    Theres definitely things that has to be fixed, I agree to most of the concerns that you have but my main problem seems to be software related. Sometimes the app just wont connect to the bike. Getting a new phone charger/bluetooth receiver sent out and hopefully that will fix the problem. Thing is though that it is mostly small things that can be fixed quite easily or that I can live with, the bike is awesome in every other aspect (I totally understand if range can be a concern but not for me)
    1) Mudflap: Yeah that’s annoying, you either have to run a smaller sprocket or change to a longer chain. The should have kept a couple of extra links on the chain from the factory and that problem wouldn’t have happened.
    2) Chain guide: Its really narrow, my Regina chain didnt fit either so im running a D.I.D 520ERVT. Its tight but doable.
    3) Throttle tube: My main concern is that the throttle tube cant be bought separate from the whole throttle house. So a crash can be really expensive.
    4) Tube: I’ve never trusted anything lightweight, running mousse. Heavy but gets the job done.
    5) Side stand: I don’t have that problem when running 18”, didnt try with 19" wheels. Been parking it all over the place.
    6) I have been running front and rear wheels from HQ TE300i -22 (in all of my videos) as well as a KTM EXC-F 250 -21 without problem, the spacers fit perfectly. I guess it depends on which kind of category of bike you take the wheels from? All of the bikes ive taken wheels from falls into the "enduro" category, are yours MX?
    7: Manual: Yeah the manual is far from done, support is really good though even if its kind of annoying.

      On the tire touching situation, they suggested running a 47t rear or 13t front sprocket. On the tubes they said they are working to improve durability, on the sidestand they said they are reworking it. So hopefully they are just sorting these things out. The main bioe is incredible. Just a few oversights on parts that don't matter as much to work out. I would rather have my bike now than wait another year for these things to be sorted so glad they just released them.

    Not sure if you are in Ohio but I just went through title and certificate of origin for a Storm Bee. As a person you can get a title at the title office without a notary stamp for the 1st transfer. This rule just changed June this year so most title offices will not know how to handle this. You also need a sales recipient that shows sales tax paid or you'll owe tax when the title is generated. I opted to contact my dealership and let them mail the title to me since I didn't want to deal with paying sales tax twice by accident.

    • @913outdoors
      @913outdoors  Před 10 měsíci +8

      They said up to 6 hours. Probably a casual ride at like 15hp setting would do that. Realistically if you set it to KTM 300 power levels which I'd say is equal to around the 48-50HP setting, you could probably get between 2-3 hours depending on the trail, how deep/sticky, amount of climbing, etc. We stop a lot in the trails so that factors in as well. No idling, etc.

    Good points. It should help them fine tune it. I love electric bikes. They literally do everything better. I wanted a Stark but decided to give up mx at my age, too risky now days for me. I though about it as a trail bike but decided too heavy for me. I'm riding an Electric Motion Escape and its the best bike I've ever seen for getting up through technical stuff, blows gas away. Also have the Beta 300 Xtrainer and its great but electric with no clutch makes you 10 times more confident and safe. When you want traction, control and grip, electric delivers it perfectly. Also just got the Ultra Bee and its pretty cool too, working on wheel sets atm. Have fun, bike looks amazing! I like to keep an open mind and when something works better thats all that matters. The Beta it nice but it stinks, is noisy, won't run right if it sits too long and had to chang the oil yesterday.. EME almost nothing, just charge it and ride quietly.

    Useful info! To deal with the throttle, i would try changing the Brembo levers to 1-finger Midwest Mountain Engineering levers. They have a 2:1 compression ratio and are shorter which might help deal with limited mounting positions. For the kickstand.., untested idea: either 3D print a clip in “foot” to give an extra inch or weld on an aluminum tube to lengthen. For rubbing chain guide: get a thinner chain like the PRO TAPER PRO SERIES FORGED 520 MX SLIM ORING GOLD.

As for the throttle, you could shave of the end to match your grip length & either run bar end caps or wrap around hand guards. then you can move your front brake lever. Bummer on the tube, I was looking forward to running them on my track set up. I already have 2 18" wheels for trails from my GG, we talked about this on FB. So if you mess it up, you have to order a new one at $149 and who knows how long it will take for them to ship it. Also, I don't like wraparound giards or bar plugs. I've found 50hp to be the sweet spot for MX. Getting about 1% per minute. Higher setting may use more battery but likely you may not really use all the power so maybe not. Electric power hits a lot different than gas and 50hp setting is close to 450 power levels in reality since a 450 only peaks around 57-60hp but the part you ride in most of the time is in the 40-50hp zone. I'm sure 30hp setting would last a bit longer but you would be in the throttle a lot harder as well. I was getting about 10-15% more range set at 40hp but 50hp setting is easier to ride on MX. I think on trails i'll likely set to 35-40hp and should probably get about 3 hours out of it.

It just pisses me off that with everything going up these days companies have the nerve to release a product that isn’t quite as it should be. All the problems you listed seem to be easily avoided with the sourcing of some better and more suited parts or making their own. I understand they are new but still shouldn’t expect the customers to cop it. KTM are the same. Keep raising prices and giving less and less each year. I got sick of this 2 years ago and swapped to a Gas Gas. In Australia they are about 2 grand cheaper even though it’s the same bike, owned by the same company just in a different colour. The world has really gone mad.

      You're missing the point... the cost and limited ride time of the Varg battery as well as the poor quality control and near total lack of customer support is an automatic deal breaker... should Stark be around in 2 years I'll give it another look
      . Considering the hassle of installing a spare battery trackside means your ride time is limited to @1 hour...meaning the $50.00 you spent on track admission adds to your financial head scratching ...But like all EVs, 2 or 4 wheeled, they are relegated to a secondary role and nearly void of any practical use as a primary vehicle.. except for bragging at the local pub.. but in real world terms, they are an answer to a non existent question.. and once the novelty wears off, the Varq, like ll other EVs, represent a very poor value for the money

      Several years ago I attended a test ride for the Alta..great idea but poor execution...thus why Alta is on the ever increasing EV dead pile, Varq may have excellent quality in the manufacturing and procurement of parts... but the lack of attention to detail during the assembly process screams rank amatuer... maybe your Stark was the exception but as a potential buyer we all appreciate your blunt evaluation. BTW, I own a Tesla for several years now and through several Florida hurricanes.... never again..
      All EV manufacturers should de emphasize BS numbers like "80 hp, 0-60 times or 1000 horsepower " as their primary marketing points, which, again in the real world are meaningless. Focus on the real world range, parts affordability, dealer support and network.. Any AMA 450 Pro will tell you that 80 HP is unusable...and that 60 is about the limit.. just like my KTM 300XC

    Getting a longer chain or adding a couple links would have solved your tire issue. Also you said the front tire hits the swing arm....believe you meant front of the back tire. Also, is that the stock tire? 18" rim? Looks like quite a tall sidewall, but i could be wrong....mine's due in Oct. Your complaints, although thorough, are really nbd.....like you're looking for something to complain about. But i guess thanks for the info🤷‍♂️

    • @913outdoors
      @913outdoors  Před 10 měsíci +4

      Meant the front of the rear tire. Issue is why is like this from the factory? Yes a longer chain can solve that (may be back too far with one link i'm not sure). But it was rubbing the mudguard in the CENTER of the adjustment range. 13T front or 47T rear solves it. Stark only sells a 48t and 49t option. KTM aftermarket sprockets fit. Stock the 18" is a 120/100 tire. I think a 120/90 or 110/100 probably would work better with the whole arrangement. These are all issues i'm sure they will sort out quickly but things I noted and wanted to share. The throttle length and kickstand length are my biggest gripes. I tried a few different bars and none had long enough control length to fit the front brake. You will see when you get yours the throttle housing design is really in the way of the brake.

  • @JohnHowerton137
    @JohnHowerton137 Před 10 měsíci +2

    Not excusing them, but seems easy why most of these things are the way they are. Rookie moves by Stark and you.
    Original spec for 19” tire is the problem with both the chain and part of the kickstand. 18” wheel/tire in general is higher volume, getting it too close to the mud guard without an extra link. This also makes the kickstand slightly too short. Rivit links are very commonplace these days. High HP, racing and off-road applications they’re safer.
    The other part of the kickstand problem is the little barrel where the moon cams over. KTM also does this on EXC models for the street. It is a safety feature so you can’t ride away with the kickstand down. Remove the little barrel thing and maybe install a short bolt and it will lock in place like the KTM XC models. I actually have a video on this.
    ODI will have lock-ons for these things with a shorter tube in no time being is the best selling dirtbike model in history. The Brembo knob and control space has been a problem on KTM EXC clutch side since they switched from Magura. I actually prefer the brake (and clutch lever how Stark has it set up, but I can see how you might not. Even Jett rides with the levers this way, so you know it’s guaranteed to make you faster 🤣
    Ebikes have a little more girth and hug the ground better, so running a couple more PSI in the tires is helpful. Not much different than a big dual sport or a supermini where the wheels are smaller. All these applications run higher pressures.

    • @913outdoors
      @913outdoors  Před 10 měsíci

      Definitely won't be lock ons unless they make it go over the existing throttle tube. The throttle does not come apart. Meaning the throttle tube does not come out. Its locked together! I like the lever position but the long throttle tube makes the space from the end of the bar to the lever too long for most bars. By about 15mm! Also the throttle housing being 100% round with no indent clearance for the lever makes it worse. They should have a longer kickstand for the 18" wheel option. Its going to be more common to order an 18 and kickstand vs a 19 and kickstand right? 19" is MX spec. 18" is offeoad spec where people wants and need a kickstand. Not really needed or wanted for MX. The tubes definitely hoping the work them out. They are so light!! I'd love to run them. I just saw another video a guy popped the front on the 1st ride as well.
