Incredibly Fun bike I ever have owned in my life riding all over the US and Canada. You can put it in 10hp mode and my little 16yo sister can ride it when we went camping and on one trail deer didn't care she was riding right next to them out in the woods. I'm 6'2" or 188cm 220lbs with gear on and it's a rocket on the track.

    I am a researcher and experimentor and i absolutely love the technology on this bike!
    there’s a company called gbatteries that can fast charge off the shelf lithium batteries in under ten minutes (approximately 15 years of successful testing completed), even larger batteries such as those that are in electric vehicles.
    it would be awesome if this motorcycle company could team up with gbatteries or make their own version of this low resistance fast charging system.

    I like a lot about the SV, the different power settings, from 10hp to 80hp, the never do a top end rebuild, the never buy gas or oil, and mix it, all the savings on maintenance, no muffler to replace with a better one, and on and on, all that is great.
    But I do have a couple big problems, the riding time on a charge, and the charging times. I saw a range test where a top mx rider rode one on an mx track pretty hard at 60hp and it went from 100% charge to 10% charge in 1 hour. Then it took 2.5 hours to charge it back up to 100%, which is way too long for me. If they can get that charge time from 10% to 100% in 30 minutes, that would be ok with me.
    I just can not see riding it for 1 hour, then waiting 2.5 hours to ride it again for 1 hour, you would be sitting at your truck all day just to get 2 hours riding time, that is ridiculous, and something nobody in these videos do not seem to want to talk about.
    One other problem I have is the life of the battery, and the cost to buy a new one. I saw that SV says the battery is good for 500 hours, and then you have to buy a new one, for $7,000, from SV of course. So you pay $14k for the bike, then every 500 hours you have to drop $7,000 for a new battery, no thanks.
    1) The charging time is way too long.
    2) The $7,000 battery every 500 hours is ridiculous.
    If they can ever get the charging time down to 30 minutes to do an 90% charge, and get the new battery down to say $2,000, they will will have a winning product, until then I just do not see myself buying one.
    And one last thing, when you pay $14k for a dirt bike, it's not that big of a deal that they give you a fancy $300 took kit with it. You act like they are giving us a one ounce gold bar for buying the bike, it's just a took kit in a fancy box.

      It's usually the last 20% of charging that takes the longest. So you can probably go again after 30-40 min.
      I dont know about you, but if a pro rider can rip this machine full blast for 60 min, then I know I would need a break before the bike does.
      With that said, I have no idea what kind of rider you are or on what level you ride.

    Nice vid! Please tell people that you should NEVER LEAVE YOUR BATTERY CHARGED FOR MORE THAN 1-1.5DAYS. To keep it happy it should be 35-55% when stored for more than a day or two.
    Otherwise the inner resistance of the battery will start to go up and performance/range will be lost. So wierd that all rc toys have storagemode on almost every charger these days but no ebikes have it.

      I wondered the same. I imagine the phone is primarily for adjusting settings. So if it breaks in a crash when out riding, you wouldn't be stranded. Just curious how robust it is in typical MX crashes. Hopefully replacing isn't mega expensive and probably will have options later for covering the screen to keep it protected more I'm sure.

    • @abpob6052
      @abpob6052 Před 8 měsíci

      Rotating mass in the engine (on different axis) act like a gyro making the bike want to assume an upright position when the engine is rotating. 4strokes have a crank and valve train all rotating in line with the frame. 2strokes only have the crank. So 4strokes are more difficult to lay over into turns, especially slow turns, because of the rotating valve train is high in the frame. The electric motor will be low in the frame and will have reduced gyro effect (unless it spins really really fast, I'm not sure about that)

    • @dansacco1964
      @dansacco1964 Před 8 měsíci

      @@abpob6052 interesting. I knew there was some gyro effect I just didnt understand why it would prefer the direction of vertical. The stark motor would be small rotating mass and likely high rpm. It appears to have a single stage gear reduction.

    I think this is going to be" the wave of the future. " This is a great first attempt but as we all know its lacking in range. Most dirt bikes see more offroad time than track time so range (miles ridden) and time are the most important factors. The next important thing will be is it reliable. All this electronic gadget, trickery, wizardry works well on paper, but when put in production electronic parts fail and there is no telling when a sensor or controller or circuit board will let go . Can these electrical components handle the pounding and vibrations a dirt bike is subject to? I believe the biggest mistake Stark Varg made is that the battery is not easily changeable. Think power tools, I can change the battery on my Dewalt tools in seconds. I'm interested but the bike needs more refinement, and honestly being that this is a new manufacturer, I'll wait and see if they survive. I' m probably more likely to buy an electric dirtbike from the legacy manufacturers Yamaha, Honda, KTM ect... due to their history, engineering and financial strength. I ride out in the desert with my friends. We do 30-60 mile loops 3-4 hours at a time. The Stark Varg at the moment wont work for me. In closing I want to make a few suggestions. 1. It needs a quick change battery. 2. It needs more range. 3. It needs to weigh less than the current 4 strokes. 4. It should cost less than a current 4 stroke 5. I shouldn’t have to clip in my phone. I should be able to program 3 modes of power of my choosing and be able to select with a simple push of a button, in addition it needs a light to indicate your at 10% power left or whatever reserve percentage you choose. I'm interested but not ready to purchase. For now I'll stick with my 20yo KX500 which has never let me down or left me walking.

    Of course they can afford to “give“ you tools when the bike is so overpriced, they charging 7k us for the battery alone...

      stark varg is a cool idea, but it is way overpriced, of course they are willing to give you tools and a phone and whatever, but nowhere a battery costs 7k and it all shouldn't be 14k, its too much, anyways, it must be awesome to have one

    how can we take it serious. If you only road it for 30 seconds. you have fiqured everything out about the bike in 30 secs. How it handles, how light it is how it corners. LOL really. Your absolutely amazing. What color are my socks sensei.

    Motocross is not all about power. Even at the moment, riders are saying "The old ones were the best", EVO bikes now costing a fortune. We are at a point in MX history, a turn for the worst. People who buy into this will be able to look back and tell their kids/ grandkids that they helped destroy one of the most amazing sports a kid could do. The noise, the smell, the groundshaking starts of a GP and the time spent fiddling with the bikes with yer buddies on weekends, all part of the MX sport. Such a shame.
