When Meta Tactical said they wanted to sponsor a video on their APEX series conversion chassis, I thought, why not?
I think conversion chassis are kind of fun, and I have several of them.
However, I always kind of put these types of chassis in the "Just For Kicks" category.
You go out and have fun with them on the range, and that's about it. It definitely is fun out on the range, but as I continued to shoot it, I started realizing that if someone wanted to seriously use this for a home defense setup, it actually holds its own.

This is what one would call the “screw your tax stamp” gun.
Or just get an actual bullpup in a rifle caliber...
@elmateo77 Or get both, because it's about fun
Why would you need a tax stamp on a 16 inch anything? Is it the overall length that is an issue?
@@frognutz0o barrel length on rifles matter. Bullpups move the action back so you can have the longer barrel but decrease overall length
@@frognutz0o anything less than 16” barrel on rifle is considered short barrel and falls under NFA regulations.
That's an impressive platform. I like that the bullpup platform lends to the stability.
and a sloppy trigger
Look’s cheap and dumb with that barrel jumping up and down. And now we are saying bullpups are sbrs?
@@knunn5171 no just look at how many points of contact you have with very little recoil it's better than putting a shoulder stock on a pistol.
@@comosediceesoo681 It is pretty cool!
@@knunn5171 Sounds like we got a poor.
That 'cheek' incident had me LMAO. Hard to go wrong with any platform that stabilizes a Pistol / Caliber in rifle form. I manufactured an ATF AR SBR in 9MM and it was so smooth to shoot, with almost no recoil that it almost became boring to shoot, it was so accurate and smooth
I own 2 apex bull pups. One in 9mm and one in 10mm. They are amazing !!!!! The best thing I’ve bought in the last 10 years. I would highly recommend getting one for your Glock.
10 mm gang is goold
Best company to buy one from or best website
@@mylifedaybyday07 I bought mine from the company. Great guys to deal with
I have a 10 mm im.looking into this wats the legality though? In comiefornistan...😢
Same here i got the psa version, but i wanna get it in 45 acp next but glock.
If they just put one more pistol underslung on the foregrip I'd be in.
Couldn't you do that with a pistol that has a rail or optics mount?
Definitely, a poly 80
That would make the second pistol an SBR
The ATF is going to take this away in a heartbeat. Get it while you can.
Not sbr. Has 16in barrel.. 16in pistol
First saw this on Military Arms Channel, great review Colion! Imagine this platform for the 10mm, that would be insane.
I had the exact same thought a glock 20 running some hot hollow points would be a sick home defense setup
Waiting for that!
@@notanotherstep ehhh, too much in my opinion. I'm thinking 9mm or .380 for home defense, so none of those well placed rounds pop out the other side of the unlucky home invader(s). 10mm HP are expensive right now too, makes practice expensive.
They already make it for the Glock 20 in 10mm. I own it. It’s amazing 🔥👍🏼🔥👍🏼🔥
@@mikeyID Do a chrono on it?
Mr. Noir, I would like to commend you and thank you for all your excellent content. Your commentary is clear, down-to-earth, insightful, and entertaining. Easy to see why you've been so successful. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Colion. I went out and bought one. With the weight so close to the shoulder, this thing maneuvers like a 911GT3. Incredible.
The barrel tilt on the 16" barrel would concern me for longevity of the pistol. Seems like it would cause some excessive stresses
I’ve seen no wear because of the 16in barrel. It runs everything I load into it. It’s amazing. Best thing I’ve bought in years. It really works and is built with quality
Definitely more wear but on a Glock do you really care?
@Mike Olson so how much they paying you mike? Youre pumpin this thing up an awful lot in quite a few comments.
@@sweetmeatnc1504 nothing. I just fell in love with my 9mm Glock 17 apex. Then I found out they were making one for the Glock 20, 10mm. Don’t care if you believe me. It’s a legit system.
@@sweetmeatnc1504 you asked before I had a chance!
I'm hoping they make a universal chassis system for more handguns one of these days. It would be interesting to see something like the Walther PDP which is literally made for an optic fit into a chassis for extra stability.
Make one for a 1911. 🤣
Maaaan… I just picked up a 5” FS Walther PDP and that sounds AWESOME
@@denrizza Mech Tech Systems has been making PCC conversions for pistol frames for more than 20 years. They make them for 1911, Glock, and Springfield XDM.
I would bet even now Palomino State Armory is working on their own improved version of this for the gen 3
Won't it be better to simply make handgun into standalone pdw then?
Like MP9,MP7 or so?
Had my doubts watching the barrel tip moving so much, but that accuracy is on point.
That's simply how the Browning tilting barrel locking system works. It just looks exaggerated with the 16 inch barrel.
Seems like great accuracy even though you can see the end of the barrel jumping around after each shot.
I own two of the apex pull pups. One in 9mm and one in 10mm. They are accurate, no joke. Best thing I’ve bought in years. I bought the first one for my Glock 17, 9mm. Loved it so much I bought one for my Glock 20, 10mm. I can fit it in my pack pack and it’s ready for bear country
The barrel jumps around because it tilts when the slide of the glock unlocks.
@@fullfire0 exactly it has to move
u only own revolvers?
@@mcalixtro82 ??
Thats dope the fact it actually changes your barrel out!
Say nope to dope
I love the design looks a lot like a phaser from Star Trek
I was thinking Starship Troopers
@@orlandoskipper589 oddly, those are M14s with a fun kit slapped on them.
Futuristic looks ugly.
I love the practicality of something like this. Use the pistol as a ccw when out and about, in the car, and when at the range, and use the conversion kit for home defense (and also at the range).
Yep, just ordered one for my G27. I initially bought the G27 for my backup gun 23+ years ago...when my department issued G22's. Now that we're carrying G17's, I have shelved my G27 and rarely shoot it because it sucks to shoot. Now, I have a way to shoot a gun I wouldn't otherwise. Excited to see how it shoots. Thanks for the great content!!
I've always liked kits like this. I've been a fan of bullpups ever since I learned about them. My issue has always been the price. A kit for a gun costing more than the gun itself is a no go for me.
You can 3d print stuff like this for about $20 in filament.
@@jacksin3323 a nice claim. Why not prove it?
@@jacksin3323 except you will get the wish version
@@ARDG89 this is already wish quality. If youve never seen or shot a printed gun, you dont get to talk about them like you have.
@@jacksin3323 great, go print one then
you mentioned the trigger the truth is all bull pups are a little more mushy on the triggers
Yeh they could technically beef up the metal in the linkage but at a cost of bulk and weight
The mush comes from the bar running to the action (in this case trigger) flexing and to get rid of the flex you would need something 3+ times thicker you would also have more drag on the system friction etc that would make the trigger a heavier pull
I think just spending time with the gun is what really matters the trigger feel is something you will adapt to
The trigger is not bad at all. Overall it’s a great system for your Glock. I own 2, one in 9mm and one in 10mm. Both amazing setups
They now have alloys that are stronger and stiffer that are thinner than what they use in them.
A pushrod system such as f1 suspension or small block pushrods. A simple rocker change by order or order by ratio of sensitivity.
Meta Tactical is a fantastic company . I will absolutely champion their product and customer service after the experience I have had. They went above and beyond for me after another company absolutely left me holding the bag. In Meta Tactical and Colion, I do trust.
I am so glad you showed the cheek shot 🤣 sorry for laughing. That is so good to know. This is such an awesome platform. Thank you so much for sharing!
"Engineers were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should.."
😂
I thought the same thing until I bought one for my Glock 17. Bro it’s amazing. Not like the other ones on the market for Glocks. This one is legit
these companies always make for glock what glock owners dont really give a damn about, most glock owners just want full auto and to eat their bowl of stale cardboard flakes like the freak they are...
if this conversion were for another pistol it would have sold like hot cakes but now its competing with the micro roni the only advantage is barrel length and 9mm is maxed velocity with a 7" barrel anyway
I don't understand how this isn't nfa.. not that I agree with nfa in ANY way but isn't this a shoulder fire pistol now?
@@beargillium2369 it’s all legal to own. It’s a 16in barrel. Bull pups are very compact. My 9mm apex has 1800 rounds thru it. It hasn’t let me down with accuracy or reliability. I can’t say any bad about it.
Purchased one about a month ago honestly I dedicated a handgun to it and don't really care to take my ARs out anymore. It's pretty accurate, very mobile, feels nice when shooting. Everyone comments on the barrel bounce, one it is a browning system they kinda do that and two how often are you standing next to your gun admiring the barrel when you shoot it? I am glad that someone like Colion Noir took time to review it really helped justify my purchase. Shipping times are a bit slow compared to other companies but end of the day I am super happy with my purchase.
Order one as well! Still waiting though 13 days later lol
@@rivercityviews48 I am sure after this video shipping time lines are now constrained. I ordered accessories about a week ago and no movement.
Thanks for the review, it looks like a cool/fun chassis. As for "trigger snobs", well, usually they hiss and scurry off into the night at the mention of "bullpup" in the first place.
Received mine yesterday for my Glock 27 40cal
Added pop up sights as well as my Holosun 508T.
Very nice setup...
I think there's definitely a place for these conversion kits. They work too!
Maybe put a barrel stabilizer cuz every time you shot that barrel was jumping didn't like that
Barrel stabilizer hahahahahahaha good joke.....i hope that was a joke atleast
A) How did I miss this review?
B) That’s friggin cool.
C) Thanks for keeping the reviews honest, Colion. When someone says, “At first I thought this was stupid. Then I [made it function].” I tend to credit the review more strongly.
Bullpup power !!!!!!
I started to collect them in 12 gauge , 5.56 .
Awesome !
You put several shots on target at 50yrds with a G19. Congrats, Colion, you're now qualified to protect Indiana Malls from active shooters.
On another hand, I'm quite interested to know what's the energy on target provided by the rifle-length barrel. I'd put my money on 90 to 115gr at most for the best results. Great vid, thank you!
Velocity will help answer the energy on target question.
@@texas_stone_lets_go_brando953 That's right sir, it's one of the elements of the equation, and it'd be also interesting to know all numbers in the equation when using a 16" barrel, no doubt about it!
On another hand, it's true, I asked for the final number, it's because I had many of the rather recently released (4-5yrs) and very popular PCC's in my head. Cheers!
That's really cool. I like that. Time to look up prices!
*looks up prices*
Okay, so it's $500. You do get an entire 16" barrel, so that's a big part of the cost.
Did anyone else see the barrel flailing around after each shot? I guess that's fine since he was still hitting the steel? I'd imagine the bullet is long gone by the time the slide snaps back and moves the barrel.
The barrel moving is part of the Browning action, perfectly normal.
It does negate any chance of suppression with this platform though.
@@shadowblade232
Roger that!
I've seen other reviews of this and yours was really good. Thanks!
I purchased this half way through the video 😅 I fell in love at first sight. Bought the 2A plasti dip one.
Remember that scene from Lost In Space where he upgrades his pistol into a rifle?
Just pointing out most 9mm ammo just isn't made for a 16 inch barrel, you're not getting that much extra juice from it. That being said there are specialty rounds that *are* optimized for longer barrels
I'd take it even further. Some ammo gains just enough extra velocity to create uncontrollable expansion and under penetration. With the exception of special pcc loads and 147 grain ammo. Which gains almost no velocity. So it still expands properly.
Can yal make the ammo you suggest
@@kristopherleslie8343 there's a youtube video on the subject, it's in french though.
I can link it if you want
Most 9mm gives you about 150 to 200 extra fps. That Underwood load I tested was about 300 fps being that they seem to cram the powder in that thing, ha.
@@Jesses001 The vid I've seen the guy get 1000 joules out of standard P 9mm.
That barrel hop is off the chain though...wow.
Yea is that supposed to happen? It’s weird because he didn’t miss one shot lol
I have been dubios about this platform with all the other tried and true options out there. After watching this video I am a believer, i think ill have to pick one of these up for my PSA dagger.
All questions I had about the platform answered! Thank you for the info
This is badass! This would be amazing to have! Bring it! Pew pew!! 💯
it's wild watching the tilting barrel wiggle around... disturbing actually
Very annoying to me
@@caliveteranOIF cant notice it while you shoot it so who cares
@@fourohsevenfishing Well I guess I do
@@caliveteranOIF barrels pull back and down on most semi auto pistols, it's too fast to notice when not in slow -motion same with the conversion
I actually was considering meta and now a review by you is a sale point for me
Absolutely......LOVE IT. The platform looks very futuristic but very easy to use and versatile.
Great TOY! I tried this out at my local gun club. Zeroed at 25yd perfectly using Monsturm Prism optic BlackBird with 2" groups using 124 gr X-Force ball ammo but 6" groups at 36yds and 8" groups at 50yds no wind. I had to zero at 36 yds per range rules in order to run our Pistol/Carbine course but wasn't able to get minimum 2" groups so this platform failed to meet our minimum range requirements, but it is fun to shoot but will not be my Biden ATF truck gun replacement. Hope this helps someone..
That seems to be the findings with all of these Glock SBRs is that they aren’t super accurate past 20-25 yards, and at that point why even use an SBR?
Would love to see this for the 5.7 pistols.
Just bought the Ruger LC Carbine.. It’s friggen fantastic!
Just get an ar57 upper
love your reviews brother! plus you make it look cool!! thank you!
I like seeing the tip of the barrel twitch whilst you unload it, I think they're happy to have you pressing their trigger.
This is sick.
Who?
Again a company that made a great looking Right-handed option! What about us leftys out here!?! Lol
Become a righty
As a fellow lefty I want it but damn don't wanna eat the brass
The world wasn’t made for us . . You could probably make a metal deflector to spit the brass down instead of up and out … and epoxy it in place .
5:44 “Gettin Cheeky Are Ya?” Captain Price
I did the HTA 90/22 for my 10/22. Same thought process, remove the stock from a 10/22, install it in a conversion kit that moves the actual trigger, bolt, barrel, etc back so it's now a bullpup with an 18" barrel (you can go as short as a 16.5" barrel and still be "legal" without an SBR tax stamp) just in a 22LR instead of a 9mm.
Does this only work with 9mm, or do they have a 10mm (barrel)? This would be a really good kit for 10mm since 10mm packs more of a punch.
They have a 10mm for the Glock 20. I own it. Bro it’s amazing and it’s compact. Fits in my pack pack. Perfect for bear or wolf country
Is the barrel supposed to move up and down inside the chassis frame like that? Seems like it would cause accuracy issues
It's meant to be that way. Military arms channel did a pretty good job explaining why. I thought the same thing but most people seem to be really surprised about the accuracy of it.
consequence of using a tilting barrel pistol action. its fine since it will lock into the slide just like on a regular glock.
Yep it unlocks and tilts…. It affects nothing accuracy wise.
he mentions it in the video. hes on target no problem at 50 yards and said you could be accurate to 100 yrds but its not gonna shoot 1 inch groups.
@@ericsfishingadventures4433 Thanks
I just got mine and set it up. For a G23. Is still light enough to shoot one handed with ease if needed. But with a 65 MOA reticle flip iron sights, flashligh/laser. Next I’m getting a couple drums as well 😂thing is sick.
Cool addition to make your Glock more usable regarding accuracy. I would get one, but I bought my Glock 17 for less than what they are charging for the kit. Maybe $300, maybe, but not $500 or more. For that kind of money I would want it in something else, not all plastic.
As if the Glock Trigger wasn't bad enough already 🤣🤣
If you're going to drop money on this chassis for your Glock, are you not already making tweaks to said Glock trigger and make it better? Lol sometimes you really can just shine a shit and it works
This makes me want a glock now, just for this conversion kit
I own 2 apex bull pups. You won’t regret buying one
throw that idea in the garbage and wait for a different handgun to have a conversion made for it. glocks ruin aiming due to their dumb grip angle
@@MrSolidsnake293 no joke. It’s accurate and functions with no problems. I really am happy with both of mine.
@@mikeyID no problems for now... the barrel walking up and down is a clear sign of strain mechanically, if its anything like the micro roni its not going to be super durable for the cost...the cheek bite in the video made me shudder thinking as a kit designer
The 16" barrel for 9mm is overkill when 7" barrel is the length 9mm was designed to be used in for max efficient velocity's and range.
16" is literal overkill for 9mm, if your trying to plink long range targets with a pistol caliber you're using the wrong tool.
@@MrSolidsnake293 I’ve shot 1800 rounds thru my Glock 17 gen 3. I always clean it after each outing. I see nothing, no extra wear or anything weird happening to it. It’s a legit system for a Glock. I liked it so much I bought one for my Glock 20-10mm. I carry it in my back pack when I go fishing up in the mountains. Great firepower against bears, wolfs and mtn lions.
That muzzle flipped though😂😂😂
NOW THATS A PISTOL CONVERSION i can actually rock!!!!!! I love it!!!!!! Looks expensive tho! Like the pistol lower hooks up to the Mech Tech barrel, but this looks really nice!!!!
Hopefully they make a chassis for p80s also, and other platforms such as cz,hk, m&p, sig, Taurus, colt etc etc etc.....❤
They do go to the site
@@josephs4744 I did, nothing for cz, hk,.....
Just the p80
@Joseph S yeah I saw that, one of those will be coming soon. But for the hk would've been sick!
It would be really interesting to see a lightweight 9mm suppressor on this long barrel and see if it still works...
it doesnt. military arms channel did a test and it failed to cycle with a suppressor.
You couldnt figure out on your own a 16in barrel with a suppressor could never tilt like it needs to
i always thought about making one of these, i know that a few bullpup pistol chassis systems were made in the uk that are fairly similair
A lot of barrel movement on that one. But it looks intentional as that pistol slide has to move back and the barrel will naturally tilt to get the next round into battery. Still very fascinating. That this is consistently accurate at distance is impressive.
only issue I have from what I see, the barrel isn't really held down by much.
Same thing. Not much stability for a that long and thin of a barrel.
The barrel is moving to a slant due to the slide forcing it up, same way it would if using stock barrel. Exaggerated due to the length.
@@scottgilbert1591 my thing is, it should at least lock into something. That’s all, it’s a beautiful work of art but everything has a flaw.
How is it suppose to lock into anything when it has to move...super smart you are - yoda
Ohhhhh boy I'm sure the aft is going to have to make up another ambiguous "rule again!
Maybe not. Bullpups are already popular in rifle and pcc
I seen this conversion a while back, but was a bit sceptical of the quality. I mean I love the concept, I just wasn't sure it was worth the price. Now after watching & listening to what you said about it I'll be inclined more inclined to shell out the money.
I’m just gonna get for the 16 inch barrel
Only issue with that is that a lot of 9mm defensive ammo doesn't do well in a 16 inch barrel. The velocity ends up being to high resulting in uncontrolled expansion and underpenetration. The major exception is 147 grain ammo, which doesn't see any real velocity gains from the 16 inch barrel. An at that point what is the point. Unless you pair that longer barrel with a platform that makes it more controllable like a pc carbine.
@@project86xero 9mm out of a 16” barrel still has less velocity than 357 Sig out of a 4” barrel. And 357 Sig uses 9mm projectiles. Oh yeah… and 357 Sig is awesome!
I like that you don't really have to modify your Glock! Just remove the stock barrel and add the 16" one! I love it!
Very cool man, from an ex AJ in Australia, this looks so good and I wish we were able to have fire arms in this country like in America.

See there's always a work around no matter what. This is a pretty good solution can't wait to see the 3rd or 4th gen of the meta tactical apex series.
Just got one for my G23 and put it together. Can't wait to shoot it!
Hey Colion, love the content. Keep it up. Sorry, weird question, but what brand shirt are you wearing while testing the Meta? Thanks
Great video. It's a concept I had hoped to see some years ago. I was always concerned how the trigger linkage would feel.
Generally however, *I would not recommend walking backwards* with a loaded weapon, especially when one isn't looking at the path for likely footing issues.
I guess you have balance issues or something. He's in a DIRT PIT. Obviously there was nothing behind him. He checked beforehand
@@davidmadison5582 My recommendation stands. Even a small-ish loose stone, or even a cartridge case, can completely trip one up no matter how good one's balance may be. Regardless of how perfect one thinks the surface behind them is, it's generally not a good idea to blindly walk backwards with a loaded firearm...even if recently eyeballed for objects that could trip one up. Dirt and leaf clutter can hide such things very well.
edit: add ref to potential to trip on cartridge case
Very impressive and very Informative.
Hey man, I'm not sure if any of you are interested but if you cut off the beavertail of pi-x ar9 pistol grip it will fit, and give you a second mag holder. I put on mine and I love it, and in my opinion the grip is a better feel. If you're interested I recommend doing so I'm sure most won't be disappointed.
That cheek footage was appreciated. Thanks for starting my morning with a laugh😂
Great video! The music was incredibly distracting however, and I kinda wish you did a velocity comparison pre to post conversion. I hope they acknowledge the cheek grabbing via engineering solution.
I was dying 😂😂😂😂 on that cheek situation
Nice!!!! I had to get the tax stamp 10 years ago or so for the first RONI and MICRONI
Just chatting about this in the PSA dagger group. Pretty neat
0:54... really?? Felt like that, huh??😂😂 Keep it up bruh! Keep fighting the good fight for us!!! RESPECT!!!
It's a cool little idea for Glock owners. I believe that's going to be the future of converting handguns into a carbine. You may laugh at this, but I have a High Point 4095. But it has the Hightower conversion kit, which makes it look like something out of Halo. The kit shaves a little weight off of the original rifle. And it makes it better for something for home-defense or truck gun.
Awesome innovation - love it!
Review 🔥Might have to grab this one.
The 2 little tabs that hold the frame in and the extending stock looks like it will brake real easy . If they do something that would be beefier and repairable like an AR take down pin then it may be worth the $500
Great video bro! Keep them coming.
Definitely enjoyed this video. 🙏🏾💯
Great and honest reveiw
It looked good I ordered one !
You will love it. I have two apex bull pups. One in 9mm and one in 10mm. Best purchase I’ve made in a long time.
Pretty cool design. The longer barrel should get a little more out of the 9mm, but it's slower to operate (mag changes and slide release) and convert back to a pistol than some of the other designs.
0:55 - 1:00 is a perfect call for coyotes and such lol
Love your channel! Thank you!!!!
I have to tell you Colion , I do not normally comment on videos at all. I do know I watch a ton of CZcams…what I liked about this video. Is the part where your cheek got caught. Yes you looked a little silly. Yes, it looks very painful and number two I feel that you just showed your community that you’re a real down to earth person because that is 100% what I could possibly do or anyone else but a lot of people try to hide stuff if they make a mistake so hats off to you sir!!!!!!
in Finland you couldn't put on the long barrel - that's converting a short gun to a long gun. But the chassis itself is completely unregulated as long as it attaches and detaches without using tools.
Have to wonder if this system would work with the rotary barrel Beretta PX4 guns? Concerned about the barrel mass not allowing proper cycling.
I have one it's great it's my home defense system great for room clearing
