    One neat trick you missed is that when you're in TIMER mode, you can cycle through the 5 timers by pressing START to start timing, then holding down DISP for a couple of seconds, which moves you onto the next timer in the sequence. I've set up all 5 timers with the times I use most: 1:00:00, 30:00, 10:00, 5:00, 2:00. I can basically pick the one I want using this method, which is really useful, rather than having to set up a particular time using the UP/DOWN keys, which takes way too long.

    Your reviews are always the best. I ordered one, solely for the easier-to-see time/date. I may occasionally check the tide before going to the beach, but I do not intend use the other complications since I always carry my much larger smartphone. When Casio make a simple watch with this display and solar charging, I'll get that next.

    This is the best tutorial for this watch. Yesterday I found a good deal for the GBX-100KI-1 and today I watched this video to set up the watch. I have the G-7800 and this is very similar design with the metal bezel. I like the display of this GBX-100KI-1. Your video is better than the manual. Thank you. 👍👍

    Just received mine today and this video was extremely helpful setting up the watch. You were right on, too. I have had many Casios/G-shocks and that "muscle memory" is real. I couldn't figure out why the controls didn't "work" like I was used to.
    Once I watched the video and played around a bit...I'm getting the hang of it after only 15 minutes.

    Thank you for the tutorial. I didn't even bother to look at this watch when it was introduced. Only after I bought 2 negative displays G Shocks ( GW9400 1BER & DW6900 BB) I realised that there should be a better negative display in the G Shock line up. By the time I look back at the GBX 100 models, they're out stock! I was fortunate to get one from a local shop and didn't think twice to get it when he said its on limited stock. Amazing display and thats all I want, the MIP display. I look at my watch and I can see the time crystal clear! and rest of the features are bonus for me.

    I'll tell you what I see in this watch as a plus
    1. You have the best display in a watch ever imo
    2. You have way more visible information than a regular G-Shock. For instance, once you go to alarm menu, you are able to see the set time for all your alarms without scrolling with a button. You can have much more signs of your functions and overall the screens are much more interactive. The whole menu looks like innovation from the future of the brand.
    3. The count down timers are freaking awesome for boxers and interval trainings!
    4. Buttons are much nicer to operate for comparison with the classic squares from the 5000 series
    Actually I was on the market for classic 5000 shock, but they are too small for me. The big shocks are way too big to snick under sleeves and this one is just perfect size.
    If you use it as a regular watch and you're the one like me, looking for classic 5000, but you want to have balanced size and best display she just sacrifice the solar function, then this is the watch for you
    5: vibration alarm!

    I like this watch for the design and the digital screen. From the features aside from watching the time itself I am mostly using the alarm, checking my steps and notifications(for example if my phone sound is off and if someone calls me, the phone is on the bed and I will get the vibration on my wrist). The app is a bit slow yeah, but not unnaceptable, I mean how many times will you go in there). About the batery, for me personally if it lasts at least an year, then it's fine going to change it once a year. I know what I got beforehand after all.

    • @taoistgoth
      @taoistgoth Před rokem +1

      I used to think the same, but the new MIP G-Shocks with Solar still can't go forever without needing to recharge, so a battery swap every 2 years is no worse than plugging the watch into the mains every couple of weeks. In fact I'd say it's better. Multiband 6 isn't needed when you have time sync over bluetooth - again that's better because it works anywhere in the world. The input response isn't really an issue day-to-day once you've got everything set up.

    I’ve bought this watch in the black version (ss bezel) mainly because of the detailed tide/moon/sun functions which is a lot more detailed than any other tide graph G Shock I’ve had before, also the face looks good with the MIP, one thing that annoys me is they didn’t include a basic countdown timer like every other G shock has, I’ll have to use the first one of the workout timers but it would have been so easy just to add a basic timer to the modes.

    I have this same watch and I do (mostly) like it. This display is stellar, moon phase and tide is great (once you synch the tide to the real local value), and the papery weird band is really cool (I hope it lasts). What drives me crazy: not being able to zero the seconds manually. I put the watch in airplane mode all the time because I don't care about Bluetooth notifications, but being able to synchronize with atomic time should not require hooking up to an app! (That said, this module is pretty accurate and I don't have to synch it as often as most of my other G-Shocks....)

      I agree with you when you say 'a watch should not require a phone to zero its seconds'" . But the GBX 100 is not just watch. It is a digital watch and digital watches are evolving. G Shock for its part, is doing its best to catch up with the evolution of the digital technology with the digital smart watches as their competitor. Whether you like it or not, your digital watch is linked to your essential gadget and that is your smart phone. The feature is meant to be used for convenience. But to each his own. Hello. Congratulations on the video.
    I would like to ask you a question: after we receive a call notification, is it possible to see who called?
    I ask this because I'm a surfer and I need to know who called me, after receiving a call notification ... (And yes, I'm thinking of carrying a small smartphone connected via Bluetooth with the CASIO watch, properly protected from water, inside my wetsuit ). but i can´t find that information anywhere... Could you see that for me?... If appears, it appears the number who made the call, or the name of the contact...?
    Thank you very much!

    So I just purchased this watch a few days back and I cant select the APP function for the Tide setting. I mean, its there bu the watch gives me a NOT AVAILABLE message. Latter I managed to set it to the app but from the app only and ONLY for locations that were already pre set in the MOVE app. However, if I tap a location on the map and create a new one - It cannot be sent to the watch. Im now set to the nearest location but its still off and it affects the tide, moon phase and the sunset/sunrise time. Not great. Does anyone has the same issue?

    Great video.
    But for me the notifications are useless because every time I watch a CZcams video and skip ahead or back a few seconds I get a notification. Shame Casio hasn't updated the app to better handle the notification settings. I can't use this watch like it is right now. And that's 2 years later...

    Unfortunately the preset tide times are wrong and most of the preset tide locations are worthless, especially for surfers.

    thank you.

    • @andrewbryan8597
      @andrewbryan8597 Před 3 lety

      Yes, maybe you've gotten it sorted by now, but it's an option of you manipulate the "Sound and Vibration", and toggle the options for them respectively; turn off the beep sound for alarms, and turn on the vibration for alarms. Hope this helps.

    Thanks for your vblog. I too have a love hate relationship with mine. It won’t pair to install an update. My Bluetooth settings says it’s connected but my Casio says otherwise. I disconnected it from Bluetooth to reconnect and now it won’t pair. I share your pain, buddy.

    Might be a silly question, I want this watch mainly for the screen and tide data, I don’t want Bluetooth on, If I run the watch in Airplane mode, Will the tide function still work? I am not interested in downloading any app and are happy to set it up manually on the watch.
