Earth and her allies have vanquished the Romulan threat
The United Federation of Planets has been founded
The new Starfleet begins the exploration of the expanse
Rumours swirl of an enemy ship that refuses to surrender
I created this using Blender 3.5 and wanted to fill in some of the gaps in what we see on screen. The Daedalus class was designed an built during the 22nd Century as the war with the Romulan Star Empire began to come to a conclusion. Originally, the design was for long range, independent exploratory voyages for the United Earth Space Probe Agency, UESPA.
A short film, I am open to feedback as always.

Best version of the Daedalus class I've seen. Now I want to see a Star Trek series set in this era.
Thanks, I’m not sure I could run to a whole series though 😉
@@chrislea1000i dunno… you might be able to, especially with the help of AI voices.
Yes. They fixed the problem with the main deflector dish.
This is Daedalus class on steroids!
Didn't have photon torpedoes though.
Love this version of the Daedalus Class, Awesome work!
Daedalus Class , realistic spaceship fight video . Can you make spaceship more manoeuvrable and rapid fire to his enemy.
whose the moron firing the phasors and missing like shit they need reed he can atleast hit something🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The details of the ships are amazing.
But it's the details of the people that really impress. That Lt. Kinasha is really good looking. For a science officer, that is.
I love the Kelvinverse style radio chatter. That was one aspect of those movies I always appreciated.
Same, makes the universe feel busier
@@chrislea1000mild call back to the TMP movies, with the Saratoga actively relaying real time Data to Starfleet and asking for advice
To say that I am infatuated with the Daedalus Class ship is somewhat an understatement. This is the best rendition of this class starship I have seen. Updating it from ST-ENT transitioning into ST-TOS. Bravo and well done!
Congratulations on a great looking Daedalus! This is a version that I can imagine being post-ENTERPRISE, capable of exploring deep space.
I love that you went with a engine upgrade with her repairs. Shows how quickly Starfleet was advancing through the times, post war.
Thanks, was trying to make it a little more canon by the end
Amazing. With the details on the ships and the "old" technology, this feels very unique.
Thanks for watching, more to come
Beautiful work. The Daedalus looks fantastic and the battle scenes were tense. Great stuff!
I remember back when Enterprise was first announced, I was very exciting for a brand new vision of Trek that wouldn't have phasers or klingons. It was a time of ships with lasers and nuclear weapons, a very different Trek, and I expected the hero ship of the series would be a Daedalus-Class ship.
What we got was just more of the same ol' Trek we had since the 80s.
Love the warp flare and arrival streaks. Looks awesome!
If I can make a suggestion, some Homeworld-style distortion on the crew voices might be in order: czcams.com/video/-Z9-mrXyAPo/video.html&ab_channel=DesertPunks is a good example of what they did in say, Cold Waters. Distorts ordinary microphone voices that kinda lack the oomph thanks to 1d audio. The helmsman sounds good but the Captain you can hear the background mic gain hiss.
Thanks for watching and commenting - I actually added that hiss! The voices are a mix of humans and AI readers, I'm always open to suggestions though as to how to make this more authentic.
I do love the original look of the Daedalus before her refit. It feels a bit more grounded in reality than the Matt Jefferies concept sketch for the Enterprise. I especially love how the Nacelles look to be supported by secondary struts coming directly from the engineering hull as well as having a spine that runs from the primary hull to the engineering hull..
Thanks - I added the refit at the end to try and keep aligned to a bit of the canon - but I think pre-refit is better also
@@chrislea1000 It definitely is better. I'm not a fan of the Daedalus class, but your rendition is really good.
The only real critique I have with the film here is I'm not sure the feds had phasers and photons in the immediate aftermath of the Romulan war.
Especially in terms of the weapon effects and debris - you've clearly been working on some new tricks sir!
Indeed I have, wow explosions take a long time to create
I don't ask for much in life, but I know that I now want to see a full lenght movie of this encounter, I want back story, characters, context for this engagement, awesome music, I want the whole studio production, animated or live action doesn't matter, this was excellent (one tiny nit, I'd make the beam effect more instantaneous rather than animating its beginning and end, just on, then off), beautiful work
The graphics of this Star Trek short video is very good. 👏
Thanks for that and for commenting
Damn gorgeous!
Thanks, and thanks for watching
Now that's what I call one sweet ride!!!!😎🖖👏🙌🙏👍🎉
"I would LOVE to see some live action bridge scenes intercut with this..."
So would I. Is anyone aware of a bridge design for a Daedalus-class vessel (of that era)?
Sort of yes - it's amazing and not my workforums.scifi-meshes.com/discussion/10001109/sce2aux-scifi-work - really amazing work
I imagine it much like a battleship or submarine bridge. Very compact, lots of buttons, dials n screens. Less but relatively more than say the 1701 with many fulfilling a singular function.
you know, i've never been able to tell if the Daedalus class was supposed to have a symmetrical secondary hull or not- I really like your take, as it seems to make the most sense of any explanation i've seen offered.
Well this ship was well before Kirk's time. This ship replaced the NX class.
I really like your warp effects, especially when you show the ship traveling in the warp field. WELL DONE.
This would have been much better than Enterprise. Love it.
That Daedalus class starship is nice. Two thumbs up. 🤓
Thanks, glad you enjoyed
Every one forgets in Balance of Terror Spock and Scotty said Romulans of this era had primitive atomic weapons and simple impulse power no warp drive. That means no phasers or disruptors, no photons or plasma bolts - they even made that mistake on Enterprise.
There are some sources showing that some of the early slower Earth ships used fusion powered warp drives.
The Romulans most likely did the same since having only sub warp speed ships would not allow them to wage war with a warp capable Earth
@@christophernemeth421 In the TOS episode, "The Deadly Years", Spock states that the Romulan Warbirds (that have the Enterprise surrounded) cannot achieve more than Warp 4 (64c).
THANK……YOUUUU!!!!!
@christophernemeth421 but still no.photon torpedoes or kirk Era layers, canonhas it the deadelus carried nuclear missiles, like a submarine. And they were using a phaser canon
Relax. It’s not a history class. It’s a TV show. Let’s have some fun. Jeesh.
Amazing idea for a Star Trek Fan Film!
WOW - this is by far one of if the THE best I have ever seen to be just a "fan Film". the graphics are TOP STUDIO QUALITY - as good as ANYTHING the major studios can produce or have produced. I would love to see more and more - even a series. I would even donate to the effort. Bravo Chris and PLEASE keep up the incredibly GREAT work
Except for them jumping to Hyperspace instead of Warp this was a beautiful, fun, well crafted story. Well done
Thanks, more to come
I'm glad you used the earlier romulan ship designs than those Enterprise warbirds.
Thank you! Well done. A little explored time in Star Trek brought to life.
My fav ship !! Awesome video !
Superb as always - between you and Avalon Universe all my Trek needs provided!
Ha, those guys are great
Nice work. can't wait for more!
Wow,fantastic,more of thus ship pl.
Very cool. First time I've seen the Daedalus class depicted as a brawler, love that you picked such an underrated ship. How long did this take you?
Thanks for watching, designing and building the Daedalus took a few weeks. The Romulan ship already existed although it needed additional details, the station and the other starship already existed. Most of the time is taken up rendering out each frame - end to end, maybe two months.
It's one of the very first starship classes fielded by the UFP, and not long after the Earth-Romulan War. Makes sense it can fight.
@@hettbeansQ: how did starfleet design the connie
A: They took a Daedalus, got the primary hull REALLY hot, then dropped an anvil on it
Really impressive- I continue to like the Daedalus design, but in this video I am even more impressed by your approach to the tactics these ships might use, their weapons capabilities, the strengths and weaknesses of their sensors, and the design philosophy for the Romulan ship- what their ships might look like when still striving to look like birds but at a clunkier stage of development, like the human ships. Really allows the fan to integrate in our minds the already too graceful birds of prey from Enterprise with the clunky can-style ships implied in TOS and in some written works.
Excellent job. I love your take on the Daedalus class
Thanks - quite like it myself
Extraordinary attention to detail. I am awestruck! Very well done!!
LOVE IT!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed, thanks for watching
keep up the amazing stories!@@chrislea1000
Looks good...👍
Thanks, not long now 😀
I've been obsessed with this model for a while now, and the atmosphere is amazing. This is a major chunk of my headcanon, I love it so much!
AWESOME BEEFED UP VERSION OF THE DAEDALUS CLASS ...THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for watching!
Beautiful !!!!
Thank you for making this! Its was epic fun!
Really nice job on the ships. Much more realistic design elements than all other I've seen.
Love that warp speed effect!
Bravo! Love the ships and the special effects.
Beautifully done! Nice blending of familiar and original elements. You've taken familiar Trek sounds and design language as well as plausible extrapolations of modern real-world spacefaring, but at the same time created a cohesively original visual style that is distinct, and yet makes perfect sense for the time period.
Very nice detail at 1:45, the navigational deflector dish is at full power during a warp jump and winds down upon exiting
Great video. Love the daedalus class, fantastic detail. 👍
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it
yeah this model of the Daedalus does it great justice!!
I loved this, it was like two tall ships getting into position to fire, and after a few volleys they get a hit, there is no hitting everything you aim at, this is the early days, and you give that atmosphere and that feel very well, the ship is great, and has bulk to it, but then the refit looks more refined, over all you did a great job.
Great job!
Thanks for watching!
Excellent work!
Thanks, more to come
Beautiful work.
okay, you got me. I thought this would be lame, but it is very impressive. Great models, great cinematography, great job!
Love the realistic com tragic. Felt very real.Extreamly well done!😱
A master class in visual story telling.
This is an excellent ship. Well done!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed
Blender Rocks!
Excellent work 👏 I can't wait for the next.
I'm open to suggestions
Very cool video! Such an underrated class ship and design.
Fantastic design!
Quite Excellent! Beautiful ships!
Glad you like, more to come
This Daedalus fixes nearly every issue I have with the widely accepted and also Canon I might add model of the daedalus.
The gradual neck up the sphere....a better secondary hull....weapon placement... deflector placement
I knew someone would notice that mistake eventually 😀
Compared to Discovery this is Oscar worthy work!! Great work! 🥃🖖🏻
You make the Daedalus class have more verisimilitude than the original models. Also I love the fact that the size shown by the windows makes this almost like a space caravel.
Awesome show, i hope to see more!!!!
Awesome work
🖖😎👍Very cool and very nicely well done and executed in every detail way shape and form indeed, And I myself truly like your upgrade of the the Daedalus class as well as this has always been one of my favorite starship designs and I really enjoyed the battle scenes as well with the Romulans indeed, I myself have a few resin model kits of the original design plus the Eaglemoss diecast model as well!,👌.
This ship has always be the ugly duck in Star Trek ship design, but you make it look AWESOME
Well thank you
The straight pylons on this design- much like on the classic Constitution- give the Daedalus an aura of strength, like the engine pods are so powerful they would fly off the ship if it weren't for the thick pylons.
very handsome design ! 😛
Thanks and thanks for watching
excellent work
Thank you! Cheers and thanks for watching
This was actually pretty good! I realize that it was all about the ship, but I would like to see a live action series, complete with a crew, and some adventures next time! 🖖🏼
really like the design of the Daedalus, reminds me of 2001, great work!
Based, I adore the ships of Starfleet Museum!
Cool video! More please
More to come
The neck of that Daedalus is perfect
Amazing interpretation!
I loving the look of that ship it’s a beautiful ship. Well done.
Well thanks, more to come
Well done!
Thanks!
I don't normally enjoy fan made films but I enjoyed this one.
Glad to hear that
Aw, that's beautiful.
Thanks for watching, more to come
Nice to see an era of star trek and UFP that most fan films aren't doing for once. Awesome 10 out of 10! If I knew how to do videos like this(which I don't lol!) I would be covering the lost era between Captain Kirk's time and begining of star trek the next generation since no one does that. But that's just me. Lol. Again awesome epic video!!!
I was never a fan of the Daedalus class but you made me love it.
However, I think the officer at Tactical needs to realign his Phaser
target acquisition sensors.
Thanks - it would be a short video if every shot hit though :)
I wasn't either as by the time it was mentioned, it was TNG so compared to the Enterprise D, the Daedalus class ships were amusingly primitive and small.
Man, the Daedalus-class is one of those starships that's so ugly it actually circles all the way back around to being kind of cool, somehow. Great work on the video, by the way, it looks fantastic!
woow, what great CGI
According to non-canonical Star Trek lore, the Romulans during the war were using nuclear fusion powered spacecraft. Nuclear fusion was powerful enough for Romulan ships to reach and just exceed the equivalent of Warp 2. At the height of the Earth-Romulan War, the Romulans took nuclear fusion as far as it would go in technological capacity, around Warp 3.1. Few fans know that during the Earth-Romulan War, Earth did not start out with a plethora of Warp 4 or 5 war ships. Most Earth military spacecraft were still limited to a maximum of just over Warp 3. Also the Romulans struck first, giving them initiative and the ability to choose the place and time to strike.
Hence, Earth fought the war with a large mix of old, current, and new military spacecraft with capabilities ranging from Warp 3 to Warp 5. Towards the latter part of the war as Earth lost more and more of its older spacecraft, newer ones came on line with Warp 4 to 5 capability.
At some point in the conflict, Earth gained shield technology from its allies, probably the Vulcans or Andorrans. First generation shield technology was a boon for Earth spacecraft, enabling them to survive much longer in battle, being able to shake off initial enemy phaser and torpedo attacks. First generation shield technology had its limits, of course, nothing like the stronger shield technology of the later Star Trek Enterprise.
Humans are good at adopting new technology and improving it. It was the humans who later improved Warp speed technology past Warp 6 when even Vulcan technology had stalled at Warp 6, the Vulcans believing at the time that faster Warp was not possible.
Thanks for watching and sharing your knowledge
Great job with your take on the Daedalus. The original Daedalus has long been my least favorite-looking Starfleet ship in Star Trek, though I could always appreciate the practicality of it. This redesign maintains that practicality while making it significantly more pleasing to the eye, without altering the basic shapes of the design.
You could even get a sense that the later donut rings around spherical bridges seen in ships like Discovery could have their origin in being add-ons/upgrades to designs like this Daedalus at some point (before being advanced down the line to the actual Crossfield, etc).
yeah.original was awful and an eyesore. this is much better
very very nice good work...
Excellent!
Nice very nice
Thanks for watching!
best parts of Homeworld / PAX Imperia / Starcraft classic take on star trek here. awesoooome
For the first time, this class didn't look like a joke to me. Well done.
Awesome video you rock
so glad we still have fans making actual star trek. This would be a great series based on the very early days
This is INDEED actual Star Trek, unlike the corporate crap that's been coming out the last 10-15 years or so.
I could do a musical SNW style?
boy oh boy...are there interior shots?????
Ah, interior shots - they're on my list
@@chrislea1000 thanks !!!!!! Awesome work!!!
@@chrislea1000 Other than "interior" a somewhat off topic request. Maybe someday, in the future, your take on the interior and exterior of Franz Joseph's Starfleet HQ from his Technical Manual? Or even just one of the cruiseliner containers that a Ptolemy class would tow?
Your work is so great to watch AND listen to, it takes you right into these worlds. Thanks for the great REAL Star Trek!!!
Why!!? Why would they simply not do a barrel roll?!?!
But in all seriousness this is fantastic. I love the effects. It’s amazing how you can simulate the old effects yet have them be more realistic. Also are those physical models?
Awesome
Nice story idea... rather goofy tactical combat. Really nice models.
... now that is how I would have imagined the Romulan ships! ...
