The Equinox Effect - A Star Trek Fan Film from The Federation Files

  • Data must correct the timeline before the Federation is lost and the Borg take over. This story features The Guardian of Forever that was originally introduced in Season one of Star Trek, "City on the Edge of Forever" and will surely be a favorite watch for time-travel buffs. This film crosses many Star Trek franchises including the original series, the Next Generation and Voyager. The story was originally written by Camren T. Burton for a proposed Star Trek television pilot series starring John Savage as captain Rudy Ransom, who appeared in the Star Trek Voyager episode, "Equinox". This new series was to also include Gary Lockwood from the original Star Trek second pilot, "Where No Man Has Gone Before". The pilot failed but the shelved-footage caught the attention of Glen L. Wolfe who acquired the rights and re-wrote the story that is featured in this final production. For those Star Trek fans who love hidden Easter Eggs, play close attention and you'll discover them throughout the film. Including some screen time from one animated Star Trek character.

One grievance I have however is Picard in his First Contact uniform on board the Enterprise D. Shouldn't he still have TNG or at most VOY uniforms depending on the closeness to the events of Generations? 🤔

Good story , good concept . Good world building and better-than-most Green Screening . Surprisingly decent costuming .
I _personally_ particularly liked the in-story timeline vignetting , stitching together different sets , locations and in-Trek locales and eras , seamlessly into the constructed story concept and execution . Nicely done !
Get an acting instructor to teach characterizations to your on-camera talent , and someone familiar with directing to teach as ASSISTANT to your CREDITED Director and film crews .
Your Editor did a good job keeping his cuts and transitions tight enough to sustain the flow ,
and good use of music to match the tenor and intent of each scene .
Its _clear_ you were after better than what's coming to be known as "dress-up Trek" , and _I_ think you did pretty well 👍.
Do enough takes and review the best results with your actors so they can - with the help of the acting and coaches - smooth out their deliveries in their performances . Mostly they did surprisingly well for amateur talent , and proved that with a love for Trek a good job CAN give the result of a good effort , even _if_ untrained !
Choose only the BEST takes for final use , and don't be afraid to re-shoot , and don't be afraid of instruction and enough re-takes to get something _you_ as "Talent" and crew can end up being far more proud of .
    Seriously -
This has real potential , _if_ you plan on going anywhere with this .
There are even some great stories that could come out of _THIS_ one !
    Folks -
_We_ are in real need of some GOOD Star Trek and sustaining _this_ part of the Modern Cultural Mythos *_by_* *US* -
    *the True-Trek WORLD*
_outside_ the "Universe" of know-nothing stuffed shirts FAMOUS for HATING Star Trek ,
_your_ efforts are _absolutely_ worth honing .
Take a look at and EVALUATE some of the best Fan-Trek on Y-T, and don't be afraid of working hard for a top notch result . It might take longer , but the results would be worth it , and would pair more seamlessly with post-production work and final presentation PRODUCT .
Some notable references _might_ include some of the better of Avalon ,
Enemy Star Fleet , Renegades and Of Gods and Men - EXCELLENT Feature-Length presentations - as was Prelude to Axanar , and there are even a couple of really decent TNG productions here on Y-T , but the best example by _far_ of episodic Trek and some of the BEST of Trek *anywhere* - even in *_Prime_*_ Canon_ in terms of execution , would be Vic Mignona's
    *"Star Trek Continues"* .
    WORTH a _serious_ look .
There they made a DETAILED study of characterization _and_ "look and feel" .
You guys did surprisingly well , or I wouldn't have been interested in commenting ,
    so guys - please -
if you want to actually produce some GOOD Trek
(this _was_ actually _really_ decent ) and give your Actors , Crew and Staff recurring opportunities to construct something of a small Trek legacy of their own , put a little work into raising the game ,
building on what you've done here .
The "memory Alpha" concept is a great jumping - _off_ place 👍.
    Sincerely -
    All the _best_ -
    - C .

As with many time travel episodes, the butterfly effect of altering the past corrupts the time line, thus variations in history occur, which is the point of this film. Carson trying to save her sister , a seemingly small alteration, caused not only the future to change, but even rippled backward in time to effect the past as well.

so I guess by circa 2371 the Enterprise D still lives (despite it's destruction in Generations in 2370).

I liked this overall however I have some comments. For the life of me when acting do not sound robotic as if you were reading from a book. The script was all over the place. I feel like this video could been at a million views. I like the social effects but I think it could been a lot more sharper.

One of the more difficult things to do I agree but these fledgling actors put their best efforts forward. We appreciate these efforts and their extreme dedication to this project.

    • @soulbasedliving
      @soulbasedliving Před 3 lety +1

I think the actors did very well for not being pros. People don't realize if you bring in a trained actor, while they would be willing to volunteer to get more exposure, they would take over the project to improve quality ( for example they would have a friend help who does makeup, wigs, etc...) but then the producers lose control, and it's not their sole project anymore.

Not even close to a million. What a great compliment. Slow down and watch this in real time. I think you would experience the story in a much better frame of mind.

Waw. What a great story. Kpt. Ransome is back and live action M'Res? Twice waw. First percet cgi Arex in ST phase II and now, sexy cat, literally. :-) And now II. , both of them, please. ;-) Too bad that ST fan productions can't make at least 45min. movies. In this case would be awesome have 60min.or so motion picture. Sigh.

Interesting and decent storyline however a bit all over the place and the sets and actors are mediocre at best, still better than anything cbs has come up with in a long time.
