is illegal and frowned upon... But only illegal if ya get caught. Im not sayin eryone shud do this.. but i myself have became *ungovernable* so i no longer have n e fuks left to give.

@@_-gh0st-_ Appreciate the comment. The UK is way smaller than the US and like i said, dirtbikes are a way of life in your country and have been for many years. It's not the same in the UK. I do still ride my dirtbikes and i have a really nice and pretty tricked out '94 Honda XR600 to play on. I also have a custom Kawasaki W800 that has been given the old 60's Triumph/BSA scrambler treatment. These are my babies!
We do have the UK bike life scene here which is similar to the US bikelife scene but much smaller, which is usually small groups of people on MX bikes ripping up the towns and cities and there's plenty of youtube footage of the UK bikelife scene. These groups never last long though and most of them get caught in the end due to the police going after them hard with all their resources including helicopters if need be. It's strange because in the UK if you are the victim of any other crime, the police are nowhere to be seen and tell you they haven't got the resources or evidence. The police here also seem to look after the child molesters rather than punish them. That what happens when most of the powerful people in government, police and authorities are paedophiles themselves. It's been shit here since the eighties as far as motorcycle culture and the acceptance of dirtbikes goes. I was born in the wrong country🙁

@@_-gh0st-_ Greed and corruption is everywhere and when you look into it, it's the same people at the top of it in the US and the UK. George Bush and Tony Blair are a good example. Both should be rotting in jail but its quite the opposite.
I used to have an 1990 XR250 and remember struggling to get a decent header for it. XR400 and XR600 stuff is easier to find over here. I had the header for my XR600 made by a guy in Greece and he sent it to the UK. It was about £150, which is around $200. I would have thought FMF or XRs Only would stock a header for your bike. I've bought stuff from XRs only in the past but the import taxes from US to UK are seriously expensive. If you did find a cheap header pipe in the UK, the import taxes would probably be too expensive to make it worthwhile. Ebay is the best source of XR parts for me in the UK, but you probably have better XR parts sources in USA.
If your XR250 is 1997 or later, i think an XR400 header might fit it if you can get one of those. I'm not 100% on that though, but I've heard that it fits the 250.

@@_-gh0st-_Currently in southern AZ and you can ride dirt bikes,4 wheelers and side by sides on the street, no helmet even required. This is mostly to cater to us snowbirds as a way of getting around once camp is set up and the motorhome is parked.
I took my 450 on the pavement ONCE.. never again. Knobbies are frightening on pavement.. i cant imagine how much worse they are when everything is frozen. You guys are bonkers lol

I'm 2 stroke til I die and out of the many bikes I've owned I've only ever had one 4 stroke (Yamaha WR) so I was really sceptical about electric, however I recently got a good deal on a small electric Mx bike for my daughter and it's been one of the best bike purchases I've ever made, no engine sound means we can ride on the fields near my house and nobody knows we're there, there's also no hot parts when she has a crash and a full charge costs considerably less than a full tank of petrol plus no oil or filters🤷🏼♂️
That age old question now, does it stay charged more then a hour, how long does it give 80 horse...I'm still not sold on electric machines...
And how much $$???

@@johndaviddoesmith4504 a lot.... then if you keep / use it long enuf replacement batts are a lot. but with gas there is maintence oo or, a worse case scenario of blowin the engine the have to rebuild or get new one... it all depends and have to decide what want or whats best for you
@@adamgriffith6750the cost of a 4 stroke rebuild is probably half of a battery cost. There is really nothing to a 2 stroke. Worst case scenario you need to sleeve the jug or replace crank bearings. Cost way less than a battery. Once battery costs come down it will be game over.

Noooooo!! Ken I'm 52 years old now and I can't watch the death of the thumpers my heart is permanently broken from the death of the 2 stroke. I'm saddened by the fact that the youth can never experience a motocross race with 2 strokes and especially the open class. The sound,the smell, and the thunder is the entire reason for motocross!! Thumpers were always trail bikes it's why they were created and I love XRs. I cannot go along with the electric bikes and I never will sorry and I'm sorry for the youth

I'm not sure where you live but where we are the two stroke Reigns Supreme we sold more Two Strokes than any gas gas dealer in the world over the last 2 years 500 CC 2 Strokes than any other company on the planet over the last 10 years by a long shot race in New England like the Jay day series it is 70% 2 Strokes

Everything evolves. 2 strokes are now silent, the SRT dodge challenger use to be 425hp, the new base model coming is 455hp and the top dog is 1350hp and runs 8's

No disrespect to you but the vast majority of these new regulations that I hear about are in NY and CA. I live in Georgia and we have no such issues that I have seen. I will ride my two stroke 250 for as long as I can. It would be terrible if all riding and supercross became electric. It would be even worse if we ALLOW it to happen. Look at Formula 1. They have an electric series and the gas series. The electric one is no where near as popular as the gas one. I am sure these electric bikes have a lot of power. The problem is in supercross the bikes already have too much power. There is no need for more power.
I so miss my vintage 125's that would eat newer power valved 250's! The old 125's were just go if ya kept them on the pipe. They were actually great in the woods if knew how to run them. Slip the clutch n keep the r's up n couldn't stop them. It's like the big block verses small block. Top end wins.

Honestly, I am 50, riding since 12, , can't wait for to be able to afford an electric trail bike some day. Reality, the future is only going to be more restrictive, we can enjoy electric until batteries become illegal and exercise/sports are banned due to oxygen consumption.

But how far can you ride that thing compared to 2-stroke? And when the battery dies you gotta pay more for a new one then what it is worth.

We sold more gas gas 125 two-strokes than anybody in the United States of America and for the last 10 years running have sold more 500 by a long shot over anyone on the planet we sure as hell ain't getting rid of our two strokes but we will Embrace this new technology to open up riding areas that have been completely shut down combustion engines

Great video. I’m glad to see you guys test this bike. There are other videos of this bike out there, but nobody has the experience your team has. I have to reluctantly agree that this is the future of off road riding. Keep the great videos coming fellas.
E Bikes, I admit I dont know much about them, also the idea just kind of makes my blood run the opposite direction, But I am warming up to them, still would like the motors to look * more like gas motors ( maybe impossible to do that ) and able to modify/improve them with bolt on parts like traditional Dirt Bikes. But ,more choices of power sports toys cant go wrong with that.
Wish list, regarding this E Bike 1. Put it on a Dyno 2. Use this motor to Build an ATC 3 wheeler with extended swing arm and paddle tires take it to Glamis.

, I've been following electric dirt bikes since the BRD REDSHIFT in 2011, that became Alta and only a few where made before the firm changed hands and funding was lost, that was a mad enough bike, the Stark is something else !
patiently waiting for the $1500 knock offs in about a year, the stark is simply too much bike for my abilities and buying one would be a waste
do something to help me get over this----- place some honda cr 500 decals on it, ill feel better. on the other hand, its hard not to want to ride it with that much torque and speed. the $$ price is probley shocking !!! well done video.

I think it's awesome I have ridden a Surron with front fender off on rail trails made for bicycles and walkers. Nobody really noticed and rode the street right past a police car although I was nervous on that one.

What's really impressive is how good the bike is being the first iteration. Stark had pro's helping develop it over like five years. They've achieved something pretty phenomenal.

🐝🏁 The lithium ion battery was invented around 1976. I bought my first new dirt bike in 1975 and was a TM 100. I thought i was fast. Years went by and i rode a lot of bikes my 1990 kx 500 i bought new best bike i ever had. The only problem i had with the 500 was i exploded the clutch basket. Because of the aluminum centers in the basket. Now im riding electric and youre right they are the future i told people that a long time ago. No gas on your hands no fumes to smell. All torch and no gears to shift. I love the new video you put out. E- POWER

The greatest thing about these things is how cheap it is to operate. This could bring back privateer riders and make racing affordable again. No expensive motor rebuilds valves,cylinders,pistons,cranks exc. Seems like it's just consumables, brakes,chain, sprockets and tires.

When I bought my 1991 CR500 and didn't feel like taking it out to the riding spot I'd just sit on it and run it because I love the noise. I just bought a 2001 CR250 a week ago, it's been in a storage container for the past decade or so, still has the original tires and they look brand new.

If the battery range wasn't an issue, the Varg could be the ultimate mountain snow bike, as high elevation doesn't affect it, and it has stupid power. I rented a KTM 450 SX snow bike in Vail, elevation was 10K and up. That poor rental got ridden like a rental, it was pinned a lot as we were in deep powder, if ya tipped over you were pretty much chest deep and screwed! It was super fun, but that poor 450 was under a lot of stress, there is no way I'd bolt a snow bike conversion onto a machine I care about 😆
We also rented a Polaris 800 powder sled, even at 11K elevation, the power that 2 stroke twin put out was of the insane eye flattening ski lifting variety - absolutely bonkers. If ya want a silly amount of power in a compact package, look to the snowmobile world...
This is awesome!!! I just wish that they were cheaper, I have seen some Surrons that I like, I might even try to save up for one, just to have something that I can ride that won't annoy the neighbors, but nothing will ever replace the smell of fresh premix though, but iam glad to see that you guys are on board with the electric dirt bikes, that bike looks like a BLAST to ride! That crash was knarly though, hopefully he wasn't hurt badly, thanks for the awesome video guys 👍👌
If everything fun is being "cracked down on" or flat-out outlawed, the only avenues for kids with energy to burn is deliquency or drugs. This is getting insane. My issue with a rechargable dirtbike is - How long does it take to recharge? Dealing with that factor as an adult is way different than dealing with it as a kid.
